<<OOC ... thanks to all who participated in this JL for the fun. It was nice Jling on such a masive scale. We should soon repeat it!. For everyone else ... sit confortably down, get a drink, some popcorn and enjoy the fun. I warn you ... its quite a long log, but nice reading though. N'Joy! >> ====== Bridge, USS Chimera ===== Shane watched the main screen with an odd intensity. In fact he could not get his eyes of the marvelous picture of the many colors that seemed to radiate from the anomaly. It was like a big circus tent rotating with light speed. The still stood shielding her eyes from the brilliant colors that flowed in front of them on the screen. "Entering the anomaly is 5 seconds" announced Harker. Shane didn't respond to the announcement ... it was all obviously. The anomaly took now all the screen display ... and was still groving. Within an eyeblink the Chimera entered. The ship shook instantly in a violent way. Catching Shane unprepared, he was shaken off the CO's seat like a little toy soldier from a sack. He saw the bridge lights flicker and darken. Then he ended on the hard floor, hitting his shoulder hard. "Status!" he cried out into the chaos that was now on the bridge. "Temporal shielding is interfering with the anomaly's chronoton and tachyon particles," someone reported. "The passing Gott must have triggered some sort of a temporal reaction inside the anomaly and this is the result of it" someone went on. The ship was still shaking violently. Shane could almost imagine what a hard time the ship's inertial dumpers now had. "It's gonna be a rocky ride" sounded somewhere from the back side of the bridge. Shane had to cover his eyes as a nearby console exploded in a geysier of red, yellow and sickly green sparks ... his left hand was slightly burned from the explosion. "Grrrr" he groaned in pain. AS the ship began to shake Athena was knocked to her knees hitting her head on the XO's chair. She wiped away the warm trickle that was running down her cheek. Her head felt as though it was echoing upon its self. {What am I supposed to be doing?} She felt the warmth of a body next to her she looked up and saw Shane standing their. The anger and sadness that she sensed from him was almost over powering. Athena couldn't take the brightness and kept her eyes closed. Athena listened to what was going on at the other stations and tried to sort out what was important from what wasn't. She heard a groan of pain and felt it as well as it echoed through the cavern of her head. She began to rock back and forth and hold her head. The pain was uncontrollable now. When she did venture to open her eyes to try and see if he could help; she felt as though she were in a tunnel. The edges of her vision was black and the blackness seemed to be growing. The Chimera shook violently and almost without any pause. Expecially the temporal shields in the front of the ship had a hard time and were already coloured into dark red ... as an effect of the interaction between the shields and the temporal articles inside the anomaly. From inside the anomaly resembled distantly the bajoran wormhole with one significant difference. The surrounding was all coloured in many shades of the red color. Purple, blood red, dark red, crimson ... all were present. Several regions of the anomaly's inside seemed to interact with each other ... visually in the form of GIANT energy bolts. Wellcome to Hell! Just now a medium sized bold hit the Chimera's right warp nacelle hard. It pierced the duruanium/tritanium hull like cheese and left a 5 meters wide hole in the nacelle. =/\= Shield Generators =/\= Jason looked over the changes made to sheild grid to accomodate the need the need for Temporal sheilding. He wasn't sure what it was but something about the changes didn't seem right. He turned towards Gomez about to ask what the current sheild effectiveness was when the floor benith him seemed to dissapear from under him as the ship suddenly jumped and lurched. His head hit the ceiling above with a loud clunk and then his hole body smacked to the floor rather hard. The edges of his visions fading as he began to black out and then sharp pain shoot through his chest and legs His hole body feeling as if flames were shooting all over. He focused on the pain using it to keep him from blacking out the console that he had been stood at was now 3 feet away and beeping loudly. With a tremendous amount of effort he reached up for an hand hold and pulled himself to his knees edging towards the console. He scanned the read out quickly The sheilds were going to fail power was being cut from a blown out conduit if he didn't get them back up the ship would be torn apart within minutes. "Gomez" He yelled over the noise in the compartment looking behind to see Gomez slumped over a console across the room blood trickling from a gash in his forehead, Jason could see his chest was rising "I'll be back buddy" He whispered as he turned to the console and began entering commands rerouting power to the generators trying to stabilise the system. *** Sickbay *** Red Alert sounded moments after Rangi had contacted the Bridge. "Here we go" Scott said to no one in particular and almost immediately Chimera shook violently and kept on shaking. The constant vibration lessened and increased randomly a few times and everything that wasnt secured inevitably began to topple and fall. Sickbay filled with the sound of thuds and crashes. Staff and patients alike tried to brace themselves against the wilder motions. Then it was still....ominously so. Rangi and Scott looked at each other in the same moment. "Do you think its over?" she asked. Before he could reply, they became aware of a noise and the expression on both faces asked plainly ' 'What's that?' A high pitched whine grew louder until it was almost unbearable. Scott pressed his hands to his ears and Rangi, covering hers in the same way , saw one of the patients struggling to leave his bed. He was an engineer, incredibly aged and where once he had been fit and athletic, he now moved with difficulty. "Wait!" she cried, forseeing him falling to the floor, "Stay there!" But he could not hear her and continued his efforts to get off the bed. The light was a shock, appearing without warning and illuminating sickbay with a brilliant whiteness. Rangi, lips parted and eyes wide, watched a spectacular display of colour cascade from a central point. In other circunstances it would have been a magnificent sight, but now it brought fear with its fantastic beauty. The walls, the equipment, the people, every part of sickbay was painted in a fast changing kaleidoscope of colour. The air crackled with static and a thousand pinpricks tingled into Rangis skin. 'Zzzzzzjjjjjiiiiinnnggg' A bolt of yellow light zapped across the room, followed by a second and third. Each seemed to ricochet from anything it touched and the effect was terrifiying. The beams crisscrossed at amazing speed, errupting into vivid green showers if they collided with each other and generating multiple versions of the original. Some hit the sensor array above the main surgical bed, and the overbed cluster, once the pride of sickbay, shattered into a hundreds or more shards of glass and metal. There was no chance to give aid and everyone tried to find shelter where they could. Scott pushed Rangi into the small space beneath a work station, crawling in after her though there was barely room for one. "Protect yourself" he yelled against the catastophic noise. She curled herself into a small a space as possible trying to give him room and he pressed himself under cover as far as he could. They stayed huddled together each fearing the worst. ===== Turbolift ===== Terek was on his way back to the Astrometrics after placing last inhibitors with. He was in the turbolift with Alex, which headed back to the lab to finnish some work. They arranged a dinner together, first after a few days, but in that moment none of them knew, that the prophets didn't want them to have that dinner. Turbolift just stopped at Alex's destination and she was just giving him a good bye kiss, when the door suddenly closed and lights blinked and went out, trapping them inside a small cabine. "What the...." started Terek, but the rest of the sentence he couldn't say, because the cabin started to fall uncontroled and it became to gather speed more and more. They were both screaming couse they knew, that shaft will end soon and the turbolift will crash on the bottom with them inside. And they very well aware of how they will look like after such fall. Just two spots on the carpet. But as suddenly as it started to fall, the light turned on and cabine's safeties engaged, holding it at one place. "Are you OK?" Asked Terek, looking at Alex and thinking about if he himself has all hands and legs untouched. "I... I think I am... we have to get out of here..." answered Alex in a quite firm voice. "I wouldn't dare to oppose you in this..." said Terek with a bitter smile. "Computer, initiate emergency overide and open the door." [Unable to comply. The emergency overides are offline.] "Damn it... we have to get out, before it decide to finnish that fall." But before he could reach the emergency hatch to the turboshaft, the ship began to shake violently so they were for a moment nailed to the floor, till they found the ballance... or at least something what could be called that way with a big portion imagination. So he tried to reach the hatch, unlocked it and they both climbed on the top of the cabine. "Great, now all we have to do is climb as long as we won't reach the bridge or some opened door or die..." mentioned Alex sarcasticly as she moved towards the ladder on the one side of the shaft and began to climb with Terek behind her. After about fifteen minutes of climbing interrupted by shaking of the ship which made it very difficult and when they tried about four doors, they got to ones that were little opened. "Climb up a little more, I'll try to open it..." said Terek and when Alex moved up a bit in a red lighted tube, he reached the door and with all his strength he tried to pull the door open. In the moment when he began to think that it won't work, the door opened and he lost ballance and fell on the groung of the deck. "Always with the propper antre'vu, right?" said Alex with smile, when she was stepping over him to the deck, but the next shook of the Chimera knocked her to the ground as well. "And i don't know, why you have to do the things after me?" said Terek for return as he got to his feet and helped Alex to her's. They both approached a wall display to find which deck they were on. "Well, we're on deck seven, you'd better go with me to the Astrometrics, Oriana will probably need andy help she can get." Alex agreed so they set of to the nearest Jeffries tube leading one deck up to get to the lab. They just took one bend when one great shockwave hit the ship and run through the decks like a group of wild rhinos. They both fell on the gorund again and around them the hell was happening. On the far end of the corridor the EPS blow out taking whole bulkhead on the starboard out and when Terek looked up, he saw wild red colors. It took him a moment to understand that there is a hole to the space and that only emergency forcefields are now protecting this deck from the deadly outside environment. "Hurry, we have to get out of here Alex." Said, but when he got up, the panel on the wall next to him exploded in a bright sparks, that set a fire on Terek's right shoulder and arm. He dropped to the groung again and began to roll, because that was the first thing he remembered that work on the fire. Alex gave out a scream and began to help him to put the fire off. She threw her jacket on him and with joined forces, they managed to put the fire down, but when terek rose, he felt that his entire right arm could serve as frying pan, and the hot and pain spread through his entire body. He also felt that part of his right face was burned as well, but in the very moment he didn't care. Alex's eyes widened as she looked back to the ruptured bulkhead. "Sweethearth, I know that it hurts, but...We'd better move... and quickly." Said Alex and when Terek turned his head as well, he saw why she said that. The emergency forcefield was failing. It was blinking in increasing frequency. So despite his pain, he run for his life with Alex at his side. In the last moment they made it behind another forcefield point, because as soon as they got behind, it has activated and the whole section behind them was flushed to the space. But they better kept moving. They reached the Jeffriese tube and made their way to the deck six, where Alex helped terek to the temporary sickbay. He knew that probably they won;t be able to help him right now, but he couldn't be much of help in the Astrometrics as well and here he at least won't be a obstacle. "Alex, please ....go to the Astrometrics and help them, I'll ....manage it here." said terek, his face in pain as they entered the holodeck with temporary sickbay. Alex hesitated, but then she left and Terek with few more steps reached the biobed, but before it, the ship shook again and he fell to the ground and hit his burned shoulder, so he just remained to lay on the carpet, his body overflowing with pain and without strength to stand up. In main engineering, Rick was finding it almost impossible to maintain his footing. His body slammed into the consoles a few times, but he somehow remained standing. "Sir, we're about to lost impulse," a crewman Weathersby said. "Damn it, I don't want to hear that!" Rick yelled as he wobbled over to the station where impulse was being maintained. "We're offline here and here," Weathersby said, pointing to her console. "Any more and we're be dead in space." "Then I'll just have to fix those, won't I?" Rick said. "Keep me apprised of situation here." "But, sir," she said. "There are plasma fires throughout that area." "I guess I'll just have to be careful," Rick said as another shockwave almost sent him to the deck. "Anything beats being tossed around here." Rick entered one of the jefferies tubes leading to his desired destination. In a matter of moments, he ran into a section of the tube that was blocked by a fire. He tried to move around it, only to run into another fire. He reached one of the damaged conduits and began repairs. Before he knew it, though, fire had surounded his position. He managed to seal off himself in a section from the fires, but for the time being he was trapped. Knowing there was little he could do, he continued repairs in hopes that he could at least keep the engines running. ===== Back on the bridge ===== Liting Athena from the shards of an console she was lying on, Shane softly put her in a relatively safe place next to the turbo lift. She was obviously alive and concious, but words that came out of her mind gave no sense to him. Having little time to wonder he made his way towards the centre of the bridge crawling. "How's our situation" he said aloud. It was no necessary to scream cause the bridge was now a rather silent and deserted place. As Shane looked around he saw that many of the consoles were dead black or softly burning, others still functional but none spared of damage. The air was now heavy cause the smoke filled slowly the bridge. From behind the TAC console a black and ruffled person distantly remebering Ens. Dexter replied: "Various systems failing ot off line ... fire preventing system, turbo lifts, long range sensors, most of short range ones, communication, main computer. Still functional but with troubles are engines and secondary computer core, energy distribution, temporal shields and emergency force fields. Hull breaks on various deck from deck 3 down to 11." +TAPS+ Guzman to Sickbay. We have wounded here ... Shane tried his luck. No reponse. "Communication is off line sir as well as most of data lines to the bridge. We are practically blind out of here and have no reports or whatever" Dexter finished. "Harker!" Shane cried out. An weak and exhausted voice from the front section of the bridge replied. Shane could not recognize the shaded figure sitting at the console, he just hoped its Harker. "Flying on visual data now only. We have lost navigation sensors and main deflector dish. I am not sure where the end of the anomaly is!" "Damn it" Shane cursed, "time for your ace in the sleeve Harker" Shane said ironically. He couldnt help himself he had to think about Rangi now. {Is she all right?}. Knowing the terrible state of the ship's systems, Shane had only to HOPE that all the crew did their best at the moment. Every mistake now could proove to be fatal. Loosing impulse engines, shields or life support would now mean the end of the Chimera .... and probably all human life! It almost appeared that the Chimera was out of danger for a moment, but then the bridge rocked again ... but to Shane's surprise less strong. Shane hoped that that was a sign of nearing to the exit of the anomaly ... but he couldnt know. The little trace of optimism was erased by Dexter's report: "All short range sensors are off line!" **** Sickbay **** Scott said.."Nothing...the systems down" turned back to the console and tapped again in a vain attempt to contact the Bridge. He looked at Rangi and shook his head. She had tried using her combadge with no result and was now seriously worried.{If they're injured on the Bridge...if Shane is...oh why DIDN'T I go before?} She tapped her left hand against her right hand fist very fast as she tried plan. Ten minutes has passed since the spectacular but devasting light effects had ceased. She and Scott, emerging from their shelter, had been astounded by what they saw.The sickbay had been virtually destroyed from within. They had hurried towards the patients with little hope of their safety. Mercedes, visibly shocked, had witnessed the whole events from a corner near the lab door where she had curled as small as she could , her only safety an over turned med trolley. She had explained to them in a trembling voice, that the engineer who Rangi had seen trying to leave his bed, had been hit by one of the 'bolts' and had simply disappeared. One other had also been hit and lay dead on the floor near his bed. Lt Hull had also died and so only two patients now remained, both of them suffering further injuries in the incident. While Scott and Rangi treated them. Mercedes, who herself had miraculously escaped with only minor cuts, began to salvage any intact equipment. Sadly there was little. Now all three stood surveying the damage. "There must be injured on the Bridge" Rangi said thoughtfully and looked at Scott. "They'll need someone there." "You want me to go?" he asked knowing that she didnt. Rangi nodded. "Yes." she said "I need to check the temporary sickbay...and get these two down there." Scott glanced at the two patients."Ok." he said. "Please contact me as soon as you possibly can." "Ofcourse" Scott said and moved quickly to collect a medkit which he swung over his shoulder. With a reassuring smile to Mercedes, he hurried away. The two women watched him go, both with trepidation. "Right" Rangi said and turned to the AMO. "Lets get these two down to the holodeck. Then we'll come back and salvage what we can. When the teams return....we'll need it.I just hope its not in the same state there." Scott returned within a minute. "No lifts" he said bluntly. "Theres nothing up further than three..and I was going to try the jefferies tubes but someone said it's bad..fire and such." "Right.." Rangi said with a sinking feeling."...well...then lets continue here anyway...we'll move as much as we can to the temporary bay." She had hardly spoken the words when the ship rocked and shuddered, though not as violently as it had done. {We're not through yet} she thought {Shane...what's going on?} ===== Back on the bridge once again ===== For most of the alive officers hope's almost all faded that they would make it out of the anomaly alive, when suddenly ... out of blue ... the violent rocking stopped and the red-ish 'hell' all around the ship was exchanged by the all familiat blackness of 'normal' space. Like one is blinded when coming out of a dark room after half a day in bright sunlight, everyone was 'blinded' by the sudden quietness. Shane's face was somewhat covered in blood from several minor bruises but he could see through the half destroyed main screen that they were out of the temporal anomaly. Others have observed it as well and a cheerfull cry came from behind the tactical: "We've made it!". Choking from the smoke that was still heavy on the bridge and replied in a weak voice: "Indeed Dexter." Felling that the crew needed at least some moral boost he tried: "Good work everyone". Observing the wasteland that once was the bridge, Shane shook his head and said in hardly more then a whisper: "I dont think we can do much here, we have to go to main engineering. I hope there are some controls pannels left, cause if not we are dead in water." Looking around he added: "Dexter, Harker come with me, everyone else take care about the wounded and wait till an medical team arrive" {I hope there IS a medical team left on board} Shane thought. He felt guilty of leaving the rest of the bridge crew now behind, but the Chimera was now like dead in waters in some totaly unknown region of space. The anomaly might have throw the Chimera thousands of light years away from their original position and thousands of years of out their time ... there could be unnamedd horrors lurking nearby. Without data was the bridge blind and Shane NEEDED to know where (and when) they are very badly. {The needs of many outweight the needs or a few} said Ambassador Spock once in the past an! d Shane hoped that he did the right decission atm. ===== View Outside the ship ===== The Chimera was drifting slowly towards a distant sun. The ship seemed to be more then a half dead, its lights were mostly out, its hull was heavy scratched and on several places like pierced by giant needles. One nacelle was torn to pieces, the other badly burnt. The big main deflector dish was broken like a mirror in five or six pieces. A small cloud of debrises circled around the ship like a little moon around a planet. Besides the distant solar system the space looked empty. But no ... there was some distant little flash comming from a nearby object ... it resembled a nova class ship. It was bruised as well, but by far not that badly as the once proud USS Chimera. The Nova class ship was obviously 'alive' with power and stuff, but who was on board was not certain. Further in space, closer to the solar system were several dozen of strange objects flying towards the system's planets. A closer look would reveal egg shaped solid objects. What were they and what was their purpose? ===== End of log ===== <<OOC ... wellcome in the past. The ship is now more then a half unusable and I look forward to see your logs describing what will you do without turbolifts, communication, sensors and failing life support. I am REALLY interested. ::Grins:: >> LtCmdr. Rangi Summers CMO/2XO & LT. Athena Wellington Counselor & LtJg. Oriana CSCiO & LtJg. Rick Rodgers ACEO & Ens. Terek Weranis ASCiO & Ens.
