=Jeffries Tube, Deck 11, section whatever= =U.S.S. Chimera= As carbon dioxide slowly replaced the oxygen in the air, Rick felt his strength being sapped away. It wasn’t too bad ... yet. But as the minutes passed, it would become a lot worse. To pass the time, what little he may have left, he’s mind went through various engineering calculations as he sat in the cramp space. He did this so he wouldn’t think of family and friends. Once he started to do that was when he would begin to panic. At least thinking of work kept his mind focused. He began to wonder what his father would’ve done in this same situation then quickly put those thoughts out of his head. Just then, he heard some banging on one of the doors that was sealing the plasma fires out. In less than a minute, he saw the door slowly open, which was replaced by a figure wearing fire protective hear. “Lieutenant Rodgers, are you all right?” the figure said. Rick rubbed his eyes and shook the cobwebs out of his head as oxygen, smoke-scented oxygen, but oxygen none-the-less rushed into his cubby hole. “Yeah, I’m fine,” Rick said as he allowed the figure to help him out of the tube. “Do you require any medical attention?” “No, I’ll be okay,” Rick said. “I just need some fresh air and I’ll be as good as new.” As soon as they got out of the tube, they walked out into one of the corridors. It was then that Rick took a few deep breaths. “What’s our status?” Rick asked. “We followed the Gott into the temporal anomaly and ended up a few thousand years in the past.” “Great,” Rick said as he arrived at main engineering, while the crewman went to join his team to fight other plasma fires. “Report.” “Warp drive is offline while we have just under a quarter impulse,” Jo Weathersby 2 said looking at her console. “Our systems are fried for the time being, so that’s all we’re going to get. Sensors are off-line and we’re having a hell of a time keeping both the regular and temporal shields working.” Rick now stood next to her and looked at the console. A number of other problems now plagued the ship. Perhaps too many for his shrinking staff to take care of. ‘Then again, since we’re in the past, we have plenty of time,’ Rick thought. “We need to do whatever we can to keep those shields up,” Rick said. “Meanwhile, our priority after that is the sensors. I’ll work on those while you take whoever we have left and see if we can put anymore power in the engines.” “But, sir, I just said those systems were fired.” “I know, but as long as this ship is operating, then there’s always a way,” Rick said. “I don’t want to have to go chugging around here on less than a quarter impulse.” “Yes, sir,” she said, a little apprehensively as she walked away.
