He did not much care for wiping his comrade’s blood over his uniform but for the moment it was the least of his worries. Major Walsh was out cold with one hell of a concussion and ra’nar had nothing on him that would help - he lost half his medic kit during the whole breach -, there was also a young women by the name of Jennifer Greene bleeding to death by the entrance of main engineering. Ra’nar walked over to Private Greene to see what her situation was. Her stomach had been pierced by one of the X’chi and no matter what Ra’nar did he could not holt the blood flow. He had injected her with what should have stopped the bleeding but it did nothing, he then applied pressure and bandaged the wound but as Ra’nar got close to Private Greene he could see that the once white bandages were now an unsightly blood soaked red. Ra’nar knelt down to look into her eyes. The first thing he noticed was that her face was pale and her formerly pink lips were now going as pale as her face. She looked like a ghost from a low budget 20th century earth movie. “Is the pain still troubling you?” asked Ra’nar. He got no response, her head was looking straight down at the floor. “hay!” Ra’nar said as he slapped her across the face trying to keep her awake. Gentle her head rose, “Real charmer, you are kiddo.” Ra’nar smiled, “You deserve the best East Texas.” She smiled at the comment in a dazed kind of way. “Hows the pain?” Ra’nar asked again. “Better.” She said. It seemed that one word was all she could muster. {Damit,} thought Ra’nar. He had given her nothing from the pain, if it was easing up it was only a bad sign. He stood and thought for a moment. {There must be some thing that I can do to stop the bleeding.} Ra’nar looked down at his ‘new’ weapon when he thought of something, almost as if a light bulb had appeared above his head like in those old cartons. Ra’nar increased the setting on the rifle aimed in firmly at the wall and let off a burst. Sparks scattered and a piece of the piping hot paneling fell from the wall. Ra’nar picked up the hot piece of metal as best he could without burning himself, walked back over to Jenn’s position and removed the bandages from the wound. After a moments hesitation ra’nar placed the burning hot end of the metal over the wound. Private Greene screamed in pain before pushing Ra’nar square on the chin and then passing out from the pain of the experience. Ra’nar was shocked for a moment; he had never expected to be battered by somebody he was treating. But after getting over this he had a look at the wound and noticed that the bleeding had indeed stopped. He had at least been able to save one life. = = = = = End Log = = = = Private First Class Ra’nar ODA Medical Specialist USS Chimera _________________________________________________________________ Winks & nudges are here - download MSN Messenger 7.0 today! http://messenger.msn.co.uk
