OOG: Terek, Shane, Mai, thaks, that you join me in writing this log, I enjoyed it. I hope, you too :-) ===== Astrometrics ===== It was darkly. It was silently. The only lights in the room came from the red alert. In the air was much smoke and dust. The room was half overwhelmed with some unidentifiable scrap. On the large screen was war of black and white ants. One of the sideways console exploded, the other was black. Only the main console worked and before it was a young woman from science department. The fight with the functionless systems was difficult. Behind her, on the one cornel lay two persons. Man was a Human and woman was Vulcan. They both was unconscious, grimy and in almost undistinguishable uniforms. MaiKai immediately noticed the situation of the two bodies on the floor and motioned Terek to follow her as she rushed to kneel at the bodies. She placed her medkit on the floor next to woman vulcan. Mai noticed her as Oriana. She took her tricorder out of the medkit and ran it over Oriana's body to see why she was lying there unconscious and how badly her burns were so she would know how to treat them. Petrel was in a half-unconscious state at the moment. Brief glances of what one would call the reality were mixing in his mind with pictures and frames from generated from his mind and memory. He was once again in the large Ops room on SB 742 where he was manning auxiliary tactical and he helped to defend the station from the Tholian attack, then again on the Chimera but in the time where the crew was under the pollen effect ... a brief picture in his mind showed a rather damaged Astrometrics as he was staring at the ceiling and a shadowly figure maybe clad in teal was bending over him ... Firstly when they entered the room, Alex didn't register them. "Alex, you're all right. Thank the Prophets. How's Oriana and Petrel?" Asked Terek when doctor Quiocho told him to help her. He bent over the Petrels body seeing his closed eyes moving quickly. He took out the med tricorder and scanned him. "I've scanned him. It seems that he has only a slight concussion, but not any serious injuries, few bruises, but I haven't a propper equipment to wake him up." She paused. "As for Lt JG Oriana, I don't know. I can handle few thing considering human anatomy but as for the Vulcan anatomy it is double dutch for me. I hope, she's all right" Said Alex with worries in her voice. Terek finished Petrel's scan and asked: "Doctor Quiocho I think it is safe to wake him. What would you recommend?" Oriana was on holodeck. She sat at the grass and looked at Martin, who poured out two glasses with champagne. He smiled, took a seat near by her and get her one of the glasses. "So, what are you saying to this kind of surprise?" "I am saying that I prefer my meditative holoprograms in the programmed parameters," she answered, and when she saw his surprised expression, she continued: "It was a test of my sense of humour only, you said me, I should to try it I see, it was not right." Martin bursted out laughing: "No, you do it very well, dear ... So, what would you say to another surprise?" He stood up, reach down a hand and helped her at the legs. But before they made several steps, the whole ground shook. Over their heads overflow a ship. "This is the surprise?" asked Oriana and raised her eyebrow. "No, it isnt," answered Martin. They looked at the ship, which changed the course and flow back. It began to fire afar from they. "Computer, end program," said Oriana. Nothing h! appened. "Computer, exit." Still nothing. "Oriana... "Martin began a bit nervously. The ship was over them already. "Down!" cried Oriana. Both of them fell down. Then the ship fired. The surroundings exploded and Oriana was covered in with the loam and stones. She was on her legs within a while and ran to Martin still laying. He moved not and she got a bad foreboding. She touched his neck. He ... was dead. {NO! ... No, it cant be the truth, he isnt...} NOOO! Oriana opened her eyes quickly. The surroundings were darkly, but she knew, she is in astrometrics. That was a dream. A nightmare. Biased flasback at the picnic, which Martin made for her in the holodeck five days ago. Now she noted a person over her. It was AMO Maikai Quiocho. Oriana realised, she lay on the floor. And she realised the pain. She was injured certainly, but she cant end on the sickbay for now. They have a mission still and she must to find the X!Chi and she dont know, if the sensors are online. She reduced pain in her mind and she just sat. After a while she obtained a mental control over her body. Anybody wouldnt see her problems now, as she hoped. Problem was with the medical tricorder, which held Maikai. She looked around at the people in the room: "What is happen? Could somebody to say, if we are out of the anomaly yet?" "It's good to see you're awake madam." Said Terek turning his head to Oriana which woke up just a moment ago and while Maikai was administrating some medical to the Petrel, he tried to give the Oriana a brief report. "We've set the rest of the temporal inhibitors as captain Harker ordered and on our way down here the ship entered the anomaly. After some complications, we've managed to get sort of communication online." he paused and looked on Oriana which looked really tired even when she was trying to hide it. "You need to rest for a while..." Oriana heard Terek's report really curiously. So, that was the important work, which must have been done. Probably they worked not as good as Harker thought. But on other side, they are still living. "It is good, I am all right. So, the communication is offline. How many systems are damaged too? What about sensors?" She looked at Terek and then at Alex and waited for the answer. "Well, as far as I've been able to find out, most of the systems are offline. Doctor Summers was using site to site transports, but I'm not sure that it is safe in such state of the transporter systems. The comm is completely fried and without a complete engineering team we won't able to repair it. But we've established short range communication through the tricorders. Not vocal of course, but we're using the Morse code. I'll show you later." he paused for a moment and Alex added her information about the sensors. "Sensors are almost gone. The main deflector dish is destroyed. It seems that all we have left are short range sensors at about 11% of efficiency which will allow us to see not even one kilometer ahead." Slowly Petrel regained full consciousness and for good a minute he was just lying, trying to knit his broken thoughts and listened to the conversation Oriana had with Weranis. It was a bit odd that Weranins and Petrel virtually never spoke to each other out of duty, after all they were working in the same department. But well, Petrel was not the most social type and he was not even on officer ... Raising his head and blinking once or twice he announced: "Petrel online again ma'am" with a scowl on his face he added: "I suppose we should try to use what's left of the short range sensors and determine where we actually are." After some choking he added: "Considering the fact that we passed a temporal anomaly we should maybe find out WHEN we are where we are ..." even in a situation like this Petrel refused to give up all his dry humour. He leaned his head back on the floor cause a sharp pain pierced his neck. MaiKai was bandaging Oriana's cuts as she came to. She immediately was asking questions. Mai listen intently, but thought better not to say anything for this was not her field of expertise. She finished with Oriana after a couple minutes. She went through her medkit bag rummaging through for her hypospray. Mai thought it best to give Oriana a hypospray so the pain that she felt would be lessened or gone. She injected it carefully as Oriana looked up at what she was doing. Mai in return gave a weak smile. MaiKai turned and listened for a while as Terek and Alex were talking. She put her hypospray away and turned to Petrel to see how he was feeling. He seemed more conscious as he spoke. However when he finished, she noticed he cringed, probably a sign of pain, and moved closer to him with her medkit as she pulled out her tricorder. There didn't seem to be any signs of any complications as Mai scanned Petrel, but she thought it best to give him a hypospray as well a! nd with that, she injected it to his neck. When MaiKai began to devote her time to Petrel, Oriana took advantage of this and tried to get the the console. She stood up, but she felt dizzy at once and pain in her right leg. Maybe the hypospray took not effect yet. It was not important for this while. She went to the console, where was Alex. Terek came to them. Yes, mr. Petrel, that we need to know." She turned to Alex: "11%, its not very good. Lets see, if we can to raise it," said Oriana. She turned to the console and began to look Alexs work. "I see, you raised the scanning capabilities at the lower additional sensors. What is with the higher sensors?" Alex shook her head. "The primary deflector dish is absolutely out madam. But we can try to restore access to the secondary deflector. It seems that it wasn't damaged so badly." She was tapping on the console. "But I'm not able to bypass damaged circuitry from here. I need someone to get to the computer core and do it manualy." She paused and looked around. Neither Oriana or Petrel were in state to do it, and Maikai and her weren't technicians, so her look fell on Terek. He sighted. "I know, I'm going, but I'm not sure how much time it'll take or if I'll be able to repair it." He said. "Keep in touch with me through the tricorders, I'll let you know when I'm done." And with this he grabbed his toolbox and strode of from the Astrometrics. As he was climbing through the half barraged Jeffries tubes he realized that he's still half naked and that it is getting chilly around. {Great the life support is malfunctioned as well..} The others waited for a while in astrometrics. Oriana frowned and kicked her up heels. Her leg hurt more and more. And she thought at Terek, where he is and what he is doing. {I must a bit relax.} she thought. After some time he finally arrived to the control room of the main computer core. He tapped message to the tricorder that he has arrived and began to work. He recalled schematics of the sensor systems, then compared it with the damage reports and after about an hour when he was trying to figure out what he has to do, he found out that he'll have to change whole group of the isolinear chips along with some gel packs, as they all were burnt down, from the energy surges from the anomaly. Luckily there was enough of both in the spare parts containers in the room so after he found the proper group of chips, he began with work. After almost an two hours when he checked his every step to make sure it was all right he stood up, looking at the panel with complete group of new chips. Now he just put in the last one and quiet humming surrounded him. The power to the secondary sensor systems was restored. Now he had only to bypass the damaged pathways and reconnect the secondary deflect! or. It was now piece of cake after the whole astrometrics was helping with the installation of the temporal sensor systems they all learned a lot about this systems. So after few minutes he finally could send a message that the secondary sensors are ready and he's returning to the astrometrics. When the tricorder began to peep, Oriana was glad. She needed to make something. But Alex looked like she unload herself. {Another relationship on the ship?} she noticed and began to work. "Well, I'm here, the sensors are at your command now.... only when limited to its 65 percent of efficiency but that was all I was able to get from it." He reported as he enter astrometrics once more. And an idea has occured to me... perhaps we could use some sensor probes to get more information from a longer distance." Said Terek to Oriana who was now busy with the sensor system. Oriana turned to Terek, when he arrived the astrometrics again. "Well, good idea, ensign. Do it." He nodded and went to the console and to Alex. They worked together and after a while Terek reported: "Probes ready ... and start." One by one three probes left the ship and surrounded the ship. All three worked tapped now the buttons and tried to get some data. "According to changes in position of stars, we are in the other time period, but on the same place. Thats incredible," said Alex. "Yes, and when we collate the positions of stars, we will find that we are ... wait. It is not possible. We are 10 000 years in the past!" said Terek slowly. Oriana looked shortly at him. "And we have another problem. The X!Chi are here too. Here," she pointed at one place at the map: "The X!Chi ion track. Probably they began calve. We must inform the bridge." Terek nodded and began to work with his tricorder again to send the new report. ===== End of Log ===== Lt. Jg. Oriana CSCiO & Ensign Terek Weranis Assistant Science Officer & Lt. Jg.
