<<OOC: this takes plce right after the Jl with Bretam and Ra'nar that is to come soon. >> ==Shuttle == Keylor glanced back to the transporter padd.. Where he expected to see McTaggert, instead he saw Shane. Looking a bit surprised he smiled. "Well fancy meeting you here commander." he glanced back out the cockpit window, "So I take it the chimera is as bad as she looks, for you to take up residence in main engineering." he said. It was Shane who was surprised to find himself on a transporter platform in a shuttle. One moment he was pondering about things on the Chimera and in the next ... voila! ... he was in a shuttle facing the General. He eyed Bretam for a moment cause in the alternate timeline ... Bretam was long dead. He felt a bit odd ... looking at the man he knew he was dead. {Time travels!} he thought with a bit of anger. It took Shane another moment to realize what was Bretam asking. {Geeez } he thought {there we go ...}. "Erm ... yes" he said glancing through the sidewindow at the battered Chimera. "The passing through the temporal anomaly went worse than expected. Science believe that the passing Gott have triggered some sort of temporal reaction inside the anomaly ... and we got caught by it" Keylor nodded at Shane has he spoke. "So what works, and what does not on the chimera?" he said pointing to a chair behind the pilot seat. Keylor swiveled full around so he could look at Shane square on. Taking the offered seat Shane replied: "What's working is a short list. We have life support on all decks, emergency power from deck 3 below, shield at very low efficiency, backup computer core and the warp core is functional but the power relay along the ship are mostly burned so we cant route warp power to the ship's systems. We have no sensors, impulse, weapons or communication" he finished the counting. He was less then happy to tell the CO that his beloved ship was not more then a wreck. "Well the Gott is in a little better condition. The ships computer core has been reinitialized back to the days it was in dry dock. And aside from the fact there are still X'chi running about, we control the bridge and main engineering. Most systems seem to be in working order, but the warp core was deactivated several days ago and will take some time to bring back on line. " He said. He then added as an afterthought, "Oh and the reserve power is running low and likely to fail after a few hours." "So you control the Gott?" he asked with relief, "When we haven't got any sign from you since we arrived I feared that the away mission went a bad way." A small sign of a smile appeared on Shane's face: "I am glad we were wrong sir". Keylor nodded, "Well we did not have computer control until about 2 hours ago. And then It took some time to figure out the ships controls. Not to mention the fact that the ship is nearly out of power." he trailed off and looked out the window at the chimera. "But we did try to hail you. Apparently your communications are down." Shane noded: "Yes, the whole comm system is off line. For the moment all we have is a network of tricoders for internal communication and three probes around the ship as external sensors network. There were some ideas about bringing the comm system to working condition again, but with no results till now." Keylor nodded, "Well you think those magical mystical engineers still have some tricks up their sleeve to help get the Gott's Warp core powered up?" "Well" Shane started scratching his chin, "The storage rooms were quite damaged as well, but I think that we should have enough equipment stored on board to help the guys on the Gott to get her working properly. A sad thing is that LT. McTaggert is dead and we've got a lot of casualities as well." he finished. Keylor held back the look of surprise. But after seeing how badly damaged the chimera was, he was not surprised there we causalities. "I assume all of the engineers are not dead." He asked seriously. Shane looked sideways at Bretam not sure if he was serious or not. {All Engineers dead?} he wondered. Seeing Bretam's expression he thought he WAS serious: "Luckily the engineering area wasnt too bad damaged so the core of the engineering staff is all right. Lieutenant Rodgers is the next in Command in Engineering and he took over as ACEO" Keylor nodded , "Very well. We need to restore some sort of ships communication. We nee d to communicate freely so we can coordinate efforts. I see a lot of damage on deck six. Did sickbay take a hard hit?" Shane thought for a moment before replying. He was no engineer og course so he guessed only: "Well sir, I think we could use the probes sensors to create some comm relay. I believe it might be a way how to communicate between the ships. As for sickbay, it is more then half destroyed. Rangi and her staff moved over to temporary sickbay on holodeck one. Its very good that they have established it before we have entered the anomaly, but of course its no 'proper' sickbay". As a flash something turned up in Shane's mind: "Sir, you've mentioned that there are still some X'Chi on the Gott, what can we do about them?" "Well everyone not needed for the repair efforts; that can carry a weapon, we will shuttle back to the Gott. Once we get the Gott cleared of X'chi we can use their medical bay for the critical injuries. Any idea where we are? How about federation beacons? Would have tried to get a fix on the Gott, but we were have a bit of trouble with their unique sensors." Keylor said with a bit of annoyance. Looking out at the vast space behind the shuttle's windows Shane stated: "Before we have entered the anomaly we have encountered that the timeline was changed, there were no federations beacons in the sector and we've found traces of X'Chi inhabiting the nearest planets. Our theory is that the X'Chi have planted themselves some nearby in this time period and prevented the humans to rise beyond Earth. We have traced something that appeared to be eggs in this time period. We believe that they head for a certain planet nearby to found a colony there." Keylor nodded. "Well if the time line has been changed we need to fix it. We need to determine exactly where they are and destroy them. Also we need to determine where we are at. We have to be some where near the federation if not in it. Once the science team has figure out where e the x'chi went to, have them get a star fix and find out where we are. Mean while we will get the Gott up and running and safe for inhabitants. Have the engineering team make a good assessment of the Chimera and what is working and what can be working in 8 hours. " Keylor rattled of in usual military fashion. "Oh and have some one get an inventory on weapons, mainly the quantum torpedoes. The Gott only has a small armament of Photon torpedoes and phasers, nothing near what the Chimera had. Orders flew from Keylor's mouth like bees from a hive and Shane was barely able to follow them. After a moment when he tried to 'swallow' all the orders he said: "Understood, I'll arrange it .... " he looked at Keylor, "when you beam me back on the Chimera" he added. Remembering the issue with Palmer he said: "Hmm ... one more thing General" he started in a bit more official tone: "I had to arrest Commander Palmer just before we have entered the anomaly. She assumed Command over the Chimera and refused to give it back to me ..." Keylor looked puzzled for a moment. But with Ra'nar looking from behind the cockpit, he was not about to get in to the why's and what for's in front a junior member of the crew. "Hrm. I see. But I am afraid we will have to remove some of that restriction for now. Let's find her and get her over to the Gott. Once we have eliminated the X'chi incursion, we will need to find a way back, and some thing tells me that the Gott is our ticket back, and she is our best hope. What about That new fellow, Harker. I take it he has something to do with all of this?" he asked . Shane realized that Keylor didn't wanted to get into details about Palmer right now and was glad about that. he knew Keylor will bring this issue up some later and more in private, but for the moment he accepted Shane's actions. The idea of releasing Samantha was not pleasant to him but he did it in fact already and of course Keylor was right, they needed her and her knowledge. Therefore he noded: "To be honest I already grated the Commander limited rights again. By chance she escaped from the damaged brig area and i discovered her in main engineering. Thinking alike you I figured that we could make profit of her knowledge and asked her to find out where we exactly are and what possibilities do we have to return back" Pausing for a second only he said: "Harker is ..." he paused for a slight moment. He could not reveal Harker's true identity without explaining to the General the source of his knowledge. Three days in an alternate timeline. "... quite deep in this involved in my mind. He surely has some connection to Special Forces but on what degree is still not clear. But I think he knows FAR more then we assumed originally. For the moment I kept him under my sight in main engineering" Keylor nodded. "Well we don't need a hems man for now. We can leave him on the chimera to help with damage control for now. If he is in to this as deep as you suspect, then lets keep him somewhere he cant do muc damage and we can keep him under observation." He said in reply. Shane nodded. Keylor looked over Shane. Though he did not appear to be as battered as Keylor, he almost had that look of being tossed about like a frog in a blender. His three days unshaved chin was a thing to wonder about as well. "So how did you fare through all of this. You look a sight better than me." He said with a slight smile and motioning to his right shoulder and ripped shirt. Shane looked sideways at Keylor and considered if he should tell him the true or leave it till there will be more time for tales like he had to say. The decision was made fastly and Shane replied shortly: "Been better on already, but its not that bad." "And Dr Summers?" he asked knowing he was probably worried about his girlfriend. "She's fine, thank you for asking" he replied, "luckily the medical staff was mostly unharned and Rangi is as far I know fine, even if I haven't seen her since we arrived in this time cause the way to holodeck one from main engineering is blocked" he finished. Keylor smiled at his response. "Well good. I would hate to have you moping about while we try to make repairs and find a way home. He chuckled. Shane grinned back but said nothing at first. He was not used on Keylor commenting his relationship with Rangi. To change the subject he asked back: "What about your team sir, how went the mission and how's your man?" Keylor looked down. "Well we have lost a few men, Petty officer Williams was one of them. Several are injured in various degrees.." he paused and looked back up. "But then , that is what you get with combat." He said plainly. Just then a light flashed on the control panel next to Keylor. He looked over and saw a standard "All ships" hail coming form some where. "What the???" he muttered and swiveled about. And tapped on the console. "Interesting.." he said and then looked over to Shane. Apparently Some one on the chimera has restored some external communications." Shane's face brightened for a moment. Finally where things moving on. External communication was a good thing and now they could join forces with the ODA away team on the Gott and maybe save the day. Keylor tapped on the console and responded. "This is the Shuttle Rubicon, General Bretam here." A distorted response came back. "General? This is Lieutenant Stephens, USS Chimera." Keylor looked over to Shane, " Lieutenant Stephens? That name does not sound familiar to me. Is he new?" he asked. Shane thought a bit about the name but nothing flashed in his mind for the moment. Finally like a thunder in a night's sky he remembered the strange conversation with a battered Lieutenant Stephens who called Shane 'Captain' ... He looked at Bretam and shrugged: "Well, not much, but I suspect that Mr. Stephens somehow arrived from the future or something. He offered to restore external Comm and it looks like he succeeded" Keylor shook his head at the thought of crossing time lines. {I hate temporal mechanics.} he thought. Keylor tapped on the comm. channel and replied. "Lieutenant. Your coming in scrambled. Try narrowing the confinement beam." Shane looked at Bretam and said: "If you could please beam me back on the Chimera I'll make arrangements for an engineering crew to be prepared when you 'll send a shuttle to transport them on the Gott and see if Science found out anything about the X!Chi" Keylor nodded. "Very well. With this make shift communications, we can at least communicate the distance between the Gott and Chimera.." he said at least relieved at the thought of re-establishing communications. He looked over as Shane stood up and walked over to the transporter pad. "Oh and if you have any spare medical supplies." he pointed at Ra'nar standing behind Shane. "He could sure use it." Shane nodded ."I will see what we can find." He said reassuring. Keylor tapped on the consol and set the coordinates of the emergency transporter. "ok lets see if I can get you back to main engineering with out landing you in a bulkhead." He said as he looked back. With a faint smile he tapped on the console and Shane shimmered back to the chimera. ===end log=== Bgen Bretam Keylor & Commander Shane Guzman
