====== CEO's room, USS Chimera (whats left of her) ===== 5 minutes passed since Cortez left the room. Shane returned to the table and picked the tricoder with the latest reports and continued to read where he was interruped by the arrival of the coporal. As mentioned before, Shane didnt knew Cortez that much, but from the few reports about the ODA he had the chance to read it appeared that Cortez was an outstanding marine, initiative and bold .... a man who's called officer material. To be honest Shane was quite interested to see how will Cortez manage the two tasks given to him ... torpedoes and evacuation. One thing pleased Shane a lot. The situation on board the Chimera was less then ordinary, the ship was not much more then a wreck a full evacuation was happening and still there were reports flowing to the officer in charge. Sure, the reports were cut short to a minium, but still it kept Shane informed. The evacuation was following good for now. All wound/sick crew and the whole medical staff was already safely on the Gott. Shane was a bit surprised but still pleased about the original way the serious wounded crew was moved over from the Chimera. The point was that using a plain transporter beam was quite risky for several of the patients and the Gott's shuttle was just not avaible ... but using the Chimera's escape pods was avery clever idea. Shane made a mental note to commendate this action later. A vast majority of the engineering staff was off the Chimera as well. Only several engineers were now left here to help to set up the core for an controlled overload and as a watch if anything should go wrong with the ship at the last moment. A lot of other crew was safely on the Gott as well, including Athena which left only two other senior officer here ... Lt. Oriana and Cmdr. Palmer. Shane was a bit nervous that he knew nothing about the Commander for teh moment and hoped that she was doing no mischief ... There was not much left to do for Shane here. He was no longer needed here and all tasks were distributed to the crew. Slowly standing up from the chair he went over to the exit door. He gave the little room a last look and left it to never return there anymore. Standing in the main engineering room Shane felt a bit queer. A busy place just a moment ago ... now was the heart of the mighty Interpid class ship quite empty and silent. Only several crew tended the consoles. Shane saw this place always busy and full of people ... till now. At the moment it resembled him to an old rusty ship ... on the very end of its last cruise. Lost in thoughs Shane remained there for a minute or two before leaving the place with a quiet sigh. He tapped the nearby console and passed over a message to Lt. Oriana that she should report to the bridge of the USS Gott immediately. Making this very last order on board the Chimera Shane very slighty bowed his head and said in this thoughs: {Good-bye old lady, may all ships be so good as you always were}. Tapping the console again he accessed the intership communication between the Chimera and the Gott. "Guzman To LT. Foster" After a small moment the (like always) somewhat bored voice of the ship's OPS officer replied: "Foster here Sir" "Lieutenat I am finished here. Is the General still on the bridge?" he asked. Now was the reply almost immediate: "Still Sir". "Then please beam me over to you Lieutenant" Shane ordered. "Please stand by for transport" came Foster's reply. After a little while the all-known blue-ish haze of a federation transporter beam enveloped Shane and off he was. ===== End of log ===== Cmdr. Shane Guzman XO USS Chimera
