***********USS GOTT Main Engineering warp core************ "Bluuuhg" was the only sound coming out of the reaction chamber as Hawk gagged every so often. His feet were all you could see from the round portal entrance to the chamber. The dilethium crystals had to be washed off and the inside of the chamber "hosed" out. Apparently his "little friend" as he had been calling the X'Chi did not completely vaporize. Instead it entered the energy stream causing a backload, shutting down the reaction by a failsafe protocol and then exploded from the initial blast and heat. He was amazed at the complete saturation of the internal workings of the chamber. Granted it wasn't big inside there but it was rather tall. "Gaaaag" came the sound again as he continued to scrub and think. He had been at it only twenty five minutes or so but it felt like hours. In the meantime the other engineers and crew were busy taking advantage of the main power being out. Reserves were running as they had time to be restored while main power was up. A good majority of the eps system problems could be fixed in a fraction of the time due to the lack of plasma flow through them. Hawk estimated about twenty minutes more and he would be finished. After that the protocols to bring warp power back online would be started. One hour tops and they would be back to full power. The slight misstep by Hawk had actually helped the overall process of getting the Gott to 100%. As Chief Rodgers estimated they would be at or around 90% operational by the time warp power is restored. The only remaining issue was something about repairs in a cargo bay or something. Hawk wasn't sure about that one because he lost his concentration when he gagged again and couldn't hear. As he climbed out of the chamber an NCO pushed by him, while holding his breath, and placed the dilethium crystals back into the slide plate. ......APPROXIMATLY ONE HOUR LATER....... "Hawk you did well, and things are back up and running here. Go find some sort of way to take a bath, YOU STINK." Junior LT Rodgers said to Hawk with a hand covered smile. "Yes Sir." Was the only reply Hawk could manage. He knew there was A LOT more to do and even less time to get it done, but the fact was HE was a distraction covered in X'Chi guts. Word was the Chimera was about ready for her final moments and the last crew were making the transition over to the Gott, he needed to hurry. ************************************************************************ * ((OOC.
