******** USS Gott ******
Moving towards main engineering, Ra’nar noticed a small splatter as he
placed his left foot on the ground, as if he had steeped into a puddle of
some kind. Slowly he pointed his rifle to the ground, a which stage the
touch on the end of the weapon illuminated the puddle of blood. “Nice.”
moaned Ra’nar in a sarcastic tone. Walsh only nodded, Ra’nar was sure that
he must have been pissed that his number two had managed to get the ODA into
such a mess.
Scanning the hall from left to right they continued moving toward the
entrance of main engineering. As they approached, Ra’nar felt something else
under his boot only this time it did not make a splatter noise, rather a
slurp. Ra’nar looked down again thinking that it felt like he had stepped on
some kind of meat, perhaps sausages. what he saw was not to dissimilar from
sausages in fact, but he suddenly had the urge to eject his breakfast than
eat. Ra’nar trace the blood trail to the corner were a gutted Engineer sat,
there was no need to check for a pause, nobody could survive wounds of that
magnitude to the stomach and chest.
Ra’nar turned away trying not to think about it, Walsh was now standing by
the closed doors waiting for Cortez to inform them of his position. They did
not have to wait long.
+Taps+ "Walsh, copy?" +Taps+
+Taps+ "Go ahead Cortez" +Taps+
+Taps+ "We're in position sir, awaiting your diversion", +Taps+
+Taps+ “Received, Standby.” +Taps+
Ra’nar moved over to the control panel ready to open the doors. Both readied
their rifles. They both had stun grenades, over wise known as ‘Flash Bangs’
because they made so mush bloody noise. Using Frag or High Explosive would
have cause damage to Engineering, possibly piecing the warp core, then all
hell would brake lose. Besides someone had noted that the X’chi always
seemed to knockout the lights when they took a deck so perhaps they were
light sensitive, if they were the stun grenades would disorientate them.
Walsh looked a grenade, armed it and then nodded to Ra’nar. He opened the
doors. Before his eyes had a chance to focus in the dark to see inside Walsh
tossed the grenade inside quickly followed by Ra’nar who then closed the
doors. After a second two bangs echoed though the hall followed by what
sounded like an unearthly scream, like nothing Ra’nar had ever herd.
Again he opened the doors. this time his eyes had a chance to adjust and he
saw what seemed like ten or maybe twelve X’chi inside. Walsh opened up
first, hitting the closest one several times in the ‘head’. Ra’nar followed
his lead, aimed for the next one and unleashed the phaser. It hit the deck.
after that things became a bit of a blur. Ra’nar and walsh could only have
been firing alone for a few seconds, four or five at the most, but it felt
like minutes. Ra’nar fired shoot after shoot in pure anger. It was only when
he noticed that the X’chi were being bombarded from the deck above that the
blur ended and Ra’nar was able to focus again, just in time to notice the
X’chi flanking him.
Ra’nar turned to his right, fired two bursts at point blank range. But the
X’chi managed to continue it’s charge. Ra’nar did not fell the impact,
strange, he would have thought that a person would have noticed part of
their bodies being sliced open but he did not reel a think thanks to the
adrenaline flowing around his body blocking out the pain.
Ra’nar fired another two bursts, this time the X’chi was Swiss chesses, full
of hole it fell to the floor. It was only when Ra’nar looked down that he
noticed his blood poring down his uniform. As if instantly the pain kicked
in. The wound was around 20ch horizontal across the stomach. Ra’nar fell to
the floor in agony, Walsh still beside him firing away.
It took a moment for his instincts to kick it. Remembering the gutted
Engineer, Ra’nar put his arm over the wound. Without doubt he could fill
something that really should have been in his stomach trying to escape out.
He pushed it back in. The pain was too agonizing to bear, but for some
reason no sound come out when he tried to scream. Ra’nar picked up his
weapon, changed the setting five, aimed at the wound and fired. Again for
some reason Ra’nar could not scream as the beam burned close the wound. He
was afraid to look at what he had done, the only thing he knew was that he
know had 1st degree burns, a small price to pay in order to keep your
intestines.
Ra’nar tried to stand but it was too painful, instead he propped himself up
in a sitting position and restarted firing, with the smell of burnt flesh
lingering around.
