===== Captain's office, OPS, SB 485 ===== Shane stood up from the chair and extended his hand for a shane with the Base CO Captain Green. "Thank you Captain for your help, its greatly appreciated" Shane said. Green shaked the hand and replied: "You are wellcome Commander. Thats the least I could do for a crew that just lost several members as well as their ship. Cargo bay 10 is the largest we have and should suit your needs. To be honest Commander I was even ordered to help you and your crew as much as I can. " Shane looked at the Captain with a strange look: "Ordered ?" he asked. {What is he trying to say?} eh asked himself. Green noded: "That orders came down from Fleet Command on behalf of SSF COMM. You Intel guys have always some friends on right spots". There was an odd faint in his look, something that Shane didnt liked at all. Images of horror and death flew in front of Shane's eyes. After a slight pause he replied in a somewhat bitter tone: "I wouldnt bet on that Captain and ... we are no ... 'Intel'" The word Intel came like with a sour taste off his lips. Shane was thinking about SSF COMM and the way they've just moved General Bretam to a desk job. "An another thing Commander" Green said after a moment of silence where the two man looked each other in the eyes like searching for an other meaning of their words, "I have already three reports about Chimera crew members beeing involved in some forms of unrest ... bar brawl, bar brawl, illegal trade ..." "Excuse me Captain?" Shane asked a bit suprised about the news. Good ... he knew there will be some drunk on this R&R and knowing the ways different crew liked each other while on the same 'playground' he expected some minor brawls as well ... but illegal trade? Green got a PADD that was (by chance?) lying on the table and went on reading: "Romulan ale – two five liters barrels ..." and looked up at Shane. "Its nothing major of course, but still its illegal. I would suggest you better look after your man Commander ... today ale, tomorrow ..." he didnt finished the sentence. Shane considered Green's words. He felt that there was some antipathy beeing build between Green and the Chimera crew and Shane could only guess why. "I will Captain" he said plainly. "Thank you for the cargo room" he said and turned aroud to leave. "How is the General?" Green asked as Shane was already standing in the door. Shane slowly turned around and thought: {Does he know anything?}. "Like a Captain loosing his ship while saving other's butts Captain ..." Shrugging slighty he said: "If you could excuse me ..." and with that left the Captain's room. As the door behind him closed, Shane went quickly down towards the Ops station. A tall blone haired Lieutenant was manning the console and looked up at Shane: "Can I help you Commander" she asked. Shane noded thinking that he had to act fast: "I could need a favour from you" he smiled, "could you please pass a message to all Chimera crew on board?" The Lieunenant smiled back at him. It was always surprising to see how much you can get when paying with a smile. "Sure way, Commander. Wanna do some party?" she asked with a slight grin. "A memorial service" Shane said quietly looking at her. "oh ..." she sighed, "I am sorry ..." "And THEN an award&promotion party" Shane interrupted her wearing a grin again. "Come along if you wish, there shall be plenty of room and bring some friends if you wish". "Is it worth to come?" she asked and raised an eyebrow and wearing a joyfull smile. "Hmm ..." Shane pretended to think about it "there will be a lot of marines and folks up for some fun, but besides that ..." he shrugged. "I'll think about it" she said but Shane knew that a LOT of woman on board the station in fact WERE interested in Chimera's marines. Well ... uniform attracts and a green collared one even more! But to e honest ... some news about Chimera's woman and their effect on the local man population reached Shane's ears as well and he knew that the right ears will get to know about the party soon enough. The message is like: "The memorial service is beeing held tomorrow noon, at 12:00 in cargo bay 10. All Chimera crew is asked to attend wearing dress uniforms. After the service there will be some awards and promotions presented and after that a party free for all." The Ops officer quickly tapped the message and broadcated in to all who were wearing Chimera's commbadge. "Thanks a lot" Shane said, "see you down there" ===== End of log ===== Cmdr.
