====== Cargo room 10, SB 485 ===== Bretam watched as Shane pulled the blade out form he scabbard and looked at the ornate etchings on the blade. After sheathing the blade Shane looked up . ”Thank you sir.” He said. Keylor though he saw what looked like a tear swell up in the corner of Shane’s eyes. Then with near stiffening of his entire body, Shane smiled. Turning back to the crew Keylor then smiled. “Now since we have you all gathered here, we figured it would be a good time to dispense with some ships business. And I feel that as his first official act as ships captain, Commander Guzman should do the honors.” Motioning to Shane Keylor stepped back and let Shane take center stage. Shane was really not not prepared for this. Till now the whole story about Bretam leaving the ship and him becoming CO seemed to be just a some sort of a dream. He would wake up soon and realise that There is everything as it should be. Till now ... Upon receiving the blade he realised that it was indeed reality. Bretam was leaving the ship and the position of the Commanding officer. The blade he just gave Shane has been always some sort of an symbol for Bretam .... a symbol of beeing a marine ... a ship's Captain. Now the blae passed over to Shane and even if he was no marine ... he was suddenly the CO. Shane was deeply touched. Shane stepped forward like in a dream and said: "Thank you General". His mind was a bit absent and his body was like on autopilot. "First I must say that it has been a great honour to serve as XO under the Command of such an officer as you are General. The shoes that are left empty with your leaving the position of CO are very hard to fill and I know that I will never fill them entirelly, but I will do my best. My best to honour your trust to me, my best to serve the ship and its crew, my best to server the federation." Looking slowly ar the vast majority of the Chimera crew assembled in the large cargo room he shouted: "Attention everyone!" He waited for a moment and as everyone in the room stood erected like a tree he called the first name: "Lieutenant Commander Rangi Summers, front and centre!" He really enjoyed the surpised look on Rangi's face as she stepped forward after a slight hesistation. It was a bit awkward to have Bretam assisting him during a pormotion. Till now it was ALWAYS the other way ... Bretam did the words and Shane handed the boxes, but now it was Bretam who had the velvet box in his hand and Shane who stood in front of the particialr oficer. "Commander Summers, you have been Chief medical officer and second executive officer on the Shimera for quite a long time now. Your dedication to duty and your superior performance was not noticed only on board our ship but even Special Forces Command took notice of that and therefore authorised me to promote you to the ran of Full Commander with all rights and proviledges that goes with this rank." Shane paused for a while till the loud and cheerish applause lessened a bit. "Since the Executive officer post on board the Chimera-A is now free there have been serious thoughts about who should fill that position. An Executive officer is the right hand of a ship's Captain and a joining link between the Captain and his crew. I am pleased to annonce that I cant think of any better canditate for this position as you Commander and hereby assign you as the Executive officer of the USS Chimera-A. Congratulations Commander!" Shane smiled at his beloved for a moment and offered his hand for a handshake. For the time beeing, there was no time to congratulate Rangi as he intended to do ... but that will be helped later. Shane stepped aside and watched for General Bretam to replace Rangi's third hollow pip with a solid one. After an another applause he looked at the assembled crew and went on. "Lieutenant Jurior Grade Oriana front and center!" Orian took is a bit longer to get in front of the crowd as she has been hidding somewhere in the middle of the rest of the crew. Shane went closer to her and said with a smile: "Lieutenant, its a long time she you have been assigned as Chief Science officer and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. I've came to the conclusion that that rank didnt suit you anymore. Therefore I hereby promote you to the rank of FULL Lieutenant with all rights and proviledges that goes with this rank." Shane offered his hand to the tall vulcan woman and said: "Congratulation Lieutenant" Again he stepped a bit aside to allow the General to change Oriana's second hollow pip for a solied one. During that time a loud applause sounded through the hall again. "Ensign Terek Weranis, front and centre!" Shane shouted and waited the little while as the blue collared Bajoran joined Rangi and Oriana in the file in the middle of the cargo room. "A many reports reached my desk where you were described asa great asset to the Science department and I have seen that by my own ears as well. Such an performance is not suitable for an Ensign and therefore" Shane paused for a moment to increase the effect, "I hereby pormote you to the rank of Lieutenant Jurion Grade with all rights and proviledges that goes with this rank." Shane grinned at bit at the fresh backed LtJg and went on: "Looks like there is a velvet box extra here for you and I have no other choice then to award you with the MANHEIM AWARD. Shane shook Terek's hand and said quietly: "Well done Lieutenant, I see great potential in you" "Private first class Ra'nar front and cetre!" Shane called continuing with the all loved promo parade. There was ALWAYS hope for the most of the crew that it was time for THEIR promotion ... and sometimes those hopes were fullfilled. Like now for the bold marine. "Major Walsh reported you as a bold man and expert in the field of medicine and marine duty and the same was reported to me by Commander Summers. I see no reason to delay such a pleasant duty and hereby promote you to the rank of Lance Corporal with all rights and proviledges that goes with this rank. Additionally I award you with the GOLDEN HEART award. Congratuations Corporal" Shane added shaking Ra'nars hand. "Corporal Richard Cortez and Lieutenant Junior Grade Rick Rodger frotn and centre!" Shane shouted again. Behind him Bretam was adjusting Ra'nars rank insignia with the right one. As the marine and the engineer arrived in the middle of the room and joinded the file of praised officers Shane went over first to Cortez and said: "Corporal, during the last mission you showed excellent battle and leadership skills and the reports that were written by your superior officer spoke of you very high. Therefore its my pleasure to award you with the SEMPER FIDELIS CROSS. We need man like you and I hope that others take inspiration from you Corporal. Congratuations!" After an another hand shake Shane went over to Rodger: "Lieutenant, you took the charge of the Engineering in a hasty time of our last mission and after the unfortunate death of our former CEO LT. Mctaggert and I am very pleased that you showed great proffesionalism and ability to lead such an large department as Engineering is. It is therefore a happy duty for me to present you with the TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE award. Continue this way Lieutenant and you may soon reach hero status on board the Chimera. Congratulations!" Turning now around to face the crown of the Chimera crew Shane pulled up a PADD out of his pocket and started reading: "In their efforts to defeat the X!Chi and save our timeline, the crew of the USS Chimera demonstrated courage and steadfast determination in the face of great obstacles and hardship. They understood the gravity of their situation, and despite the difficulties, succeeded in the defense of the timeline and history as we know it. For their efforts and dedication, it is my pleasure to award the crew of the USS Chimera with the Special Forces Cross. Congratulations to the crew, and on behalf of Starfleet Command and the Federation, thank you and well done. Signed Colonel Jennifer Cole, SSF Commander" Shane looked up from his PADD and said aloud: "Congratulations to everyone! The hard work and dedication of every single member of the crew was more then we could expect and I fully agree with Colonel Cole, the Special Forces Cross is suitable for everyone of us!" There was a long cheer and applause in teh room and the crew enjoyed the celebration and the quite unexpected award from the hands of SSF Command. It took them a while till the sound level returned into acceptable levels and Shane used that chance: "As for now, the fornalities are now over ... there is a party starting at the moment.
