"Wellcome on board" by Mumacik ===== Docking area, SD Bragg ===== Shane looked away from the huge shape that was the Chimera-A. The Katana class ship was beautifull but every ship is only just good as the crew which serves on board. Turning around, he lifted the small bag that contained all his personal belongings (besides the Ricewind picture that should be delivered to him later today) and made his way towards the connecting tube between the station and the Chimera. A majority of the crew already boarded the Chimera and the place before the entrance to the ship looked quite empty. He was instantly recognized by the ODA marines that kept guard duty there and they saluted to him. Noding for greeting Shane continued his way towars the entrance when a senior NCO appeared in his way. "Sir ... is you could please identify yourself ..." and handed him a PADD with an fingerprint identification device. Shane took the device and frowned: "Do you not know who I am sergeant?" he asked. The marine NCO looked sright at him: "I am sorry sir, untill you identify yourself I cant let you pass." The three other marines shifted at theor legs a bit uncertainly. Their sergeant was asking the CO to identify himself! Shane gave the sergeant a hard look and replied: "This is my ship sergeant and you will let me pass or I have you to shrub this all corridor with your toothbrush!" he pretended getting angry. The other marines stood tall and erect obviously glad that it wasnt them who quarreled with the CO. The Sergeant noded but gave not the way free. "Thats your right sir, but AFTER you do identify yourself." He said smiling softly. Shane finally smiled and pushed his thumb on the PADD and handing it to the Sergeant. "Good work Sergeant, the Major does have a fine man in you" The Sergeant checked the PADD and then snapped to attention: "Sir, yes, sir" he replied in a true marine fashion. Shane resumed walking in the ship but after two or three steps he stoped and turned around: "Sergeant?" he said. "Yes sir?" came the reply. "I come and check this corridor in two hours and better it is clean like a mirror" he said with a grin. "Sir, yes, sir" replied the marine sergenat wih a smilar one. ===== Some later, Turbo lift ===== Spending 5 minutes in his new quarters on deck two, section one to get rid of the his bag Shane made his way towards the bridge. He was informed that a supply crew was already on board the Chimera and whom he should expect to be on the bridge. It couldnt be said that Shane disliked the particullar officer, but he preffered to choose his crew by himself. And now ... SSF operations assigned him not only the ex-crew of the USS Monitor, but even an Intel advisor and his 2XO! Shane was quite chesed about it, but those were regular orders and orders are to be followed. As the turbo lift stopped, Shane walked slowly into the bridge. HIS bridge. For a moment he was just standing there looking at the operational heart of the ship. It was quite larger then the bridge on the old Chimera and it buzzed with activity. Pete looked over as the doors to the Bridge opened and Commander Guzman stepped out. "Captain on the Bridge" He called out and watched with pride as his entire senior staff from the Monitor came to attention "Computer Authorisation Birt Omega Gamma 6, Transfer command codes to Commander Shane Guzman" Pete Walked to the Commander and Saluted "The Chimera is yours Sir and welcome aboard" Shane looked at Pete Birt whom he remebered as a fleet Commander. In front of him but stood a marine Major and Pete was no longer a Commanding officer but an Intel advisor. {The story behind this man must be an interesting one} he thought. Shane noded and said: "Thank you Major. At ease". Looking at the main screen he said in a determined voice: "Computer, activate all command codes, Auhorisation Guzman Omega Pakos 9" The computer beeped in compliance and the all-to-known computer's female voice replied: [Command codes activated. The USS Chimera is now under the Command of Commander Shane Guzman] Shane then looked back at Pete and said: "Major would you mind joining me in the ready room?" Seeing Pete noding he turned and began to walk towards the door leading into the Captain's ready room.
