Shane then looked back at Pete and said: "Major would you mind joining me in the ready room?" Seeing Pete noding he turned and began to walk towards the door leading into the Captain's ready room. On the way he looked at the OPS officer and said: "Please let Major Walsh reporting to me in 30 minutes" Pete followed Shane to the Ready Room and entered after the Commander. =/\= Ready Room=/\= Pete smiled "Commander Guzman You will find the Chimera is preped and ready to launch" He said still standing to Attention "At ease Major" Shane said and moved over to his chair and sat himself down. He motioned the Major to take a chair in front of the desk as well and said: "I am glad to hear that. SSF Command wants us to leave very quickly. We will do that immediately after my senior officers confirm me that we are ready to go." Pete relaxed and moved to the Chair shane had indicated "This is a fine ship you have here sir" He replied "I'd have to say i think she would give in the Monitor a run for her money" He noted clearly proud of his own vessel. Shane watched the ex-Commander in the Major uniform and decided that he had to play with open cards. "Major, lets clarify few things first. I am glad when knowing where I stand and i am sure that you as well". Scratching his his he continued: "I am very sorry for your ship Major, but from now on ... you are on the USS Chimera. I've been said that your assigment here is as Intel advisor. I can live with that, even if I dont see a fit for such a position here, but I wont discuss orders from high up. But what i WILL ask from you is your loyality. From now on ... ALL of your loyality must lie with this ship and this crew. I know that a lot of your former crew is assgned here, but from NOW on there is no Monior crew and the others. Its just the crew of the USS Chimera" After a slight pause he continued: "I need to know if you can live with that Major or I have to ask for your transfer elsewhere ..." For a moment Pete just looked at the Commander he couldn't beleive his ears, 15 years in the fleet and never had he ever had his Loyality questioned "Sir Yes SIR" He said trying to keep the slightly insulted look from his face. Shane looked at Pete for a moment longer considering his reply. He knew Pete Birt from the frief assigment on his ship ... Peter was the CO and Shane just an mission specialist. Now was the situation exactly different but the charactrs of this two man were the same. Shane knew Pete was a proud and straight forward type of a man. He decided to take up the chances with his new Intel advisor. A slight smile appeared on his lips as he stood from his chair, went over to Pete and offered his hand: "Wellcome on board Major and thank you for preparing the Chimera for me" Pete stood slowly and took Shanes hand slightly taken back "Thank you Sir" He relaxed a bit Shane went back to his own chair and said: "I am sorry for my initial greeting to you, but I am not General Bretam and knowing the power games in Fleet command levels I have to watch my back. The last 'advisor' on board tought me to make first sure I can trust the other." Pete nodded in understanding realising that Shane hadn't ment anything by it only that he wanted to be sure he could trust Pete "I understand sir and lets just put it behind us" He replied Shane noded: "Sure thing, I know that you have your orders and its not my job to ask about them. You will report to SSFI or whomever about all our moves and decissions." Looking back at Pete he continued: "I can live with that, we so here what we are meant to do". Pete looked at Shane slightly confused by the question "We do what we have to sir. If the Jem Hadar have taken the Installation then i have a feeling this could turn into a ground offensive" Siping from his tea again Shane looked out the window for a moment before turning his attention back to Pete: "Please dont take it wrong ... but if any of your ordrs or actions on board this ship will endager it or its crew ... no high-up from any Intel command will be able to get on you first before I do. This ship has a fine crew and its worth .... everything" Pete smiled "As you know sir My brother died for this crew and one thing i know for sure he would want me to stand with you what ever happens" Pete felt a lump form in his throat just thinking about Steve. Steve's body had never been found noone knew for sure if he was dead or not. Shane looked at his empty cup and shrugged slightly. Lately he was drinking too much of this tea ... mayeb he should do less. "So, please tell me about you assigment here ... what are your orders and intentions ... of course" he added smiling "the official version ..." Pete smiled "Officially sir. I'm to report back to Fleet Intel with any and all information we obtain and keep you up to date on anything new from Fleet" He paused for a Moment "Un-Officially i'm to find out what they were trying to do there" "Do you really think that the Jem'Hadar are resposible for that? For now there is no proove that they are the source of all troubles. It might be an invasion of some kind, Borg, Romulans ... anyone. Maybe just technical problems on the facility" Pete nodded " I Know sir, However i doubt they would be sending Special Forces in if they thought it was technical Problems" Shane noded: "Exactly, we cant know for now. Please keep me informed about any details Intel knows about. The last time we were witholded 'details' a third of the crew had to pay for that, i dont want to happen tat again" Pete was aware of the Chimera's last mission and the price that they had paid "I know sir, I promise you this, I won't with hold anything i feel could put the ship or crew in any danger" Shane stood up and noded. "Thanks for your help Major. Dismissed!" Pete Stood and snapped off a salute "Aye sir" He said before turning on his heal and heading out the door back on to the bridge.
