=/\= XO's Office Deck 2 =/\= Jason stood outside the office and pressed the buzzer it hadn't been hard to find his way around the Katana class ship, As a Cadet he had worked for 6 months on a Katana Class under construction at the Mars shipyards. He had orginally intended to be a Ship designer but someone had convinced him to try for SSF and a year later here he was reporting to his first assignment "Come in" Rangi called and raised her eyes from her work as the door opened. She stood up as the figure stepped into the room. "may i help you?" she asked. Jason entered and moved towards the desk where a woman was standing "Ensign Jason Stephens Assitant Engineering Officer Reporting for duty Ma'am" "Ensign...please take a seat." She indicated the chair opposite her own and paused, realization hitting home that she had seen him before and this was indeed the man in Lucys photo Jason smiled slightly and moved to the chair and slowly sat "Thank you ma'am" he replied "Im sorry i havent called you earlier." she said resuming her own place. " I had to make a quick return to bragg." She looked at him steadily, her mind on the recent interview , then smiled to him. "So...tell me about yourself." Jasons smile grew "Where to start well I was born on earth in the year 1963 i served in the British Royal Air Force for most of my miltary career before joining NASA but on my first space mission there was an accident and i found myself in the Year 2399" He paused for a moment to let this influx of information settle before continuing "And well after 2 years of re-education i joined Starfleet" Rangi looked at him thoughtfully. {Yes..its definately him...i wonder if lucys met him and if so what IS she thinking?} "thats a remarkable course of events " she said and activated the inset panel on her desk. She tapped in a few commands and brought his file to read through. " So...how did you find the adjustments to this time?" she asked leaning onto her forearms on the desk. Jason thought about his responce for a few moments before responding "Well at first i found it hard....In fact sometimes i find myself missing my old life" His smiled faded for a moment "But for the most part i have settled here" Rangi nodded. " That's good." she said quietly. "We have a ships counsellor..Lt Wellington. You are ofcourse free to see her at any time should you wish to. You'll receive a call to sickbay too shortly...just for the routine medical exam." she smiled to him. " I would have done that myself until recently. i was CMO." Jason nodded "I know ma'am i have been reading up on the personnel records of the ship" He paused "I hope you understand i have seen many Counsellors over the last 5 years i would rather avoid them if i could" He smiled "They make me uncomfortable" Rangi laughed. "Me too actually." she said. Growing serious she asked "A personal question Ensign...and theres no need to answer if you prefer not. Were you married?" Jason nodded "Yes Ma'am i was...with 2 children" He thought of his wife and pulled an old wallet from his pocket a little keep sake he carred on him all the time and pulled out a old picture and offered it to Rangi "Thats my wife and our children" Leaning foward and bending her head to look at the small picture, rangi accepted it and twisted it to examine properly. She studied it carefully. {Thats not lucy} she thought { and the children are little boys...another time line?} She handed the photo back. "You must miss them all terribly." she said quietly Jason nodded "I do" He smiled "Mathew my eldest went on to become a Pilot just like me... i would have loved to have flown with him" He paused gathering himself "Alex became a professor of engineering at Bucks University Collage" She observed him for a long moment then gave a glimmer of a smile. {How terrible to know what happened...to be able to see all their lives on record...and their deaths too ofcourse. what a thing to live with} "Two sons to be VERY proud of then." she said Jason nodded "I am" He admitted "I just wish i could have been there to see them grow up" He looked slightly guilty for a moment but forced himself to smile Rangi glanced down at the desktop more to break the subject than to read anything. "You have your quarters?" she asked looking back at him. "Yes Ma'am i have been assigned quarters i haven't been there yet" He smiled thankful for the change of subject "Hopefully you'll find them comfortable." she said and smiled again tapping her finger on the desktop "It says here you helped design this ship." Jason smiled "I didn't have anything to do with the Design side Ma'am i spent my last 6months as a Cadet on the construction yards this was just one of 3 ships i worked on" He smiled slightly "I guess i have a slight heads up on the rest of the engineers" "Ahh..my mistake."Rangi replied. " I would say you have quite a bit of advantage then." Once more she smiled to him. "Please go down to engineering and report in there....but first find your quarters...at least you'll know where your new home is " Jason nodded "I do indeed" He put the wallet back in his pocket Rangi stood up and held out her hand across the desk. "Welcome aboard Ensign." she said. "if you have any problems or anything you wish to ask that your department head cant satisy <<please substitie CEO name if you think better>> dont hesitate to contact me. You know where I am. We need to have a hapy and contented crew here." Jason smiled "Thank you Commander" He let out a little laugh "I wonder what the rest of the engineers will make of me the oldest Ensign on the ship" "I'm sure they'll think of something!" she said and laughed too. "Yeah they no doubt nickname me Grandad or something" He smiled and looked at the Commander She walked around from behind her desk and moved toward the door. " Perhaps..." she said. "that might be the best they think of " She turend to face him. " Warrant officer ra'nar is the new CMO. please report to him when he requests it. Its really not good to miss medical appointments." Jason stood up and followed Rangi to the door "I see that Doctors here are just the same" He smiled "At least somethings never change" "Indeed." she replied Jason smiled "Well thank you Commander" He moved towards the door "If everyone on the ship is as welcoming as you i think i'll get on just fine here" He turned and came to attention "With your permission i'll be getting on with things" Rangi gave a nod."Dismissed Ensign" she replied and watched him exit the room. The door slid shut and she turned back to her desk wondering how things would turn out if lucy ws in sickbay when jason turned up for the medical.
