===== Bridge, USS Chimera ===== Half an hour passed since the Chimera left SB Bragg. With a steady FTL speed of warp 6 the shiney new SSF ship made its way towards it destination ... a small and unimportant planet called Sidos. Since the department from the Omega System the ship was working fine like a swiss watch and Shane only hoped it will last this way. But well ... EVERY new ship has its buggs and it was just a matter of time till those bugs will be discovered on the Chimera-A. Rangi was quite quiet during those 30 minutes, but she was watching the bridge with almost hawk-eyes. Shane had to smile in his mind ... she remebered him A LOT of an young LT some three years back on the original Chimera who was sitting in the XO chair for the very fist time as well. Shane stood up from his chair, smiled at Rangi and made a step forwards to have a betterview on the main screen. It was filled with stars changed in the warp effect. Looking away from the viewscreen he focused on the blonde LtCmdr. Behind the HELM console and asked: "Whats the estimted time till we reach Sidos Commander?" Samntha checked her console before replying: "41 hours and 13 minutes sir". Shane noded knowing that they trip was supposed to take more or less two days. He turned back to face the command seats and said with a slight smile on his face: "Commander Summers, I'll me in my ready room, you have the bridge" Rangi's expression was a bit scared one ... she was placed in command for the VERY first time ... but she said bravely: "Yes, sir". Shane turned around one more time and walked two stepps in the direction on the CO's ready room when he suddenly stoped and looked at Cadet C'el behind the Tactical console: "Cadet, please call all senior officer and Major Birt to the conference longue for a briefing in an hour". The Vulan cadet looked a bit perplexed at him back. Calling officers for a meeting wasnt usually the work of tactical ... but far more of operations. Shane would give 10 credits for the knowledge of what was the cadet just thinking, but after the slight hesistation she replied in a true textbook-officer manner: "Aye, sir". ===== One hour later, Conference longue ===== The conference longue was again a bit lager then used from the old Chimera. Shane was sitting on the head of the table and reading in a PADD he was holing in his hand, sipping from a cup of (green) tea. One after another ... the senior officers entered teh room, said that or another for greeting and took a seat at the table. It was their very first meeting since General Bretam was removed from the CO's position and noone wanted to be late. There was Rangi, who was sitting at his right, Athena Wellington next, then the CEO Rick Rodgers, and newly promoted LT. Oriana. On the other side of the table was just WO Ra'nar and Birt. There was one officer missing and it was no hard guess on who it was. Shane was about to comment that when the door hissed open and Major Walsh rushed in. He looked a bit battered ... like from an battle exercise. He muttered something about beeing sorry to be late and took his seat behind the desk. The majority of the asseembled officer served them self from the various drinks on the table and were expecting Shane to start the meeting. Puting his PADD aside Shane stood from his chair, looked at the group of assembled officers and started: "Ladies and gentleman, lets start with the briefing." Shane paused for a second: "this is the first time when I am on the place of the General and i can just hope that everyone will do his best for the mission and the ship like in Bretam's times ... or even better." Shane tapped a button on the rerote control device and a high sky picture of some colony instalations appeared on the main screen behind Shane. "Our first mission is a bit different from all we have had till now. I was informed that the facts I am going to tell you now were DOWNRATED to Top Secret and thus accesible to SSF." Shane flew with his sight over his officers: "I think I dont have to tell you the importance of this fact. This whole matter was just few days back ULTRA secret and not even Special Forces had any idea about this. I think you all will agree with me that a thing that was kept secreat even from the Special forces is a VERY hot ball in every hands and I hope it wont be our hands that will burn here." "But back to the mission" Shane said after a slight pause that was there for the officers to chew out what was just said: "We are now heading to the planet Sidos. We should arrive there in 39 hours." Shane pushed a button on the Remote control again and the picture behind him changed into a more detailed view of the colony complex. "What you see now is a secret research facily on Sidos." Shane said: "Accoring SSF Comm it was used to reeducate Jem'Hadar to become peacefull citizens of the federation" Shane saw shocked and puzzled faces looking at him.
