===== Conference lounge , USS Chimera ===== "But back to the mission" Shane said after a slight pause that was there for the officers to chew out what was just said: "We are now heading to the planet Sidos. We should arrive there in 39 hours." Shane pushed a button on the Remote control again and the picture behind him changed into a more detailed view of the colony complex. "What you see now is a secret research facily on Sidos." Shane said: "Accoring SSF Comm it was used to reeducate Jem'Hadar to become peacefull citizens of the federation" Shane saw shocked and puzzled faces looking at him. He was sure that the guys were just asking themself the same questions he was when first hearing about the mission. {Jem'hadar???????} Rangi. sitting in the seat next to Shanes, had turned to her left and leaned towards the table slightly so to see the screen clearly. Now she looked up at him with an expression that said 'Are they completely crazy!?' Only once in her life had she come face to face with a Jem'Hadar and that had been once too often. The idea of them being part of a normal everyday life was something she found difficult to grasp. She looked at Shanes half drunk cup of green tea thoughtfully. When he spoke, she looked up at him again. Shane paused and waited for the first question to be asked. There was a deadly silence in the room like everyone being reluctant to ask first. Shane looked from one face to the other but still no one asked. It was time to go on and Shane continued: "The trouble with this colony is that since a week there was no report received from it. The Colony is not responding to any calls ... in fact its maintaining a complete communication lock-out. SSF Command is not suspecting technical problems ... it would be too trivial and the personal in the Colony is more then capable to handle technical issued of any kind." Making no pause Shane continued with his speach: "SSF Command has no idea what's the cause for the sudden communication lock-out. It might be anything from some freaking space phenomenon, through civilian unrest to an invasion by alien forces. One point is that long range sensors didn't pick anything unusual near Sidos in the recent past and nothing indicates on outside powers being in play there. The other point is that only few of our past missions were easy or predictable, so I expect only the worst". Shane shrugged slightly like he was not too happy about the words all were expecting now: "Its our mission to find out about there whereabouts of the Colony and if possible to return everything into normal level." This was the first time someone asked a question: "What should we expect when arriving at Sidos sir?" Shane walked over to his seat again and sat himself. Only then he responded: "A just question, but as I said before I don't know. Maybe a cloaked Romulan invasion fleet or a medical crisis that wiped out half of the colony." As expected it was Athena who asked the question: "What do we know about the Jem'hadar and the reeducation program they were part of?" Shane smiled. He expected this question being asked a bit sooner. "Not much. Information from SSF Command say that those Jem'hadar on Sidos were mean to change into peaceful citizens of the federation. If there was a medical side of the reeducation progress in play I don't know ... maybe. If the Ketracel-white addiction was solved I don't know ... maybe. Please keep in mind that this project was ULTRA secrets till recent past and there just are NONE information available to us. One point that is certain through is the fact that the Jem'hadar were surgically altered to fit better in the common citizenship of the federation and some of them are already placed outside Sidos. " To ease the situation Shane tried to make a joke: "Who knows, maybe the tall good looking guy or the sexy girl you have met on SB 485 were in fact those Jem'hadar ...." and smiled. "Anyway, the last bit of information we have is that all those Jem'hadar refer to themselves as Marduk". Like one or two others, Rangi flicked a polite smile in responce. "Do we have any idea how many have been included in this 're-education' " she asked. Shane shook his head: "Thats again an information that is not aviable for SSF or SSF doesnt think its wise to share their knowledge with us. That means - no ... we dont" Shane looked again at the assembled officers and continued again in a matter-of-fact tone: "As I explained earlier we cant make real preparations for the mission but there are still things that can be done and here we go" Shane looked at Ra'nar and said: "Warrant officer, I want you and the medical staff to look up any information available about the Mar'duk you can find. I don't suppose you will find tons of data but every bit is good. Cause there IS a certain probability that we will find a medical emergency on Sidos, I want you to prepare your staff for a large scale treatment. Please coordinate your activities with Commander Summers". Rangi looked across the table to Ra'nar and met his eyes.Silently they acknowledged the order. Ra’nar was surprisingly calm given the circumstances, it had been nine years since his last encounter with the Jem’hadar. “Sir, do we have any information on why the Federation would want to try and re-educate those murdering b…”Ra’nar stopped himself mid sentence. Shane looked with surprise at his new CMO. {Bastards?} he asked himself what was the exact word Ra'nar didnt finish. Alike most fleet officers ... Shane's feelings about the Jem'hadar were definitelly not positive, but there was something more for Ra'nar about the Jem'hadar ... someting personal. Reasons for most of Intel business were hard to guess and even harder to explain and thats why they were generally not revealed to anyone outside high levels of Intel Command. Shane shook his head slightly again. {Too many unanswered questions ...} he thought. "No Warrant officer, we dont posses that knowledge eighter. Maybe were their intention only good ... to allow even the Jem'hadar to live a peacefull and usefull life in the wellcoming brace of the federation" he said with only the slightest trace of irony in his voice, "but I suppose there had to be done with them after the dominion wars" “Should have lined them against a walk and shoot them all.” Said Ra’nar out of tone for his new position as CMO. If Shane was declined to agree with Ra'nar in his mind stayed unclear as he acted like a Starfleet Captain was supposed to act. He looked hard at the CMO and said: "Such words are inpropriate for an fleet officer Mr. Ra'nar. Your personal feelings towards the Jem'hadar should remain private. In Duty and Public you have to treat the Jem'hadar like you would Klingons or Humans. I hope that is clear now." Turning to Lt. Rodgers Shane said: "Lieutenant, your task is plain ... make all ship's systems work till we arrive at Sidos. I don't want any surprises like "I am sorry sir, the tranporters are off-line" when we will need to evacuate 1000 sick people from the colony" Turning to the Vulcan CSCiO Shane said smiling: "For you Lieutenant its the right time to try out all your shiny new equipment in atrometrics. Having in mind our last mission I think it isn't impossible that some freaking super-duper anomaly is affecting the colony systems. If its is so ... I want to know. And Lieutenant" Shane said and paused: "Please sooner as when we will be affected by anything as well. Reports like "Sir, there IS an anomaly here and we CANT send a message to SSF Comm either ISNT a way how to make me happy". Shane's eyes now rested on the blonde HELM officer: "Commander, since we are a bit lacking of tactical crew I want you and cadet C'el doing regularly scans of this sector. Who knows maybe there really IS a hidden ship r a fleet somewhere there. Maybe is all this Jem'hadar issue a gigant trap and I won't be caught with my pants down out there." Seeing a bit of amusement in the Commander's eyes he added: "Literary speaking of course". At last but no way least were security risks and the Major who came late to the meeting. This time Shane didn't issued any orders just asked: "Major Walsh, what are your suggestions for preparations the ODA should do before we will arrive at Sidos?" Pete waited until everyone had finished there reports and when Guzman asked if anyone had anything to add Pete looked at the Commander "Sir i have fresh information from Intel i think might throw some light on a few of your questions" He paused "If i may use the breifing screen?" He asked. Shane noded. New informations were always a good thing but even better would to know them before all the idle talk of "I dont know". Pete stood and moved to the screen uploading the information Bourne had just given him and bringing it up on the screen "Ok these images were taken a little over 2 hours ago by a Orbiting array" He looked at the face's around the table taking in the images on the screen of the semi destroyed installation " As you can tell the Complex has taken heavy damage and its clear there was a massive fire fight down there" He tapped the padd and the image on the screen zoomed in showing several heat signitures in and around the base "These are clearly heat signitures however we can assume that they are Jem Hadar using the shrouding ability but due to lack of positive confirmation i wouldn't want to say thats 100% certain as at this time we just don't have the facts" Pete stopped and looked around once more "Any questions so far?" He asked the room before looking at Guzman who nodded for Pete to continue Pete tapped the padd again and this time the sencor scan's of the surrounding space appeared "As you can see from the sencor data there has been a lot of recent activity in the area" He singled out one warp signiture from the scan and enlarged the data "Our tech guys think they are from Breen vessels but I trust a Science and Operations Officers opinion over some guy sitting behind a desk" He turned to Commander Guzman "Sir your Team might have better luck in making a positive id of these scans" He said offering the Commander the padd containing the information " That everything i have so far, when i get more intel i'll make sure your the first to know" Pete smiled and headed back to his seat. Shane noded to Pete and looked at the rest of the officers. "Heavy damage, fire fight and unknown warp signatures." He said: "That still could be results of an critical engineering incident with some one trying to save the Marduk, but the same an assault by an unknown force." Looking at Ra'nar he added: "Maybe there are others with BAD feelings about the Jem'hadar and what we see is the outcome of their 'visit' but all that are just speculations." Pausing for a moment he looked at Birt and back at Ra'nar and then at the rest of the senior staff: "All right, you have your orders, lets get back to work. Dimissed!" As the officers started to stand up from their seats Shane went over to Athena and said: "Athena please stay for a moment" ===== End og log ===== << OOC ... if anyone wants to add to this, be my guest >> Cmdr.
