--== Begin Log ==-- [Ripley's Office, SB Bragg] Gerrin sat down the PADD Ripley had given him. "Just as I thought today was going to be boring," he said, leaning back in his chair. "Frankly, none of this makes any sense whatsoever." "My thoughts exactly," Ripley replied. "Why would the Federation want to re-educate Jem'Hadar, to turn them into--" he picked up the PADD-- "productive Federation citizens?" he said, reading from it. He sat it down once again. "That's like telling an ant not to feed its queen." "You got me," Ripley said. "I asked as much as the staff meeting, but Colonel Cole wasn't able to provide any answers. Apparently Starfleet Command doesn't want to share all the information with us. They blacked out certain aspects of the report." "Then how can they expect us to handle the situation properly?" Gerrin asked. "SSF officers hold some of the top clearance levels. I didn't think you could get much more classified than that." "You can't, which again makes me wonder at the intentions of Einhoften, and who set about implementing the program. But that's idle wondering. At the moment, we don't have that information, and it doesn't look like we'll be getting it anytime soon. For the time being, we'll focus on our assigned task, and hope that Captain Geiger or someone else will be able to give us a little more information in the near future." "What have we been asked to do?" Gerrin said, leaning forward. "Compile a report on the possible political implications that may come about from this situation," Ripley said. "That's not going to be difficult," Gerrin said. "If the re-education techniques were unsuccessful, and some of the Marduk have been released on planets within the Federation, we could have a big problem on our hands." "And not just for some of the planetary governments within the Federation," Ripley said. "This could extend beyond us. What is some of the Marduk left the planets they were originally released on?" Ripley asked sounding as though she were referring to animals being released. "They could be anywhere." Gerrin cleared his throat. "I'm afraid to ask, but are we aware of which planets they were released on?" "No," Ripley said flatly. "From what we were told, that information doesn't exist anywhere outside Einhoften. I don't even think anyone at Starfleet Command knows, if you can believe that, which makes it all that more difficult to compile a logical report on that possible political affects. The only good news I have about all of this is that the USS Chimera was assigned to look into what happened at Einhoften. They may be able to get some of the information that we need." "That doesn't help us right now," Gerrin said. "No, it doesn't. But we're just going to have to work with what we do have, and try and make some educated guesses on the impacts. I mean, we don't even know if it was the re-educated Jem'Hadar that took over Einhoften, or destroyed it, or whatever. It could have been a group of Jem'Hadar that had yet to be...shown the light," she said, her voice full of sarcasm. "But given that we don't know, we're going to have to take a worst case scenario approach to this." "Well, sounds like we had better get started," Gerrin said. "Yeah, sounds like it," Ripley said, and she picked up the PADD on her desk to read it another time over just so she was sure she had the facts straight. --== End Log ==-- Captain Dana Ripley Political Advisor SSF Command Commander Gerrin Chaye Dep.
