******** Main Engineering *********** Hawk had been in engineering pretty much since they boarded the chimera-a. Rick had been tirelessly directing the dept, getting everything ready for "real" operation. Starfleet always thinks that a brand new ship as state of the art and ready for hell or high water. That's not entirely true though, not until the staff engineers get onboard and give her a once or even twice over. The first thing Rick and Hawk did once they got the specs on the chip was start to plan upgrades and such. A triple bypass here and extra flow inverter there, and such, even a seven way redundant safety shutdown wasn't unheard of. The only limiting factor to the improvements was the fact of if it was possible to implement the upgrade without causing any harm or such. But the fact was that Hawk was damn tired and needed to relax a bit. He wasn't going to head to his quarters just yet as he was more hungry than tired. All he needed to do was jump from deck fifteen to deck seven, eat a bit, maybe get a drink and then get five or six hours sleep. His actual shift was back on duty within seven hours so he needed to get a little sleep. Likely he would volunteer for another 12 to 18 hour day again tomorrow. He needed to get to know the new ship like the back of his hand so until he did he wasn't going to relax. **** deck 7, ships lounge/main mess **** He entered rather quietly and made a beeline for the nearest empty table. He just wanted to do the basics and get back out, no need for socialization right now. From across the lounge Bev noticed a tall yellow collared gentleman enter the room. He sat very quickly and barely even looked up. Made an order for food and sat waiting. She decided that this would be a good time to inform Hawk that she was now a shipmate. She was delighted to get off starbase 485 and into a real assignment. That and she had a friend already made this wonderful all around. She intercepted the server and took Hawks food. He barely even looked up as she sat the food down and he eagerly began eating without even a thank you. She stood and waited for him to look up but he didn't. After another brief moment she cleared her throat and he did look up. He began to apologize for not thanking her and paused as he recognized her. He was surprised to see her and even more surprised to hear she was a crewmate now. The two caught up and Hawk pointed out that he was VERY tired and they needed to make plans to get together a little later.
