“Hold it there!” shouted Ra’nar, pressing down on the exposed leg artery.
Vadin pushed down as Ra’nar worked a regenerator over the leg of the wounded
security officer.
Even though there wasn’t any killed from the two bombs but there was many
wounded from shrapnel, turns out that bulk heads make nasty when exposed to
high explosives. The Medical team were working over time, most of the
doctors and nurses were working on the wounded, one or two were still on
deck eleven helping a few of the walking wounded. The EMH was still
activated and helping out, ra’nar was aware that many doctors hated EMH’s
but Ra’nar considered them a handy tool.
After half an hour all the wounded had ever been fixed up and had left or
were asleep in the bio beds. Ra’nar sighed looking around, already their
small crew had taken casualties. Scott gave Ra’nar a tap on the shoulder as
he left the sickbay in search of some food no doubt.
Ra’nar strolled into his office as the com beeped. Ra’nar sat at this desk
an opened a channel.
"Bridge to Sickbay" came the Commanders voice.
"Ra'nar here Commander"
"Mr. Ra'nar, I was asking myself if there was anything new discovered about
the
Jem'hadar addition of Ketracel-white. I mean that I would like to know if
starfleet ever discovered a way how to make the Jem'hadar not needing a
constant
supply of Ketralcel-white. Cause if not, that means that the Marduk are
still
addicted to that drung and need to have a supply of Ketracel in Einhoften.
Please skimm through all federational databanks and give me a full report
about
it as soon as possible"
"I'll do my best sir" said Ra’nar become closing the channe.
It made sense, Ra’nar knew a little about the Jem’hadar. Ra’nar walked over
to the replicator and got himself a glass of water, took of his jacket,
which was all ready covered in red and green blood, then took his seat
again. He knew that it would be difficult to find anything.
=/\= 20 minutes later =/\=
Ra’nar had searched all the federation databases he had access to. Every
time he fought he was getting somewhere he would get locked out of the
system, he even got one message saying that his clearance number would be
sent to Starfleet Command, as if he was some kind of a traitor asking for
secrets. He was getting absolutely nowhere. The SSF information was not much
better he had looked though it three times and still nothing, in the end he
tossed the Padd to the floor.
Ra’nar just sat, thinking, analysing the problem over in his head for a
moment. After some time an idea hit him, it was so obvious. {You can’t keep
Inspector Ra’nar of Scotland yard down for long,} thought Ra’nar with a
smile on his face, {if Starfleet wont give me the information I will get it
elsewhere.}
Ra’nar tapped into his consol, putting in his highest security level codes.
Chief medical officers did not have the highest level of secret codes so
Ra’nar had to input some extras that he had ‘acquired’ while on Bragg. What
he was about to do was not exactly legal and he did not want anybody to pick
up the transmission.
Ra’nar entered the search for the vessel CSS Valdara, a keldon class
destroyer, one of Cardassia’s finest. After another moment a grey haired
Cardassian appeared on screen.
“Who are you? What do you want?” asked the old man sitting in the command
chair with his entire bridge staff sitting around him.
{damn it.} Ra’nar had wanted to keep this relatively quite, now twelve
Cardassian officers had seen him.
“Don’t you remember me old man?” Said Ra’nar.
For a moment the man looked shocked even insulted, then he looked harder.
“Ra’nar? Ra’nar is that you?”
Ra’nar just smiled.
“HA!” The man turned to his bridge staff, “this is one of my agents in the
federation.”
Ra’nar cringed at the joke.
“Can we speak privately.” The Comm when dead for a few seconds, then it was
reactive. The man had moved to his ready room.
“How can I help you, Ra’nar?” asked the man.
“I need information.” Said Ra’nar bluntly.
The old man shock his head from side to side, “You want to visit home, I can
help. You want a nice gift, I can help. Hell you want to enlist in the fleet
I can pull some strings and get you assigned to my vessel.” He pulsed, “But
wearing THAT uniform, I can not help you with information.”
Ra’nar leaned forward, “You know when I was a child I used to dream of being
a musician, now I dream of walking over dead bodies because I have done it.
It’s like walking over pillows, they move under your feet, you think your
going to fall flat on your face. I saved your sons life, my father saved
yours.” Ra’nar leaned further forward, “I, Ra’nar, son of Ta'vek, need some
information.”
The man sighed, “Want do you want to know?”
“That last night. The attack on Cardassia four, we and the Romulans captured
the cloning facilities and ship yards.”
The man nodded, “I remember”
“What happened to all that Equipment?” Asked Ra’nar in a quite voice.
The man, “sighed, If I told you I would be dead before tomorrow. I am
sorry.” With that the comm went dead.
Ra’nar was just about to throw his glass of water across the room in a fit
of rage, when his consol beeped. Ra’nar switched it on to find a ‘package.’
He opened it, inside was compressed data containing hours worth of reading
about what happened to the equipment.
It seemed that the Romulans had got half of the shipyards operational for
the Union and took the other half as payment. The cloning equipment was left
in the hands of cardassian scientists. They played around with the
Ketralcel-white, trying to see if the violent tendances could be taken away
somehow. They seemed to find away that only one dose of Ketralcel white
would needed to be given in a Jem’hadar’s life time by introducing
namo-probes into the white that replicate the needed enzyme that all
Jem’hadar, it seemed like a major break through. With this they could
convince the Jem’hadar never to attack the union again, however the
government sceptical and two months later the Federation offered to take all
the information and equipment of their hands for the price of twenty-five
industrial replicators, forty soil enhancement units and three hundred
industrial energy units.
The System was a mess, most major cities destroyed, famine was a huge
problem and all major sources of power supply was destroyed. The Government
was more than happy to make the exchange.
Ra’nar shock his head and reopened his Comm.
“Captain, Ra’nar hear.”
“Got any news for me doctor.” Asked the commander.
“ I’m sending you some information. It may be best not to ask where I got it
from, but it appears that the jem’hadar no longer need White to survive
sir.”
There was silence on the other end of the comm, Ra’nar sent the information
and closed the com.
