Things were moving on this Marduk business. The Chimera had arrived on station and filed two preliminary reports. The Einhoften facility was predictably sensor shielded, as well as covered decently well with transport inhibitors. Still no contact to hails, and Cmdr. Guzman was deploying ground teams to take a closer look. Jeni had minor concerns about sending a brand new Commanding Officer, in a squeaky new ship out on such a mission, but the Commander came with an excellent reputation, and solid record. It wasn't an easy mission, but easy didn't often come around in Starfleet, much less within the Special Forces. Even as she assigned them, and now saw some of their reports, she itched to be in his place. Her last several assignments had be desk bound, and she had the itch to get back out there, get back to the pointy end of the spear. It wasn't to say she didn't derive particular satisfaction from her last and current post, or that they weren't important. If anything, they were more important than being out there.. but no one signed up to push paper and ride pine. You wanted to be out there, in the action. Sometimes Jeni wondered if she'd ever get another independent combat command, especially after spending so many years in the rear with the gear. Giving her head a shake, Jeni returned her thoughts to the present. They were getting bits and pieces of intel, mostly unofficial, but it was helping to paint a slightly larger picture of the situation. Much of the gains came from the hard work of Capt. Ripley, long time SSFCOM Political Advisor, and LCol. Bourne, a relatively new addition taking over as Deputy Intelligence Director. Their efforts had bore fruit, and Jeni made a mental note of it. She leaned back in her chair, and scrolled down on her PADD. It contained a handful of reports, earmarked by Luc, regarding civilian shipping losses. It didn't take long before Jeni understood why Luc had highlighted them. Individually, each incident wasn't much to look at. Civilian shipping losses, whether due to mechanical problems, paperwork snafus or armed pirates were not out of the ordinary. However, all four of these incidents had similar scenarios, and in areas that they only recently discovered Marduk were sent to. "..organized, efficient.." Jeni mumbled slightly, skimming and moving down the document, "..medical.. minerals.." Jeni locked out the PADD, before getting up and donning her uniform jacket again. It could be nothing, but it could just as likely be something.. but either way, it was enough to flag and confirm. Switching her commbadge from her green uniform undershirt to the outer jacket, she zipped the front and headed out the door, PADD in hand. If the implication was true, they were in for something of an escalation.
