===== CO's ready room, USS Chimera ===== Shane stroked Ranhi's hair gently and said: "Please go now my love and have a rest". She smiled on his but Shane knew she doesnt feel like smiling. Too much happened on the planet and she saw too much fighting and death for a day. She shook her head slightly and said: "No Shane, there are still man down on Sidos ... we need to rescue them somehow". Shane smiled at her as well and replied in a soft tone: "I'll take care about it Rangi, dont worry, i wont let them die down there. But please you need rest". Rangi shook her head again and started to protest again: "Shane ..." This time Shane shooh his head and said in a determined voice: "Thats an order Commander. Until you have had a decent rest, I do not want to see you on the bridge." He half-ways grinned: "And dont try to fool me darling, you know I am a medical man as well and I can say who did rest and who not." Rangi looked like she would keep protesting but then she only noded: "Sir, yes sir" with a weak smile on her face. Shane motioned her to the exit door from his ready room and followed her. On the bridge their paths parted, Rangi stepped into the turbo lift and Shane went over to the CO's seat. It was hardly more then 10 minutes after the shuttle with a part of the away team docked in the shuttle bay. The flight control officer Tomalak was scared to death during the final part of the docking process ... for a moment the shuttle seemed to be out of control, threating to destroy half the shuttle bay. Luckily ... it landed safely and Rangi, Terek a Jem'hadar and several marines stepped out of the shuttle. Ensign Okrin had to be beamed directly to the sickbay with severe injuries. After the obligate quick medical check Rangi made her way to the bridge where she made a full report to Shane in his ready room. He was briefly told about the events on the Einhoften facility, the labs they've encountered, the secret research program involving the Jem'hadar and the strong Jem'hadar resistance. He became a copy of a post-morten report Ens. Okrin made about a dead Jem'hadar as well as a brief report about the Jem'hadar called N'et'vor who was now on board the Chimera. The Jem'hadar was placed temporary into custody and now enjoyed one of the Chimera's prison cells. Rangi told him about the fragment data that hinted to the presence of Starfleet Intel on the facility. Intel involving in this affair was nothing new. Even the initial orders from SSF Command suggested Intel presence in the Marduk project, but now the puzzle slowly started to take shape. Here fitted the report from LT. Oriana about forbidden chemicals, statements from the captured Jem'hadar about genetical and psychological experiments with the Jem'hadar and the TOP level of secrevy this all stuff was covered with. It began to be clear that the Marduk experiment approved by Fleet Intel and most probably someone higher doesnt went out of hand by an accident. The presence of forbidden chemicals and fragments of genetical research as well as the advanced organisation of the Jem'hadar soldiers, plus the level of how much were those Jem'hadar armed and the facility protected ... suggested that someone was using the Marduk project for their own purpouses. The fact that those purpouses were most probably hostile to the federation was clear at hand. The most important piece of the puzzle was still missing. WHO and WHY was using the Marduk was still unknown ... as well as informations about the purpose of the Marduk. The recent accident of data downloading from the Chimera's computer about the progress of their mission hinted that someone within Fleet Intel (SSF, SSFI, SFI ...) was more interested in the affair then their should be. {Could this be a part of some Intel vs. Intel game? Like SFI wanting to blame SSF or SSFI playing games with SFI?" Shane asked himself. He knew that he was told very little about the whole project when assigment for this mission. That made him angry ... there he was, risking the life of his crew (nd his beloved) ... and all just cause some freaking intel games? Cause some old intel bats having some fun? Shane shook his head and dismissed those thoughts. For the moment, there were more urgent matters to take care about. There were still man from his crew on the planet and according Rangi's report involved in fierce skirmishes with the Jem'hadar. Shane thought about options ... he could send all remaining ODA forces down to Einhoften and hope the best ... or get the first aay team back to the Chimera ... regroup and charge again. The latter seemed to be more wise ... Walsh and Cortez could provide him with valuable tactical informations and they could develope a plan and maybe this time be a match for the Marduk. Rangi knew only a little about the numbers of Jem'hadar souldiers on Einhoften or about their deployment and even less about the human Einhoften crew held captured down there. Shane hoped that his Nr.1 and 2 from ODA could provide him with more info. But first ... he needed to have them back on the ship ... safe and sound. Shane stood up from his chair and turning towards Foster he ordered: "Lieutenant, please have the Warhammer fighters prepare for heading down to Einhoften. I want four marines in each fighter as fire support. They are to head down to the planet and search for the rest of the away team ... but only outside the complex. Once located, they have to evacuate them immediately. "Understood sir" said Foster wearing his usual facial expression. The three Warhammer assault fighters left the Chimera in less then five minutes ... heading towards the Einhoften facility. The crew of the fighters hoped to find more then dead corpses of their comrades down there ... ===== End of log ===== Cmdr. Shane Guzman CO USS Chimera
