"Jill..'please'..just calm down."
"I AM calm" replied the dark haired woman through gritted teeth as she stood rigid, her gaze locked on the man standing opposite her.
Rangi noticed the woman clench and unclench her fists and glanced at Nurse Fleming who was giving her a 'See what I mean?' look.
"Miss Hawkins.." Rangi said quietly tapping the back of the chair in front of her, " Please, sit down for a moment."
"I dont 'need' to sit down!" came the reply and Jill Hawkins closed her eyes as though mentally counting to ten in an effort not to lose her temper completely.
When she reopened them, she glanced at the three people waiting for her to comply and sighed dramatically.
"Oh...for goodness sake!" she said and sat down heavily on the chair.
"This is wasting time" she said impatiently. "I have things I need to do...and I really dont see why you insist on keeping me here."
Her eyes followed Rangi, who moved to the biobed and leaned on its edge.
"Miss Hawkins.." Rangi began but was quickly interrupted.
"Look...I am not ill...I am not injured...I have no need of 'any' medical attention. "
The scientist counted on her fingers to emphasis each point as she stated it.
" I am absoluetly fine..never better." she added with a touch of sarcasm, spreading her hands wide."So I would really appreciate you signing a release and letting me leave."
"The CMO needs to check you're ok" Nurse Fleming said and received a withering look for her trouble.
"Miss Hawkins.." Rangi tried again but as before, was cut off before she could say more.
"You say you're the XO?...Good.." Jill rushed on, not waiting for confirmation."....then theres no need to wait for some puffed up CMO..YOU can release me."
"I'm sorry but I can't do that." Rangi replied in a reasonable tone.
" You're required to have a medical check and Ra'nar will do that for you."
Jill sprang to her feet.
"What IS it about you people!" she exclaimed. "I've told you...there's no need for a doctor. Dont you understand English?"
"Yes I do." Rangi replied, hiding her surprise at the outburst and pushing herself off the side of the biobed. "...and I've told you that you are required to see one."
"Where is he then" Jill demanded looking around the sickbay for signs of anyone who might be the elusive Ra'nar. "Is that him?"
She pointed towards Scott Fisher who was standing at a work station some distance away, busy at a console.
"No..thats one of the AMOs." Rangi answered, glancing at Scott.

Unable to sleep for longer,Rangi had decided to risk Shanes displeasure and return to the Bridge, but once in the turbo lift had thought a short detour to sickbay wouldnt harm.
She had wanted to check on Okrin and see what else was happening there but she'd hardly gone ten steps through the door when Lucy had called her attention and hurried to meet her.
"I'm glad you've come" the nurse had said. "We've got a slight problem..."
She had explained how two of the Einhoften scientists, hostages from one of the shuttles, had been brought to sickbay.
Though both appeared to be unharmed apart from minor bruising from restraints, one of the two had suddenly become agitated and repeatedly requested to be released from sickbay.
Rangi had followed Lucy to where they stood and coming within earshot of the scientists, had heard the woman talking about 'unfinished work' and ' the captain helping them'
When she had seen Rangi approaching however, Jill had fallen silent on the subject at once and instead had repeated her demands for release.

Now, learning that the CMO still was not coming, Jill slammed her fist down hard on the med trolley beside her.
"This is insane!" she cried.
The medtrolley, although strong enough for its intended use, had had a chequered history, being the one kicked aside by Ra'nar when he too had been annoyed recently.
Jills heavy hand was too much for one of its wheels which snapped off causing the main body to tilt. Everything on it slid, fast or slowly, depending on weight, towards the edge where it fell, bouncing or shattering onto the floor.
That was least of the effect, for Jills fist had caught the edge of a med tray which, taking the opposite force, flew up into the air in an arc that shot it straight onto Rangis cheekbone beneath her left eye.
"Jill !" John Hawkins cried out, catching hold of her arm.
"Rangi !" Lucy cried out, reaching forward towards her.
"Owwww!!" Rangi cried out, raising her hand to her face and gasping at the sudden pain.
"Enough...stop it.." John said, fighting to hold Jills arm.
"Are you alright?" Lucy said peering at Rangi in concern.
"Ooohhh" Rangi said and looked at her hand half expecting to see blood on her fingers. "Yes I am" she said, holding her face again and eyeing Jill with distrust.
She lowered her hand and glanced at it again, saw no sign of blood and said to Lucy. "Twoo cc's Ambrozine"
Lucy nodded and turned away. Rangi tentatively touched the cheekbone where the flying tray had struck her.
Lucy hurried back with a loaded hypospray.
Rangi accepted it, stepped towards Jill who was trying to free herself from Johns hold.
"This is a sedative." Rangi said and administed the medication before Jill had time to say anything.
Ten minutes later Rangi stood in the turbo lift as it approached the Bridge.
Her cheek was reddened from the blow and she expected a bruise later, though the skin was unbroken.
She had ordered Jill Hawkins to be kept under close watch until Ra'nar had examined her and given the ok for her release.
Rangi had not waited to see Okrin after all, electing to go straight to the Bridge.
She couldnt understand why the scientist would be so agitated about waiting for a simple medical check and wondered at what she and John Radcliffe had been discussing.
{ 'Unfinished work'...'ask the captain to help'... What do they want Shane to do?} she wondered.
With a last touch to her cheek, she stepped forward as the doors slid open and walked towards Shane who sat in the CO chair.
