Walsh's team had made it to the way point first and had already managed to contact the Chimera, now that they were out of the range of the compounds inhibitors. Richard nodded towards the Major as he approached him. "What the fuck is that smell Lieutenant", he said sniffing his head to the side. "Trust me, you don't want to know", Cortez replied, practically laying down on a large rock. "We ran into a patrol on our way here", he continued, "so we made sure to double our zigzag pattern so that we had no followers", Richard said as he poured a canteen full of water over his face. Walsh nodded, "Well I'm glad you made it, once we lost site of you at the compound I wasn't sure what happened to you guys". Richard smirked, he always knew Walsh was a softy, "So when are we heading back in", he asked looking up at the Major. Suddenly Walsh's face turned cold, "We're not", he answered, "Guzman's pulling us out-". "What", Richard interrupted. "That's bullshit, we cant just leave now, we've got too much invested in this. What about Commander Summers and her team". "Apparently they already made it out", Walsh said with a smirk, "stole a shuttle or something", he paused, "anyways, the shuttles will be here in about an hour, I'm gonna need you and the rest to help finish clearing a landing zone for them, the shuttles will be vulnerable to attack when they touch down, so we'll need to load up as fast as possible." "Aye", Richard nodded standing up. "Fleet does the flying, ODA does the dying", he grunted as headed towards the halfway done landing zone. == Roughly an hour later == The ODA quickly gathered onto the shuttles as they touched down and as usual Walsh was the last one on.
