Okrin leaned on a biobed, in a clean duty uniform. After his return, he
had received the medical aid he required. The chemicals that had attacked
his exposed skin had only burnt the areas and a few minutes of
dermalregeneration and a few pain killers had done the job. He had then
returned to his quarters for a quick shower and a uniform and now he was
suppose to clear every hostage rescued from the enemy shuttles, six in
total.
He grabbed a PADD which contained the information of one of the Einhoften
employee. "Jack Auburn." He read outloud, moving to the seclusion area where
they all waited. They where placed there as a preventive measure for all
newcomers to the ship that had no record in the medical database. To them it
was a waiting area, as told, to every medical personel, it was known as
'Quarantine'. Not the actual thing, just an area where they would only leave
if cleared by medical personel.
Penetrating in the room, he repeated the name, to which a man replied and
stood. Okrin introduced himself, to which the man answered in kind. They
both proceeded to the examination ward, where the patient sat on a biobed.
Okrin started with the typical questions confirming the information gathered
by the triage nurse and asked an indept history of the man's health.
Everything seemed in order, as far as Jack knew. Okrin nodded and moved to
the sampling stage of the examination.
He placed a blood extractor to the man's neck and the vial started to
fill up with the dark red liquid.
"Let me go." The man said, in a calm voice, but somehow seemed to be
losing control, kind of struggling against the emotion, Okrin observed.
"No, not yet. I still have to run a few tests and I need some bio samples
from you and your fellow co-workers." He replied, trying to have him relax,
by explaning what was going on, yet again. He lowered his instrument on a
side tray, still keeping a close eye on the man. He showed signs of anger,
he seemed disturbed, not quite himself.
"NO, NO, NO!!" He shouted. "I want out of here right now, and you're
going to let me go!!" He stressed on Okrin his definite intention to get
away, no matter what.
Now everyone looked in their direction. Okrin moved back a step and
extended his hand where Nurse Fleming placed a loaded hypospray with
anesthezine. It was now protocol to have a loaded Hypo with a sedative handy
when the ship was on a mission. Everyone was briefed on that procedure and
security could be called when things did not go as planned.
"This last one." Okrin lied. "I swear, the last one." The man raged and
jumped on the bajoran medical officer. He pushed both of them to the floor.
Okrin let himself fall to the floor with the Einhoften scientist on top of
him. It was pretty easy to place the hypo to the man's neck and he injected
enough sedative to have a Klingon sleep through a planetary bombardment. As
fast as it had started, it was over.
They placed the sedated patient on the biobed and activated a restraining
field around him. The remaining tissue samples and scans where performed and
he remained the most quiet patient this sickbay had ever seen, did not
complain once.
Okrin moved with the vials to the lab to test them for all that is known
to man, and determine their health status.
"Terek to sickbay, I've just found a log from someone who might be on one
of the shuttles in the hangar. It mentions something that might interest
you. Sending it to you now. It may be only a false clue, but perhaps there
is some patogen aboard."
"Understood." Okrin replied, tapping his combadge. He placed the vials in
the analyser and he just had to wait for the results. But he chose to let
the machine work and proceeded to read what Terek had sent sickbay's way. He
accessed the terminal and read what was displayed.
"AH Shit." He breathed out. "Computer establish a quarantine field around
sickbay and in the waiting area with our guests." The computer chirped in
acknowledgement and the different fields appeared, blocking all access to
sickbay and protecting the ship from further contamination. He immediatly
contacted the bridge to explain the situation then gathered all duty
personel to explain the situation...
