==/\ Deck four, sensor pallet storage /\==
Hawk couldn't figure for the life of him that main power for sensor grid
showed no faults. The computer on even a basic diagnostic reported all
systems nominal. Lt Terek was on his way to assist because things were
beginning to take an abnormal turn. Maybe between the two areas of
knowledge they could piece together what was going on.
"Computer, run a level 1 diagnostic on sensor pallet Beta 3 alpha." Hawk
said aloud to the computer. The computer chimed back with the proper
acknowledgment. At that point Terek entered the room.
On his way on the deck four Terek tried to recall his knowledge about
sensor systems. He learned a few of the interesting improvements during
his first mission on the chimera when there were continuous problems
with sensors due to the installation of the temporal equipment. Those
few days working along with the engineers gave him good insight into the
problems, but still it was only a small part of the whole.
Exiting the turbolift he nodded to greetings of the low ranking officer
that entered the lift after him. Next moment he was entering.... the
dead end. {Damn it! I have to memorize the layout finally} he ordered
himself when he realized that he once again took the wrong turn. Turning
on his heels he run to the area where Lt Versey should be. He stopped in
front of the door to catch breath and then he entered.
"Good day..." he said loudly to the empty space as he didn't see
lieutenant anywhere. He stepped inside the room looking around.
Hawk heard the door open and noted the light level change subtly.
"Hello" said to more point out were he was than too actually great the
newest occupant of the room. Terek found his way down and around a large
buzzing apparatus to find Hawk and two engineers digging and prying at
panels.
"Good, glad to see you mon frere." Hawk said motioning for Terek to join
them. Terek nudged himself into the small area and started to look over
area.
He looked for a moment and then plainly asked, "Ok what's going on?"
"Well we are currently running a level 1 diagnostic to find out what's
wrong, but as far as I can tell there is a conflict." Terek looked at
him a bit puzzled so he continued, "The sensors aren't working but there
is nothing wrong that we have found yet. If this diagnostic turns up
nothing then it's not with this pallet cluster."
Terek nodded in understanding thought for a while to 'crunch' all the
info he got and then said just to ensure: "So we should be probably
looking for some outer reason of the malfunction, right?" When Hawk
nodded in response Terek thought aloud "but how are we supposed to find
outer cause when we are not able to scan the area?" Then he looked on
the lieutenant scuffed at the circuitry and asked: "If we won't find any
hardware cause, do you think that we could be able to use some shuttle
sensors to find out what is going outside?"
"No clue as to that, there are several different things that could be
going on. There are other pallet clusters that could be causing the
problem ship wide. And if it is something external it would likely
affect shuttle sensors as well. We will have to wait and see how things
work out in the ship first then we can try the shuttles." At that moment
the computer responded with the diagnostic results. System nominal, no
faults or failures within this subsystem, was the response.
"Hmmmmmm, that's odd. That should have taken an hour to run and it was
finished within fifteen minutes. So either the diagnostic program isn't
functioning or there is absolutely nothing wrong with the pallets."
Hawk looked at Terek and added, "Anything I'm missing, that you can
think about Lt?"
"I don't know if I remember it well form the academy but shouldn't the
diagnostics when ended early show some error? This seems almost like
someone don't want us to know that anything is wrong. What about some
system wide malfunction, should our drop of warp cause something ship
wide?"
"Very possible about the warp issue, and your correct about the
diagnostic timing finish. As for the ship wide issue Chief Rodgers is
working on that at the moment. I will report into him and tell him our
progress."
Hawk contacted Rick and updated him on the results. Much to his dismay
the results were the same from Jason's team and the others also. Rick
had just finished up in sensor control and they were basically blind and
preparing to dock with this "hotel" station. They were to all gather in
engineering to get a game plan going within the hour was Ricks last
order.
Hawk turned to Terek and said, "Thanks for the help Lt, we are free to
go onto the station but if you want you can join us in engineering and
help."
"No problem lieutenant, but I'm not sure that scientist would be of any
use for you in the engineering. I'll report to Lt. Oriana and try to
find something to help you..." With that they all get up and left the
room. The two engineers left quickly heading to the engineering. Terek
walked with Hawk to the turbolift: "Mr. Versey if you could update me
with some info about the malfunctioned systems, I can try to gather some
info about them from the station he whispered.
Hawk thought for a moment and told Terek to keep an eye out for three
certain frequencies. Those frequencies would cause what they were
experiencing. There was no way to tell were there was a source of those
frequencies, if at all, and who would be causing them and finally why.
Hawk wished Terek luck and that he should enjoy himself.
