Standing alone in total silence and darkness Hawk awakens. "Hello........." Silence follows for a moment, no echoes, not another sound, now any light. "Anyone there........" No reply this time or a sign of anything or anyone else around him. He begins to move about looking for a wall, door, anything. After roughly five minutes still nothing, almost ready to boil over he screams. "HELLOOOOOO............Who ever, or whatever you are show yourselves!" Still no answer came. Deciding the best course of action would be to sit and wait for a sign Hawk sat down. Rest a little and keep his mind occupied was the best thing he could do right now. How long had he been here, were WAS here anyways? Thinking out loud Hawk speaks after another minutes, "Man things are easier when your just fixing things on the Chimera." Almost instantly Hawk hears a sound. The sound was from a short distance away, and sounded like a metal door squeaking and closing, or opening, he just couldn't tell. As he considered the source of the sounds he flashed to another place...... "What in the world is going on?" Hawk said as he spun around trying to figure out what was going on. "Lieutenant, please step this way and you can get started on the injectors." A VERY tall and pale gentleman said to him. They appeared to be onboard a large vessel or starbase. This must be the starbase he surmised, wasn't sure so he simply asked. "Um excuse me sir, where are we again?" "You are a guest of the living dream hotel, and you volunteered to assist use repair one of our deuterium injectors." The odd man said. Hawk nodded and thought how odd it was that he couldn't remember how or when he even volunteered for that. He felt as though he should be mad and be asking about some other situation, a definite urgent feeling of when something needed to be fixed. Oh well, he couldn't remember what that was so it must be the injectors here. The thought of working on something did relax Hawk. The steps involved in diagnosing and then fixing a system were always so clear. Coming up with a new or improvised technology was also something he hoped would be called for, one never knew when dealing with non federation technology what "hurdles" you would encounter. "Oh well, sauce for the goose." He said as a grin began to creep onto his face. The two rounded another corner and before Hawk opened an enormous engineering area. The warp core was a normal three or four deck height, the only difference was that the "ceiling" of the department was open and revealed the entire core. From a schematic standpoint the area was shaped like the pit in a peach with the absolute center of the pit being the core. Now an enormous grin crossed Hawks face, almost swallowing his ears in the process...... To be continued. ============================================ LT jg Hawk Versey Assistant Engineering Officer USS Chimera NCC 96899-A
