=Living Dream Hotel= Jo Weathersby waited for a good twenty minutes in the infirmary waiitng area before Rick finally arrived. "What took you so long?" Jo asked with her hands firmly planted on her hips. "I just had a long conversation with a ghost," Rick said. "This place is ... well, beyond amazing." "It's a little too amazing, if you ask me," Jo said, still looking upset. "Perhaps," Rick said. "Have you checked in on Jason, yet?" "Yeah, they say he'll be fine," she said. "Jo, I was wondering if we could have a little talk later. There seems ...," Rick said before being interrupted by one of the hotel reps. "Are you Petty Officer Weathersby?" the hotel rep asked. "Uh, yeah," Jo said, looking at the rep. "Well, this is for you," the rep said, handing Jo an object that looked like a data padd. She looked the padd over as the rep turned and left the infirmary. After a few moments, she went from looking upset to being totally confused. "What is it?" Rick asked. She looked at the padd for several more seconds as she seemed deep in thought. She then looked up at Rick. "It says the test results were mixed up," she said. "Test results ...?" "The medical tests that were sent back to Starfleet Medical," she said. "This says that those tests were mixed up and I got the wrong one back on the Chimera. Apparently, I'm not going to die after all." Rick would've thought she'd be excited about this news, but understood her doubts. "Jo, why don't we find the captain and Commander Summers and find out what the hell is going on around here," Rick said. "Then we can confirm what you're reading there is the real deal or not. Okay?" She just nodded. "Good," Rick said as he turned to leave the infirmary, almost running into Commander Summers. "Lieutenant! ...oh excuse me" Rangi side stepped Rick and spoke apologetically, adjusting her shoulder bag and glancing at Jo Weathersby, wondering for a second why the woman looked so unnerved. Turning towards the infirmary entrance, Rangi made to move forward but Jo's hesitant "Commander?" caused her to stop. "Yes?" she replied catching the look that passed between the two engineers. Jo gave Rick an almost beseeching look "We were actually going to find you anyhow," Rick said. "Is this a good time to talk." "Ofcourse" Rangi replied, glancing again at Jo. "Whats happened?.Miss Weathersby, forgive me,,but are you feeling alright? you look very pale...shall we sit down?" Jo nodded as they took a seat on a couch in the waiting area, while Rick remained standing. "I was informed a few days ago after receiving the results of a medical exam from Starfleet Medical that I had only a few months to live." Jo said, showing Rangi the padd. "Then, just a few moments ago, I received this." Rangi accepted the padd, activated it and read through the brief text knowing they were both waiting for her reply. "I see." she said quietly, laying the padd to her lap and feeling a sinking sensation in her stomach. {That's it then} she told herself { It really is all a lie} Her eyes met Jo's as she looked up. "I'm sorry" Rangi said as gently as she could " but I dont think this is true." Jo remained quiet for a few seconds, looking down at the floor before looking back up at Rangi. Rangi shifted on the edge of her seat looking again at the padd. "Firstly" she said, " Its highly unlikely that there would be a mistake of this nature." She looked up at them, one to the other. "The standard of safety protocols just wouldnt allow a mistake like this... Oh, I suppose it IS possible, but its very very unlikely." Certain now in her own mind that what she was about to say was true, she continued, "Secondly, I'm pretty much certain that it isnt true because a few hours ago the same sort of thing happened to me and two instances like this are ...well....." She gave a slight shrug, then began to explain. "My father has been ill for sometime. He has a terminal condition." She switched the padd off and handed it to Rick. "He's been undergoing experimental treatments but with no lasting improvements and really I think we're running out of time. But last night I was given a message, apparantly from his doctor..and indeed from Dad too..that told me a cure has been found, that its early days but he's already feeling better.I want to believe it." she said looking straight at Jo "..as you want to believe your message....but it just strikes me as too good to be true, Its too much of a coincidence and I think theres more to it." Shanes angry expression appeared in her minds eye. "Why?" was all Jo could say as the looked at Rangi then at Rick. "I don't know," Rick said, wondering what they had gotten themselves into."There's something about this place. Something very wrong." He knelt down in front of Rangi and Jo. "Just a few minutes ago, I had a conversation with my father and then with this girl that I was suppose to meet on Starbase Bragg," Rick continued, noticing that Jo looked away from Rick. "The problem is that the girl isn't here and my father has been dead for awhile now. They were both trying to tell me how great this place was and why I should stay. But that's not all." Rick then thought back over the past couple of days. "First, there was nothing wrong with the Chimera's engines and sensors," Rick said. Rangi listened trying to make sense of everything. "We had one of the Hotel's representives, a Mr. Naodo, to give us a tour of the station," Rick said. "We saw quite a bit, but nothing out of the ordinary. When we got to the power distribution center of the station, though, there was this one room that Naodo wouldn't allow us to enter. He said that it was a reactor room and that the radiation in that room was to high to enter, which I seriously doubt. That along with the Chimera disappearing ..." "Disappearing?" Rangis full attention snapped back to Rick "What do you mean...'disappearing'" "I thought that the captain would've told you," Rick said, a little puzzled, but not completly surprised. "On my way here I told him that the Chimera had departed a couple of days ago, but he said that it was nothing to worry about. When I tried to press the point, he seemed to get a little angry with me, so I dropped the subject." {Shane knows that?} Rangi was astounded then another thought struck her. "Okrin was going to search Chimera med files." she said " That was a while ago. Have you seen him?" "No," Rick said, looking down at Jo, who simply shook her head. "Lieutenant. I'm going to speak to Commander Guzman. Please see if you can contact Chimera or if you can find anything else about the power distribution centre...but dont get yourself into trouble. If the hotel staff try to dissuade you again then please leave it. I need to talk to him." She got to her feet, looking at Jo then back to Rick and giving him a meaningful glance. "If you have anything to report then please let us know at once" "Will do. Just be careful, Commander," Rick said. "Like I said, there's something very wrong about this place. Something that just doesn't feel right." Rangi nodded agreement."Yes." she replied. "..thats true. Please find out what you can but without raising any suspicions...and get back to me." With a final glance at Jo, she walked purposely away. == End Log == Acting Lieutenant Rick Rodgers CEO USS Chimera-A & Commander Rangi Summers XO USS Chimera -A & PO2 Jo Weathersby (npc)
