===Sickbay=== Keylor walked in to the sickbay. He had remembered on his way to the base that he had promised Dr Summers a checkup at 10:00 hours in the morning. It was 10:30 now, but he figured that by showing up only 30 minutes late, he would not be nagged too much. After all the last time he was supposed to go before this doctor for a checkup, it had been 3 weeks before he finally made the appointment. Keylor stopped only a few steps in to the sickbay and noticed right away that something was not right. He stood for a moment and tried to figure it out. He then started to get warm and loosened his collar. HE then saw Dr Summers walk out of her office. {{At least we'll have everything back to normal by 12.00}}Rangi thought{{What a mess!!}} and she looked down at her uniform and the few cerise patches adorning it. {{I ought to get changed...what's the time?}}she glanced at the chrono on her desk.{{Hhmmmm.... the Captains obviously running on 'maybe' time again...at least he didn't turn up and have to wait for ME!}} She frowned at the thought of missing Shane and wondered how things had gone but pushing the thought aside, decided there was time for a quick shower and fresh uniform before continuing her appointments. Scott had taken her '10.30'..that gave her half an hour. She headed out of her office, turned to her right and came face to face with the CO. "Captain!!! Good morning!!" she said brightly trying not to sound surprised to see him. Keylor nodded, "Morning Doctor, sorry I am late. I seem to get wrapped up in my work and forget appointments." He grinned weekly. Keylor looked around and notices a few nurses walking by in dirty uniforms. HE started to perspire a bit and look to Rangi. "Any trouble lately?" He motioned to the dirty uniforms walking past. "That's ok.." she replied following his look and noticing the disheveled appearance of the two nurses.{{He would turn up NOW!}} she thought acutely aware of how slapdash the Sickbay must appear. "...errr..yes.there was some trouble but its all in hand ." she told him. "Engineering assure me it wont happen again." She flicked her hair away from the back of her neck and noticed how uncomfortable the Captain seemed.{{Is he that worried about a medical check?}} she thought. Keylor nodded, "Ah very will. I guess we are still need to chase some of the gremlins away before we leave the dock." HE replied light heartedly. He looked over to the three bio beds off to one side of the room. "Well doctor should we continue with this appointment, or shall I come back some other time?" Keylor really did not mind coming back, he was anxious to get to the base and see about having some amenities replicated for his crew. "No No!!" she replied hastily taking hold of his arm "We'll do it now ...while you're here.." Rangi noticed his faintly surprised expression as he looked down at her hand holding onto his sleeve. She quickly put both hands behind her back and followed him. As he walked towards the nearest biobed, she lifted her hair, and letting it fall back, eased the collar of her uniform, feeling suddenly very warm indeed. "Please take a seat." she smiled to him "Now...is there anything I need to know? any problems since your last check up?" Keylor walked over to the biobed and jumped up on to it. He sat at the edge, feet dangling over the side. He started to perspire a bit more and tugged at his collar. HE listened to Rangi's question, he pressed his lips together and thought about his answer, "No nothing that I can think of." He responded in a frank tone. Keylor started to look about the sickbay. {Man this is small. I hope we don't have an emergency needing more space. } he thought. {Well we could always use a cargo bay or holodeck if needed.} He waited for the next question. Rangi took a new padd, tapped in a few lines and began to read Keylors medical history. She glanced at him with a smile and continued to study his notes for a short time. "Fine!" she said laying the padd aside and running one hand around the front neck of her tunic. She picked up a tricorder and it hummed softly into life."So...this is a routine check...like many you've had before."she explained beginning the first short scan, but stopping sooner than he anticipated. Rangi lowered the tricorder to her side and frowned at him. "Do you feel hot?" she asked Keylor looked at Rangi strangely. "I thought it was me. but yes I do feel a bit warm. Are you having troubles with the environmental controls?" Keylor looked up at the ceiling. "Computer current room temperature?" [The room temperature is 26 degrees Celsius] it chirped back. Rangi then looked up at the ceiling, "Computer set ambient temperature to 20 degrees Celsius." The computer squawked [Unable to comply]. Keylor looked at Dr Summers, "Well doctor looks like things will be heating up in here." he said with a cheeky smile. Rangi grinned back at him. "It certainly does!" she answered "That what caused the problems earlier. The chill cabinets over heated and gel expands with heat so all 120 packs burst. Apart from the colossal mess that made, it contaminated all th....." She stopped and stared at him frozen in mid word, her eyes growing wider .She raised her hands as though glueing him into his place. "Be..right..back..." she said, turned and sprinted from the room. Keylor looked puzzled. He was no doctor or scientist, but it was obvious to him that some thing was concerning Rangi. HE looked as she disappeared in to the little store room behind her office. While he waited he unzipped his jacket a bit. It was warm and felt like it might be getting hotter. Either way he did not want to sweat out and then hit the base like a smelly mess. Less than two minutes later she was back, looking hot bothered and desperate. "Please come." It was more of an order than a request and he looked a bit puzzled but the events he had experienced and heard about made him think yet another problem had arisen on the ship. He followed Rangi carefully. Rangi was kneeling on the floor in front of an open cabinet surrounded by a growing pile of packs, each about the size of a brick. "Put them in the there!" she cried 'pointing' him with a nod towards a sink slowly filling with water."We've got to keep them cool." She pushed some packs towards him and reached inside the cabinet for more as he took hold of four. "This is what happened before.." she explained grabbing packs in a controlled frenzy "...the temperature went off the scale.." she held up more for him to drop into the cool water.."...and this overheated them instead of chilling....and its..." she handed him another set about to say 'doing the same again' but instead uttered "Oh!" Keylor had been dumping the packs into the water with haste and reaching to take more as she held them up to him. Half way through his turn to the sink, he froze, his hands suddenly covered in a thick sticky bright pink gel, as, with a quiet 'thlapp' a pack burst. Rangi stared up at him, eyes wide and lips parted as she watched the liquid, already splattered across his tunic, begin to drip in long 'fingers' down onto his boots. She tried to suppress a grin...with difficulty. Keylor frowned as the goo dripped from his hands and his tunic. {Ok this is not good. Before long we will have exhausted all of the bases medical supplies} he thought. He dropped the remnants of the package on the counter next to the sink. He then washed his hands off in the water and turned to Rangi. When he first saw her expression he was puzzled why she would have a grin on her face. Then it dawned on him, when else would you see the captain of a ship with pink goo all over him self. In many eyes it would appear undignified. HE then grew a smile on his face in return. He then spoke with a half chuckle, "Well it appears your environmental controls are not working properly. We need to save as many of the supplies as we can. Find a crew quarters on this deck that appears to have the environmental controls working. Have your staff, and any one else you can grab, move your remaining supplies in there and cool them down." He stepped away from the sink and back towards Rangi. " Once you have saved everything you can, you can use holodeck 1 as a temporary sickbay until the environmental controls are working properly. I will get engineering to get the environmental controls fixed as soon as possible." He watched Rangi for a response. "Of course.." she answered reaching for another set of packs. "I'm so sorry..." she looked pointedly at his uniform. Standing up and placing her small load into the brimming water she said.. "Its only these really that are likely to burst." A small frown appeared as she added. "Engineering PROMISED me that the problem was solved." She checked inside the cabinet and straightened up. "Thank you for your help.....we got it out before too much damage was done." Keylor nodded. "Any time. I don't want my sickbay to become so messy that you cant treat wounded." He then looked down at his tunic, "Oh and don't worry about the tunic, I was beginning to think I needed a shower any ways." He looked back up and smiled. Glad that he could take his misfortune so well, her lips formed a wide smile. "Captain...bearing in mind past history...it would seem we are NEVER to get your medical check done..." She grinned at him.. "Can we re-schedule the appointment?" Keylor nodded and chuckled, "Yes. I will stop by as soon as the environmental controls are fixed." He smiled at Rangi. "No if you excuse me, I need to clean up and take care of some business on the base." Rangi replied, "That will be fine sir." She said with a grin on her face. Keylor nodded again and walked out of the sickbay. ===End Log=== LtCol Bretam Keylor Commanding Officer USS Chimera & Ltjg Rangi Summers CMO USS Chimera
