Mai bent over from her single bed, different from the one on Chimera, and petted Kaine lying on the floor. She was glad her dog had arrived safely aboard the Kinsi. She got up out of bed watching the where she stepped to make sure she didn't step on the exhausted looking dog. She got dressed for work in the proper attire from her recent promotion. She was working on being off to the infirmary aboard to start work on padds and any other needs. A recorded message had appeared from her Subspace Frequency Channel. Surprisingly, it was her step brother's friend, who's older then her, she sadly never gets to hear from him even when she was back home on Earth. It was recorded from the previous day; his voice came on and said," I hate to tell this to you Mai, but Kevin has died. Your step brother was killed my interaction with a hover car by a driver who was induced with alcohol. I know it's hard since you ever got to see him, but that is why sooner or later I would like to plan to meet you sometime and see if wee can solve some things out. Well, I got to go I'll leave you another message another time." His voice cut off and all Mai could do was sit there and stare at the deleted message. She wanted to cry, but no tears would come to her lucent clear auburn brown eyes. She sat there and thought a minute of how she would be able to see Jeff and talk things over. { Maybe once I get back to Chimera..oh but I wish it was sooner...I just arrived here}.
