===Research station===
Keylor and his companion diligently searched the station. They were looking
for the shuttle bay. Keylor hoped the shuttle had been completely powered
down and the aliens had not taken notice of it. The station had appeared to
be crawling with aliens, or at least Keylor thought. And the appearance of
the new aliens, the bigger, bulkier ones who seemed perfectly phased in to
their space, Keylor worried that the aliens were up to something, but he had
no idea as to what. The prudent course of action was to take what
information they had collected and the survivors they had found and return
to the ship.
Keylor and the corporal had been searching for an hour now. They had run in
to the remainder of Hathaway's team and directed them back to the infirmary.
Aside from the team, all Keylor and his corporal encountered were aliens.
But that did not seem to slow Keylor down. With less people to manage, he
was able to move faster and quieter, at times he had to stop and wait for
his companion to catch up.
They were now on deck 9, or so the writing on the wall had told Keylor. He
remembered from the diagrams he studied before leaving the ship, that deck
9 housed the shuttle bay, astrometrics and cargo bays. He hoped there would
be little on this deck for the alien's to be interest in and that they would
be able to find the shuttle bay with out many detours.
It did not take them long to fid the shuttle bay. The deck they were on
seemed almost devoid of aliens. Keylor was not sure why they had not seen
any aliens on this deck, but thanked the prophets for the small blessing.
Keylor quickly reached the runabout the Starfleet officer back in the
infirmary had mentioned. He motioned to the corporal to keep watch while he
himself entered the shuttle to see if it was in operating order.
The first thing Keylor noticed was the sparse interior of the rear of the
runabout. Gone were the usual benches and seats he was accustomed to. In its
place were several cargo racks, neatly configured to house 8 quantum
torpedoes. And aside form the fact that no torpedoes were present, the
remainder of the area seemed to be untouched.
He then moved ford to the cockpit. There again he found everything in order.
Nothing seemed damaged or tampered with, but with all the systems powered
down, they would not know until they powered up the shuttle. Keylor was
tempted to start powering up the systems and have a check, but figured it
would only attract the aliens. And with a couple decks to get everyone down
form the infirmary to the shuttle bay, he thought it best not to tempt fate
and make a call to the aliens by generating a power signature.
Keylor stepped back out of the shuttle a few minutes after he entered. He
looked at the corporal standing guard. "Well it looks like it will do.
Nothing seems to be altered or damaged, it should do." He commented. The
corporal pointed to the shuttle bay doors. "What about those sir? With all
the power fluctuations, do you thin we will be able to get them open?"
Keylor shrugged. "I hope so. We have had little trouble getting internal
compartment doors open, lets hope there is enough energy to open the doors
and let us escape." The corporal nodded. Keylor then pointed back to the
main entrance of the shuttle bay. "Lets find out way back to the infirmary.
Since the aliens don't seem to be interest in this deck, we should probably
get everyone down here as quickly as we can. " The corporal nodded and
started walking to the doors. Keylor followed slowly and then looked back to
the shuttle. {Lets hope this works. If we get everyone inhere and the aliens
come, we ill be trapped and helpless to stop them.} Keylor then picked up
his pace to catch up with the corporal.
