-= USS Chimera - Engineering =- Gaalen turned to tyhe CEO as he told him he was in charge of the department, for the second time this day. He could not help but notice that the CEO was quite mad at the current simulations and he was walking out with a phaser at his belt. He raised an eye brow. "He sure sound and looks mad. But aren't the security officers and marines handling the weapons in the simulation?" He asked the crewmen positioned around the master systems display table. Andrew shrugged. "I don't know and I don't really care. He's probably up to stun someone as part of the simulation." "Yeah, I guess." Gaalen replied, as the crewmen brought back out their hand of cards. Since there was nothing to do in engineering, besides pressing a few buttons to simulate the repair of the simulated damage and this wargame was actually to test the skills of the bridge crew and sec forces, Gaalen had chosen to keep his morale up and get to know Jack, Tom and Andrew. The andorian looked at his cards. "Give me two." He said, dropping two cards from his hand. He received what he asked for. They all exchanged unwanted cards and their raised the simulated pot. "We really should get seats around this table you know." Tom said. "We should not be playing cards on this systems monitor in ther first place, crewman." Gaalen told him. A flashing dot could be seeing through the pot of chips. Gaalen moved it aside and pressed a button, to simulate the repair of the afected system. "This is seriously cramping my style." Jack muttered. "Who cares, we're not playing for money anyway, I would rather be on the SB, if you ask me." They all agreed. "I missed a bloody appointment with a beutifull woman." Gaalen said, half to his cards and the rest of the table. "Tell me Sir." "Gaalen." Interrupted the andorian. "Call me Gaalen, please." "Teel me Gaalen, since you're the newest Assistant engineer on board, where you from exactly?" Tom asked him. "We don't have enough Andorians on the ship, so you're kind of a mystery to most of us." "To put is simply, I served four years in the Andorian defence forces, was married, now widowed. I was banned from my clan by my father in rightfull Ushaan... Duel, if you prefer, so I joined Starfleet, and here I am four years after signing up." He said, mildly annoyed at the question. All three men looked at him, silently. They seemed to be bothered by the straight forwards answer that left no wiling room to conversation. Sensing the tension, Gaalen opted for the diplomatic approach. "I will fight you all in duel next time you raise the subject." He thought then answered: "We should speak of this at a later time, maybe around a beer or something. It's a matter I would rather not discuss right now, until wounds are healed." A marine can ina nd took a firing position, even after the CEO had warded everyone off engineering. "Oh, get out of here!" Tom exclamed at the marine. The soldier turned to all of them. "What are you doing, shouldn't you be repair stuff?" "You mean the stuff you simulate the breakage of?" Gaalen answered. "Euh... yeah, sir." He said annoyed at their lack of professionalism during the simulation. "This simulation is for you guys to train not us, simulated damage is not real damage, so it does not involve us, and the CEO has ordered everyone to keep away from engineering, so carry on and get the hell out of here." The marine pointed at a panel. "I could really break something, if you want work." Gaalen grabbed a hypperspanner and held it ready to be thrown. "Try your luck, who's faster, your trigger finger or my hyperspanner?" The andorian had the marine in his crosshair and kept a lock on the man's eyes, reading his next move. The others almost in unison moved their heads left to right, very discreetly, to discourage the marine. The marine weighed his options. "Suit yourselves." He said as he turned around and left engineering. "Would you really have thrown that thing at him?" Tom asked him as Gaalen placed the hyperspanner on the table. "Yes, I would have with deadly accuracy too." He said with a smirk, knowing he would not have done it. "Yes right." Andrews challeged him. "I bet it does not even make it to the bulkhead." "How about a demonstration, Oh mighty blue man." Jack dared him. Gaalen smiled as he picked up the hyperspanner, shaking his head trying to motivate his next move. He threw the tool, which flew half the required distance, shamming the Andorian to a distance of three meters throw. "Denied!" Jack shouted. "Goal no good!" Andrew shouted. They all laughed except the Andorian. "You think you're so good eh Jack?" Gaalen asked him as he flipped his cards over. "Beat this!" They all stared at his hand, Gaalen had won the third hand in a row. "You must cheat somehow." Jack said, not believing the Andorian's luck "It's all a matter of observation and desinformation." Gaalen replied as he well damned knew the hyperspanner could have hit the marine square in the chest if he had really wanted to. "Another hand?" The andorian asked. They all refused, pretexting work to be done. They all agreed to meet at a later date for more regular games, maybe add more people to the lot and see how it could turn up. For his part, Gaalen could not wait for these games to be over, so he could possible make the mystery meting he had been requested to attend...
