=/\= Bridge =/\= Acheson stood at the bridge. The ship orbited the Starbase and the bridge was commanded by Commander Birt for the duration of it. Overhearing a conversation on the side, he found out that the Colonel had returned. +TAPS+ Acheson to Colonel Keylor, do you have some free time to go over the training exercises I participated in? I'd value your opinion, sir. Keylor was still in his quarters going over the recordings and sensor logs of the exercise when the comms chirped. It was 1lt Nathan Acheson wanted to speak to him about the exercises. Keylor set a pad down he was looking at and pressed the comm button on his desk console. "Yes Lieutenant I have a few minutes. Please report to me in my quarters." he responded. Having been engrossed in the mountains of padds, Keylor stood up and headed over to the replicator for some food. Awaiting Nathan's arival. Acheson entered the room, and took a quick look around before finding the seat opposite the Colonel at his desk. He noticed the pile of PADDs and became nervous, wondering if this meeting would be trying the patience of a busy Colonel. Keylor watched the young officer walk in to the room. Keylor now seated at his desk munching on a sandwich, motioned Nathan to come over to the desk. He motioned to a chair while he finished chewing the food in his mouth. After swallowing the food and taking a sip of coffee, he motioned to Nathan and leaned back in to his chair. "So, how do you think you faired during the exercise?" he asked looking for Nathan's opinion before offering up his own. Acheson shook his head. "Sir, I don't think it went very well. I think I have a lot to learn about Starship combat. But I did gain a lot by doing this exercise. I was able to improve my weapons accuracy ... I have 99.9% on computer simulation with the phasers now. I fell for a few tricks and I think I've learned to be more analytical and less emotional. What do you think of the exercises, sir?" He looked up, eager for the response and at the same time bracing himself for what might be a verbal thrashing. Keylor set down his coffee and picked up a pad. He scanned over it and placed it back on the desk. "Well, no one expected you to perform like a seasons veteran of several stellar combat battles. One of the reasons you have these kinds of things is to learn." He said in a calm voice. " What do I think?" he said as almost like he had answered his own question. "I think there is room for improvement, in many areas. But from a technical level, the exercises were what I expected them to be." He the gestured to Nathan, "Out of all of the things that happened during the exercise, what is the one thing you did wrong?" he asked to see what Nathan would say. Nathan paused for a moment and tapped his chin contemplatively. "Well, Colonel, I guess the one mistake was lowering the shields when I thought I'd destroyed the target. They'd used a sensor buoy to transmit false readings. The shield harmonics problem really wasn't my fault. I thought that our ship had set them to be randomized but I guess someone took a shortcut. I corrected the problem. What do you see as being the one thing done wrong" Keylro smirked and nodded, "Interesting." He pointed to Nathan. "You know everyone has a different concept of how to do things, and though lowering your shields might not be the conventional course of action, I don't really see it as being the one thing you did wrong." He motioned to walls. "Who was the ship entrusted to ?" He waited for Nathan to answer. "I was, sir." He replied, unsure of where the Colonel was going with this. "That is right, you. I placed you in charge. But at one point you left the bridge and beamed over to the other ship." He shook his head, "you cant always just pick up and leave the ship at will. In this situation, you still had a active target, one that could still be a threat. And with away team on the other shiip, the leade needs to be in a position where they can give the right orders at the right time. You should have stayed on the chimera". He said with a light easy attitude. Acheson nodded: "Aye, I probably should have." He smiled, remembering the enjoyable time he had with Tom Klinde after beaming over. Keylor smiled. "Well Take this for what it is, a training exercise. Actually pitting you and your skills against the seasoned captain of the Simpson was a mismatch., you really never had a chance. But as long as you learn from this experience, it was a successful training exercise." He said trying too make sure his officer felt like he was not being yelled at. "Aye, Colonel." Acheson nodded. "The ship is exactly as you left her, by the way. I reset the phasers and other ship systems to non simulation." He stood up. "I'd like to get some R&R on the starbase, before we leave, if it's okay with you." Keylor nodded, "By all means lieutenant." he said. Keylor picked up another padd and then waved it around as he talked. "We still have time here before our next assignment. I would like all crew to have ample time to relax and enjoy the station, no matte how meager some might think it is." He simled. Acheson nodded and stood up, respectively. "Aye, sir. Thank you for your input on my exercize." "Any time, Lieutenant." Keylor replied. Acheson turned sharply and walked out the door, heading for his quarters. =/\= END LOG =/\= Col Bretam Keylor CO USS Chimera & 1Lt Nathan Acheson CTAC USS Chimera -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm
