Keylor sat impatiently in the captains chair. He was bored and his mannerisms showed it. He had spent the last 8 hours sitting on the bridge pulling his watch at the conn as the chimera circled endlessly around starbase knisi. Needless to say nothing had been happening, ad after finishing all of his paperwork hours ago, he now counted the minutes for the next watch to show up.
Keylor was fiddling with the controls on the arm of the captains chair when he heard the turbo lift door open behind him. He craned his neck to look back to see who had arrived and if he could now go find something else to occupy his time. He saw a few crewmen walk off the lift in single file. One by one they headed to their respective places, relieving the already scant crew that kept the ship from runnign in to the star base or exploding.
As the last person walked out of the lift, Keylor recognized a face, it was the man that had bumped in to him back on the station, causing him to drop the pitcher he had made to match Athena’s platter.{ Ah, dressed in yellow, he has to be Foster. I knew it!} he thought as he watched the man walk over to the operations station. Keylor turned back around to face the viewscreen. {I wonder if he ever realized it was me? I bet that once he does, he will probably think that this old bird colonel will be chomping at the bit to make his life hell.} He thought as a grin passed over his lips. Keylor, now occupied with his thoughts, sat quietly as he waited for Commander Birt to relieve him for the watch.
A few more minutes passed by before a figure appeared to his right. It was Commander Birt come to take his watch. Keylor had been so preoccupied in his thoughts of what Andersen Foster must have been thinking he had not heard the turbo lift doors hiss. Jerking his head to look at Pete Birt, he smiled and stood up. "Ah Commander good." He rambled almost incoherently. Keylor moved to one side of the chair and gestured to the chair. "It is all yours Commander." Pete nodded, "Thank you sir." As he moved to the chair of authority. "Any thing interesting happen sir?" he asked as he stopped in front of the chair. "Keylor shook his head. "Not really, all is as it should be, Except a loose animal early this morning. I had security check in to it, I suspect one of the crews pets got loose."
Pete nodded, "aye sir, a likely explanation." He replied as he sat down. Keylor looked around the bridge quickly and then started to move to the turbo lift. He had decided to try to get a game of spring ball in if the ships holodeck was not already occupied. He glanced over at Andersen Foster and gave a Cheshire cat like grin, just to see if he could stir Andersen’s pot and make him stew. Keylor did not bother to see Andersen’s reaction but turned just as Andersen looked at Keylor and waited for the lift doors to open.
Just a s the lift doors opened, Keylor heard the distinctive sound of a proximity sensor go off. He turned around and looked back to the tactical station where a young fresh ensign was now standing watch. "Sir I have a shuttle headed straight for us as ¼ impulse. They are not responding to hails." She said. Commander Birt stood up from his chair and looked back at Keylor as if to ask if Keylor wanted to handle the situation.
Keylor remained standing next to the turbo lift; quietly, and waited for Pete to take control of the situation.
Keylor remained standing on the bridge as he watched Pete. He was more interested in how Pete performed than being worried about some slow moving shuttle and the possible danger to the ship. From the operations console Andersen spoke next. "Sir I am reading two lifeforms on the shuttle, neither of them appear t be at the helm. I might be able to override the shuttle controls from here. We can then shut the propulsion down and figure out what is going on.
Pete looked back to Andersen and nodded. "Ok Lieutenant make it so." Pete looked back to the viewscreen and just as he did the tactical officer gasped. Keylor stepped forward, "what is it ensign?" he asked the young ensign female. "Well sire I am showing massive decompression n the shuttle. It appears that the rear hatch just blew." She looked up at Keylor. Andersen then chimed in, "Sir I have control of the shuttle. Dis-engaging impulse drive and bringing it about to grab it with the tractor beams. "
Keylor looked over to Andersen, "And the life forms?" Andersen looked up and shook his head no. "None sir." Keylor then looked back at Pete. "Sir should I inform the base and have them perform the recovery operation?" Pete asked. Keylor shook his head no, "With all of the activity on the base, I think we can do them a favor and take care of this. Recover everything you can and determine what happened. Report your findings to me as soon as you have them."
Pete nodded Aye sir." And turned to face Andersen. Seeing that the situation was in hand, Keylor headed back to the lift. The doors opened immediately and he stepped in side. "Deck three" he requested of the lift. The doors closed and he started on his short trip. As he waited to reach his destination he wondered. {Why was that shuttle heading at us? And why was there not pilot? Could there have been a problem with the rear hatch and they were trying to correct it before decompression?} knowing he would have to wait till his crew did their jobs, he filed the questions away and waited for the lift to stop.
<<OOC:: ok a little something to keep the ship crew busy. As for the shuttle and the 2 life forms, think of what is beginning to happen on the base. These two can be effected by the pollen. Also remember the pollen is air born only ( hint the rapid decompression. Think about it.)>>
