*** Near the Infirmary * Starbase Kinsi *** Rangi frowned at the retreating figure of the CEO. There was something strange about him and she was in half a mind to follow him and indeed took a few steps but stopped and looked back along the corridor. Lt Lawrence, the starbase CMO had called her, asking for her attendance. Rangi turned and walked swiftly towards the infirmary. Georgia Lawrence was pacing the floor just inside the entrance. She wore a worried expression and was wringing her hands as she looked around the reception area. "Oh! Commander!" she cried and hurried forward . "I'm so glad you could come. I really need to ask your advice...I wasnt sure how to treat it..." She took hold of Rangis arm and pulled her along as she spoke. "What's wrong?" Rangi asked, surprised at the aggitated manner of the CMO."Is it the two crewmen with Tar Burg fever?" "What?" Georgia looked confused. "Oh....no...no no...it's not them." "How are they?" Rangi asked, interested to hear an update. "Oh they're alright!" Georgia replied with a dismissive gesture. " They're nothing to worry about now....It's..... them!" She had led the way to a side bay where one of the two biobeds was occupied. A second figure, dressed in yellow uniform and nursing a spectacular black eye, was seated on a chair to one side. He looked up as the two women entered and 'froze' when he met Georgias eye, fear clearly written on his face. Rangi moved to the nearest biobed, looking up at the overbed display as she did so. {Whats...going on!?} she asked herself staring at the display but not making sense of it. She glanced at Georgia who now held a hypospray in one hand and stood tapping her fingers on it as she looked thoughtfully at the security officer on the chair. "Whats going on?" she asked, turning to the CMO, not liking the doubts that sprang to her mind. Georgia pulled her gaze away from the man. " He came in earlier...with him" she said, indicating the security guard with a twist of her head. Rangi glanced at him and he gave an uncertain grimace that might have passed for a smile. "They were very worked up." Georgia said, frowning at the floor."..Making all sorts of fuss and noise." She raised her head and looked directly Rangi. "I cant be doing with that!" she said flatly."I like peace and quiet, not people rushing around saying theres an Yridian yak chasing them!" She shook her head."He wouldnt listen to me...wouldnt calm down at all..so I.....MADE him be quiet." Rangi asked " But was he in need of attention? Georgia shrugged "He was shouting." she replied. "So...You sedated him?" Rangi asked, knowing the answer "Yep!" "With kayolane AND anesthezine?" Georgias self satisfied attitude changed.A worried look appeared and she moved towards the biobed. "I wasnt sure what to do...they wouldnt be quiet and it made my head spin!. When you didnt come...I thought it best to calm them down...just for a while...so I could think what to do." Rangis eyes slid to the security guard. He nodded slowly."I was called to find out the cause of a disturbance on the promenade....found him there...he'd been in a fight. I thought he needed a doctor so we came down here.Then he said this ...'yak' was coming for him.He tried to make a run for it..I stopped him...thats when I got this" he added, gently touching his swollen eye. "I really dont like noise." Georgia said sadly."..and he was shouting." "He went out like a light" the guard said, giving the CMO a wary glance."..and she told me to sit here or she'd do the same to me" "Georgia..." Rangi began but was interrupted. "There have been so many of them" Georgia explained." Fevers...broken bones...headaches, toothaches... cuts and abrasions......" Georgia counted the problems with her fingers. "Muscle spasms ... allergies.. migraines... indigestion...." The security officer sat open mouthed as the list grew longer. "Insomnia.. abdominal pain..fainting...heart attacks ....coughs, colds.... cold feet!... it just goes on and on..." Georgia looked pleadingly at Rangi. "I dont need a man with a Yak !!! " There was silence. "Right..." Rangi said slowly, gently turning Georgia away from the biobed. "I think you should sit down for a while...lets go to your office." she suggested. Georgia nodded and together the two women left the bay. "I just didnt know what to do" Georgia said in a small voice as they entered the office. "Dont worry....just sit there and I'll get you a drink.Tea?...coffee?" Rangi asked crossing to the replicator. "Tea please...three sugars.." Rangi ordered the brew and waited for the cup to appear. {She needs to talk to someone...she's really wound up...a counselor...} The thought stilled in Rangis mind. Normally she would not have hesitated to call on Lt Wellington but for some reason Rangi felt reluctant to do so. Carrying the cup carefully to the desk where Georgia sat, Rangi set it down. The CMO lifted it with a trembling hand. Rangi gave her an encouraging smile.. "I just have to call someone...I'll be back in a minute ok?" Georgia nodded and Rangi stepped outside the office. Reaching into her shoulder bag, her fingers sought and found her combadge.
