Athena tried to move to stop the instant aching in her arm but winced with
the pain. She remained still and quiet as she let the tears run down her face
as she waited for help to arrive.

Lewis ran briskly into the arboretum, a report had come in of a woman looking
a bit worse for wear under a tree. Though the person hadn't stuck around
which raised some suspicion's in his mind. He saw Athena lying in the fetal
position under a large tree.
Athena shifted her weight a bit as her arm was very uncomfortable. She
stopped moving and remained shockingly still at the sharp pain shot through her arm
and a soft winced escaped from her lips. She felt as though she had been
laying there for ever and that no one was going to arrive. More tears spilled
over her lids and down her pale cheeks.
"Excuse me," he said softly, "do you need help?" he approached her quietly,
he didn't want to startle her which could cause more damage instead he walked
slowly forwards cradling his medkit.
"Yes," Athena said simply and stopped crying. She wished the man that went
with the nice voice she heard would hurry. As the tears started to dry on her
cheeks she added, "My arm hurts."
Lewis attributed the simplicity of Athena's speech to shock caused by the
accident and thought nothing of it. Either that or she was mentally impaired in
somewhere. He drew up next to her and took out his tricorder, "How did you do
this?"
Athena's gaze went from the kind face in front of her toward the branches
hanging over head. "I fell from up there," she said as she pointed with her good
arm. She lowered her arm and looked back at the man helping her, "What's
your name?"
"Lewis, Lewis Acorah." he said, figuring it was best to leave his rank out of
the question, she was clearly distressed. He replaced his tricorder and took
out a hypospray and a pain killer. "I am going to give you this, it will help
with the pain. You have a broken arm and lacerations to the skin. Not to
mention a few bumps and bruises." He moved to inject Athena with the hypospray.
"I'm Athena," She replied politely. She nodded ever so slightly as he
explained what he was going to do, but she flinched as he moved to inject her.
"Don't worry," he said soothingly, "it doesn't hurt, look," he picked up
another hypospray and loaded it with a placebo and then pressed it against his own
neck. "Your turn?"
"It isn't a trick. It will help with the pain," he slowly took his tricorder
out of his case again and began scanning her. "Her mental condition was
worrying him and it may be a further result of the fall. At least the painkillers
were beginning to take affect according to the scans. "Are you going to come
with me and we can get you patched up?"
"OK," Athena replied before she took a deep breath. "Where are we going,"
she asked as she became more comfortable. "You must have played some trick,"
she continued simply. "you don't seem as fuzzy as I am," she chattered on like
a nervous child.
"You've had a nasty fall, but as soon as we have fixed you up you will be as
good as new," he smiled and then lowered himself to her level, "are you going
to stay here for a moment while I just go and sort something out, I will only
be a few minutes."
"Okey dokey," she said brightly. She gave him a small smile as she watched
him take a couple steps away. "Wait," she said in a rush and waited until he
looked at her again, "you really are coming back, right?"
"Of course, you've hurt yourself and I have to make you better and I wouldn't
leave my new friend, would I?" he took his uniform jacket off leaving just
his blue undershirt. "Look after this for me," he said brightly, "I will have to
come back for it or I will get into trouble".
"I suppose you wouldn't," she said sleepily. She nodded at his words about
his jacket. She watched as he took a couple of steps away and then moved the
jacket under her head. She wanted to keep it safe but she was tired now and
she couldn't seem to keep her eyes open. Her eyes slowly shut and then
fluttered open. This was repeated several times with the time between her eyes
closing and fluttering open becoming longer and longer.
Lewis could see Athena becoming drowsy and he didn't want that to happen, it
could be dangerous as clearly she had some kind of injury or disorder that the
tricorder wasn't reading. Quickly he arranged a site to site transport and
walked briskly over to wear she lay. "Are you guarding my jacket?" he said
loudly.
Her eyes flew wide open as she responded, "yes, but you don't have to yell at
me!" She took the jacket from beneath her head and threw it at him.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he said softly, "it is just that we can't have you falling
asleep it could cause more damage," he picked the jacket up and placed it in
the crook of his arm and then sat next to her, "now, do you want to come for a
ride?"
"No," she said feeling more then a bit defiant and not liking that he
wouldn't let her go to sleep. She tried to stand up but nothing seemed to want to
work like she thought it should. She looked at Lewis with large eyes and a
serious expression, "Did you drug me?"
"Now why would I drug you?" he spoke softly as she was clearly getting
agitated, "You are clearly being affected by something else hence you wanting to
climb a tree in the first place. Now, are you going to come with me?"
"But ... but I like to climb trees," she whispered. "I guess your not going
to go away, so I might as well go with you."
"I will go away, but only after I know you are okay. That's what friends are
for aren't they?" he smiled at her and tapped his combadge. "Energize."
