===== Bridge, USS Chimera ===== It was already two days since Rangi released him finally from the sickbay. After both away teams returned from the research station and the truce was pledged with the aliens, Shane agrred to let Rangi to examine him there. Of course, she found very good reasons for Shane to remain in her care for at least a week. Since Shane fet really bad and had absolutely no mood to mess with the CMO about the lenght of his stay in the sickbay ... Shane spend there a good majority of the way to Starbase Kinsi, where the ship was ordered to pick new crew. Shane thought about the party held last night and had to smile. It was a nice party ... and after a somewhat stiff start ... the party went the right way and when he had to leave the party the fun was on full speed there. Unfortunatelly ... someone had to do the watch on the bridge ... and the unfortunate victim was Shane ... Shane shook his head slightly as he thought about the oie ceremony. Keylor told him once that the habit reached back to his young days in the marine core and he continued to use this strange habit under his own command on the Chimera as well. Shane was not particulary happy about beeing hit by a pie ... and Ensign Carpenter seemed to enjoy the throw ... but he understood the meaning of habits and traditions. Shane checked it twice that the poor soul Mike is all right by now. He never knew about his lactose alergy ... and was glad the pie was synthetic one from most of the part. Shane grinned slightly as he recalled the surprised face of the Colonel when General Zanchin stepped out from teh shadows and awarded him with the marine award: Legion of honor. As far he knew ... it was teh highest marine award aviable in the fleet and he was very glad for the Colonel to be honoured that highly. Shane imagined the happy face of his beloved Rangi and teh sweet kiss he's received after his own promotion and grinned slightly. Rangi admitted that she knew about the promotion and kept it secret. Shane smiled as he thougt about the effort the CO and the 2XO must have had to keep it secret from the XO. There was a nice bunch of peoples promoted and awarded. Lets take Mike ... or Lieutenant Mike Blackburn, Acting Chief Engineering officer ... after the old CEO Nick had to leave, he became his sucessor and was promoted to full lieutenant. {A just decission} SHane thought. Shane was glad one the person he picked for his team was promoted as well. MaiKai ... or better, Ensign MaiKai Quiocho. Shane personally had the honor to present her the promotion while Keylor awarded her with the Citation for galantry award. Seemingly her eagerness and selfless actions on the away team were not gone unnoticed. Among the promoted crew there was the ODA weapon specialist Corporal Jason Kilpatrick as well. Shane doesnt knew Jason very good, but his actions and dedication spoke for themselves. Shane noted that the corporal would be sure a great teacher in weapon usage. Of course Nathan ... or now 1LT. Nathan Acheson. The ex-ODA Commander was promoted to 1LT and offered the senior post of the Chief tactical officer. It was a bit strange that Keylor offered the post to a combat marine instead of an traditional naval officer, but knowing Acheson, Shane was sure he will be very good @ the job very soon. Among the awarded was Ensign Carpenter ... the young lady that seemed to enjoy the face beeing thrown into Shane's face. Shane doesnt knew her very good, only from occasional meetings in the sickbay, but Rangi's evaluation about Mercedes was very high ... so he was sure the lady was a skilled doc. Shane looked down at the PADD with the roster of teh new crew theyjust picked up from Kinsi. There were quite a lot names ... it almost seemed that there was some reorganisation going on on the ship. Shane shrugged thinking that it was just the standart way. They receive young eager crew ... the cre will get some experience in deep space and the SSF Comm moved them again away ... like an neverending circle. Shane looked at the first name: Andersen Foster, LT, Assistant Strategic Ops. He read the PADD a bit further and learned about the LT's uninque abilities and his strange fate. Beeing a clone of himself must be surely quite frustrating for the man ... and Shane tried for a minute to imagine how one would have to feel ... like a clone. Neverthless ... Foster's personal file was quite long. His last position was Assistant Strategic Ops on the USS Archer. That suggested that the guy was quite skilled in his job .. and the file confirned it. The only thing that seemed to be strange to Shane ... were the several remarks from Foster's senior officers about his working attitude. It almost looked like that the guy wasnt too keen to give his best in his duty ... . Making a remark in the other PADD, Shane thought that everyone deseves a chance and that a file cant say everything about a pserson. An another name in the change roster was: Gaalen Idrani, Ens, Assistant Engineering officer. Shane skimed through the recoreds of the andorian male, and saw nothing out of order there. Few recomendations and good evaluations. The young ensign will be surely a fine adding to the fine Engineering team. And the next was: Stephanie Camden, Ens., Assistant Science. Shane skimmed through the records of the rather active human lady and noticed that she was partially a betazoid. Betazoids were really strange beeings ... and if Stephanie will be at least a bit like Athena ... {Manitou save us} he thought. Shane saw the name of: Jack, Walsh, MCpt. "Ah ..." escaped from Shane's mouth. This man was then Acheson's replacement on the post of the ODA Commander. Shane looked at the sympatic face of the MCpt and started to read his file. Upon finishing reading ... Shane sighed a bit ... Walsh seemed to be quite a trouble maker ... according his personal file. Serving lastly on the same ship as LT. Anderson as CSEC, he was quite fitting for the ODA Comm job, but Shane was not sure if his personal behavious would be the same fitting. He shrugged to hismef: {We will see i gues} Among the lasted news Shane stumbled upon: Pete, J., Birt, Commander. Shane leaned a bit back in his chair and started to look at the records of the new Chimera's Chief Strategic Ops. He knew Commander Birt of course ... it was the same Commander Birt that he served under as XO on the USS Aries for the short time when his father tried to get him away from the Chimera and the same Commander Birt that had a brother on the Chimera. {What a pitty LT. Birt is MIA{ he thought. Shane was quite surprised about Birt beeing transfered to the ship ... afterall he was a Commander and he changed from the CO post to an department level post ... quite a 'downgrade' one could think. Deciding that he need to see the Commander, Shane decided to go and look for him after teh shift's end. He only hoped Birt will be onboard by that time. ==== End of log ===== Cmdr.
