=== Captains quarters === Keylor sat on a couch in his quarters that looked out a picture window in to space. He watched as the star base, Kinsi seemed to twirl about as the chimera encircled the small station. The small station had few precious docking ports, and since the chimera had no real need to dock with the station for repairs or re-supplying, the station commander had placed the chimera in a small orbit near the station. In the background, earth blues played as Keylor thought about the questions Athena had asked him about people calling him by his first name. To him he had never thought twice about how people addressed him. First he was the captain of a star ship in the federation. His job was to run the ship and perform the missions in a professional manner. There was never any though given t become familiar on a first name basis with any one. There was also his heritage. It was not common for traditional bajorans to hand out the honor of being addressed by first name. Keylor recalled hos once, long ago he tried to become on a first name basis with Nejor Okrin. And even then, with some one whom he figured he could identify with the most, they never reached that level and always addressed each other in the formal manner. This all made Keylor wonder. He wondered if some how humans, terrans, like the familiarity in the work place, if it made them more proficient some how. He had noticed this familiarity between Shane and Rangi, and even Athena, the betazoid. Though how it could possibly made them more productive, he could not tell. The questions rang in his head. He started to think if may be , somehow Athena was trying to hint at some thing. She was always a hard person to read. Athena tended to be evasive and indirect in her questions and comments, some thing that irritated Keylor to some degree. Though he had learned to live with her particular was to address issues, He preferred it when she, or any of the crew were direct and to the point. Guessing the mind of others, even females was not one of his strong points. {Could she be indicating that I need to socialize more? After all she had to have knows about bajoran customs before asking me. It would only makes sense that she would know these things before coming on board a starship with a bajoran captain.} He thought as his face soured with a puzzling look. {I know I tend to keep to my self, but it is hard to run a ship and be friends with people.} he continued to think. {Why does she ask these questions?} {Prophets be praised, that woman seems to make a point of getting her claws in to me and twisting them.} Keylor looked up at the darkened ceiling. {I must have done something to offend the prophets, and she is my punishment sent by them.} he shook his head. Keylor stood up and headed for the door. He figured he needed some other activity to get his mind of Athena's questions. Dressed in civilian cloths he headed out to the hall. A few steps from the door he stopped as 1lt Acheson hailed him. +TAPS+ Acheson to Colonel Bretam, request permission to launch targeting buoys and practice the weapons, sir?" Keylor stopped short of the door to the hall. He looked back over his shoulder to the spinning station. {Hrm... cant do that here, too close to the station.} he thought. He thoght for a few seconds and then replied. +TAPS+ Bretam here. Lieutenant. We will need to move the ship away from the station in order to do that. I don't see why we cant move off 100,000 kilometers form the station for your calibration. Who is the officer on duty? +TAPS+ Ensign Tripper sir. He is on duty in 15 minutes. Keylor thought for a moment. Since Acheson was now a bridge officer he would be expected to take the conn form time to time. Since they had no where to go, this was as good of time as any. +Taps+ since you want to do this, Take Trippers watch. Let him know he ahs the day off. Then Move the ship out to a respectable location. Contact the station to make sure you don't interfere with any of their shipping lanes. Also inform operations that they will need to run shuttles to and from the station for those on or wanting shore leave. +TAPS+ Aye sir. Keylor smiled. He could imagine Acheson's surprise at his direction of taking the conn, moving the ship out and performing his tests. Keylor could imaging if he were some new to the bridge office given the conn only after a day or two. He would definitely be nervous about breaking the ship. But then again the Chimera was no stranger to breaking and if Lieutenant Blackburn was half as good as Commander Quayle, he would have it back together in no time. With a smile on his face, Keylor then headed to the transporter room to hear to the star base before Acheson moved it out of transporter range. ===End Log ==== Col Bretam Keylor Captain USS Chimera
