===Chimera Bridge=== Many hours had passed since the freighter had docked with the chimera. In that time the ship had gone from an insane asylum on the verge of running out of crew to run her, to something that actually resembled a federation starship. Keylor now sat on the still deserted bridge reading over the reports form the various people who were able to form coherent sentences. Needless to say that the report form the medical department was the longest. With over half of the crew having been effected, the treatment the Simpson had shared with Ens Carpenter seemed to having positive effects on the effected crew on the chimera, save one, Oriana. Out of all those effected and treated, she and she alone seemed to have ill effects after the cure had been administered. The same seemed to happen to the effected Vulcan officer treated on the Simpson. This worried Keylor because if the cure was not usable on Vulcan's, then a cure for the entire base might not be possible. Sure, the number of Vulcan's on the base would be limited, and in theory they could all be sedated and restrained until they were cured. But not treating the effects of the pollen, and risking the Vulcan psyche being torn form the inside out with emotion was no better fate, at least for a Vulcan. Aside form the discouraging news that the chimera's chief science officer was being kept alive by artificial means, the remaining reports of the treated crew were encouraging. Even their beloved Chief medical officer had recovered enough to try to help with the volume of patients that stressed the limited medical staff, even after indenturing the medics form the oda in to the medical department while the crises remained. Reports of the recently returned engineering officer, Ens. Alshain, had been cleared for duty. This was a small miracle because of any department, the engineering staff had been reduced to two clear headed crewmen after the shuttle incident with the mysterious flow that seemed to cause the problem in the first place. With Alshain cleared, the systems in main engineering could be watched while a well deserved break for the two tired engineers could be made. Also cleared from Sick bay was their new engineering officer , the andorian, Ens Idrani. He like, Alshain seemed not to be effected as badly as the human crew. And since he had seniority over Alshain by a month, Keylor had appointed him acting Chief engineering officer until the crises of the crew illnesses was over and all crew could return to their posts. The remaining reports were very similar. After being injected with the antidote, and several hours of sleep, many crew were released from the sickbay and ordered to their quarters where they could rest in relative comfort and not feel like a sardine, packed in one of the two sickbays, just waiting for their turn to be poked. This was encouraging because with the diminished manpower, Keylor was hopeful that many of them would be able to return to duty for what Keylor felt was his only option in all of this crisis. Keylor had figured that If the reports form Doctor Summers were accurate, about how the people on the base were acting, and how with each passing hour, each passing day they seemed to fall deeper and deeper in to their neurosis. Soon the entire base would be pure chaos and the remaining crew trapped on the base, including his trusted executive officer, might befall some accidental, but fatal fate. And if that happened, Rangi would be inconsolable. This was some thing that Keylor did not want to see, especially over a stupid red flower. Any ways, if Shane were to disappear for the picture, who would keep the lovely doctor in line? Keylor wanted to do what he could to save his crewmen. And after talking to Mr. Cameron Sikes, he was sure he could save some, if not all of his crew. In his chat with his former attacker, Keylor learned form Cameron that the base was apparently experiencing some technical difficulties. After Cameron had described the plan to fool the base in to letting them leave, Cameron added that the base admittedly could not scan to confirm the faint. This is why Keylor now believe he could rescue his crew. He had toyed with the idea of cloaking the ship with the cloaking device starfleet Special Forces had installed on the tiny scout ship. His only concerns were that Kinsi station would be expecting something like that and flood the area with tachyons, thus leaving the cloak useless. But if they truly could not scan ships around the base, then scanning for a cloaked ship would not be possible, and the fear of discovery and being attached in the vulnerable state diminished. The plan is simple. Cloak the ship and fly in close to the base. Then with short range sensors, scan the base for their crew. This would be possible because most of the crew that were still missing were beamed to the station, allowing the chimera to use the bio-recordings form the transporter buffers to help match up chimera crew. Once they were identified, transporters would be used to transport the identified people in to the larger 'sickbay2' where the rejuvinated medical staff and awaiting security detail could subdue them and treat them wit the cure. Thoughit would not be an exact science, the information in the buffers would provide a 85% reliable match, but Keylor figured that if they were to beam out the wrong person, they would treat them none the less. It was better to do something, rather than nothing, he thought. The only ting Keylor could not be sure about were the stations shields. Though no sheilds were raised when the pack mule was leaving the station, after notifying the station they had a warp core breach, and none were detected after that event, there was not guarantee that the shields were inoperable. Though, if what Keylor had gathered form Rangi, and Cameron were any indication of what was happening on the station, the odds were slim the station would, or could raise their shields, making their transport efforts useless. It was the one chancy thing about the plan, but one worth taking. Rubbing his eyes he stood form his captains chair and looked around the room. He then glanced over to Lt Foster. "Lieutenant! We are going on a little trip." He said pointing to the viewscreen. "We are going to try to recover our crew for the base." He said walking over to the operations console. Andersen looked a bit interested in Keylors words, "Yes sir? What are your orders?" he asked in his trite and short reply. Keylor stopped short of the console. "Well, according to the reports I have been given, the station is unable to make sensor scans. If this is true we should be able to cloak the ship and fly over there undetected. Then , using our short range sensors you should be able to identify and lock on to our crew." Andersen looked a bit dismayed. "But sir, I had heard that the crew that returned on the freighter had throw away their comm badges. If the rest of the crew had done the same, it will be like looking for a needle in a hay stack." He said in a terse tone. Keylor nodded. "Aye but if you can use the bio-scans form the transporter buffers, you should be able to narrow down whom is most likely form our ship and whom is not. Once identified, we should be able to transport them form the station to sickbay2. We know we are short 30 crewmen, so we transport the most likely 30 matches and see what we come up with." He said rambling off the idea as if he had told it to Andersen before. Andersen looked less than enthused. "Yes sir I will find a transporter chief and have him send up a copy of the transporter logs right away. Should I contact the medical staff and let them know of the plan?" He said. Keylor shook his head, "No that is alright, I was going to head down there in a few minutes. I will tell them in person. BUT notify Ens Idrani. Have him and the few active engineering officers check over the cloaking device. Since this ship was launched we have never activated it. Before we turn it on I want them to make sure everything is in order. If the cloak will not work, we might still be detected, and at close range the station could inflict serious damage on the Chimera should they still have the ability y to aim their phasers." Andersen nodded. "Oh and have Marine captain Acheson report to the bridge." "Mariner Captain Acheson sir?" he said in an almost condescending tone. "Sir. the last time I saw him he was rambling on about seeing borg drones." Keylor nodded. "Yes I know, but Doctor Carpenter's latest reports say he is well on the mend and has been cleared for light duty. You can very well monitor the cloaking devise, scan for crew and coordinate the transport by your self. Have him report up here and he can monitor the cloak. That should be well in his ability at this time." Andersen nodded. "Aye sir." Was the short reply. Keylor moved to his left and started walking to the turbo lift, and he passed by Andersen, he could see a not so pleasant look on his face. Just as Keylor was about to loose Andersen out of the corner of his eye, Andersen asked a question. "Sir, you mention 'according to the reports you have mentioned' when talking about the stations ability to scann. Are they reliable? Who told you this?" he asked. Keylor stopped and looked at Andersen. "Well it came form the pilot of the freighter, a Mister Cameron Sikes. Though he too was on the station, Doctor Carpenter has performed a full evaluation of him and determined he was not effected by the pollen." Keylor noticed Andersen's eyes perk up at the mention of the name , but then his face masked the indication of any familiarity. "Very well sir." He replied curtly. Keylor not wanting to ask why, he simply turned back to the turbolift and continued on his was. Though he was not sure why Andersen acted in that manner, he figured he was at least familiar with Cameron. Keylor knew that Acheson servers on the USS Archer, it was in the personal bio he had read Andersen. And as Keylor remembered, Cameron was a member of the same ship when he attacked Keylor those years ago. It was quite possible that the two knew each other, if only by name. As soon as the lift arrived, Keylor stepped in and headed to the sickbay. ===End log=== Col Bretam Keylor Captain USS Chimera
