*** Sickbay * USS Chimera *** Oriana sat on a biobed in sickbay. She woke up before 6,593 minutes. This was a favourable condition, her mental powers worked well again and she was able to calculate time as before. She had a little headache, but thought: {I will get it under control in a while and then can get back to duty.} She looked around the sickbay, but she looked not for a doctor, only for her uniform. Rangi left her office and headed towards the main exit of Sickbay. {What wouldnt I give for a shower...a clean uniform and a sleep!} she asked herself. From the corner of her eye she noticed a movement and turned to look at a patient sitting up on a biobed and looking around the ward as though they had lost something. {Oriana} Rangi thought and smiled with relief. She walked towards the figure. " Oriana! You're awake..how are you feeling?" Oriana turned to the voice, she heard. It was doctor Summers, one of the missing crew. {And I thought, we are the subject of a conspiracy ..} Oriana needed to smile in her mind. "I am perfectly well again and fully capable of going back to my duty. Where is my uniform?" Rangi couldnt help but chuckle."Oh...I dont think you'll be going anwhere just yet." she replied with a smile."You've been far from well and need to rest." She moved to the side of Orianas bed and half sat on the edge. "Do you know what happened?" Rangi asked more seriously. Oriana frowned in spirit. {Typical starfleet doctor. They cant grasp that they cant help a Vulcan, because they cannot comprehend their physiology fully. Doctor Summers wears a long face, alright then, serious.} "I remember the whole .. adventure, Vulcans have this talent. And if I remember well, Colonel Bretam was here before for a while and you didnt look happy when he left. So, I think, we have a new orders, haven`t we?" Rangi was surprised by Orianas reply, for it was only a few hours since the ensign had been near death. "Well...yes." she answered." ..though not orders quite yet. The Colonel has a plan to rescue the crew still on Kinsi. He plans to use the cloaking device and get as near to the base as possible then transport the crew off. Trouble is.." she added with a slight frown "..we have to find them by bio scans. It wont be easy." Oriana was surprised. {It isn`t the whole crew onboard? And the station is still affected?} She thought for a while. "My department worked on recalibration of sensors before this incident, so we can try it with them, if my people completed the modifications. But I think, it will not be a problem. How many people are on Kinsi station?" "Thirty" Rangi replied "..... Including the XO. As far as we can tell the base shields are down." Rangi paused, struck by a sudden thought at the science officers interest. " Oriana...you're not thinking of going back on duty are you." she stated. The information that Commander Guzman was on the station too, took Oriana aback. She looked at Doctor Summers closely. {She looks unhappy and it is not a surprise in this situation. What would I do, if Martin ...} But she cuoldn't allow such a thought. {Because I am a Vulcan and the feelings aren`t relevant.} "Hm, thirty, it is enough." But when she noted the doctors view, she continued: "But I am convinced that we will find them all. And yes, I am thinking about this." And with these words Oriana jumped down from the bed, but the whole sickbay twisted with her in the next moment, so she needed to catch hold of the bed again. "Not so fast!" Rangi clasped Orianas arm "You're not going anywhere...get back on the bed please....that's better. Now I know you want to return to your duties...but I cant allow that. You've been very ill..you still arent fully recovered. I'm sorry...but you will have to remain here... in sickbay." Oriana sat down on the bed again. She knew, Doctor Summers was right. But now it wasn`t the time to rest! "I can rest after this will be worked out." She looked at doctor again: "You were affected too, are you on duty yet?" Senseing a trap Rangi had to answer truthfully. "Well...yes I am" she said and hurriedly added: "...But I wasnt as badly affected as you were.I know what you're going to say...and the answer is 'no'!. You cant return to duty yet." Oriana was not surprised by the doctors negative answer. {I won't get anywhere if I argue.} "Allright, doctor. I will rest. But I`d like return to my quarters." Rangi said nothing but picked up the medpad lying next to Orianas bed. She read it, looked up at the overbed display and back at the pad. {It's amazing...I havent really a reason to keep her here...not when we're expecting thirty more patients." She glanced at Oriana sitting patiently in front of her with an expressionless face. "Some of them will probably be very badly affected by the pollen...after all, they've been with it for days now." Pushing the thought of Shanes possible condition firmly away, Rangi replaced the pad. "Well.." she said, " I dont know....I certainly need the space you're taking up...and you DO seem to be making a remarkable recovery...." Oriana saw her chance, and knew better than to trifle it away. "I promise, I will not make any problems. I will return to my quarters and rest there. Is this adequate?" It was difficult to tell, Vulcans looked so inscrutable all the time. Rangi considered it. {Would she stay put?..probably for a while...but she's 'bound' to want to go to see what her team are doing. I know I would in her place.No...she wont stay in her quarters!...mmmm.....} "Well...if you promise to stay there...then I think I might allow you to go...but I, or someone else, will check on you from time to time. You were 'very' badly affected.Agreed?" Oriana expected the doctor to say something similar. With a bit of luck she would be able to work out this little problem too. She nodded shortly and she shuffled away quickly before the doctor could think better of it. "Oriana!" Rangi saw the ensign 'freeze' and slowly look round. "Do you need a uniform?" Rangi asked, pointing to the standard sickbay gown that Oriana wore. "I'll get it for you" she said and couldnt resist smiling. *** End log *** Ensign Oriana Chief Science officer USS Chimer & LtCmdr Rangi Summers CMO/2XO USS Chimera
