<< OOC ... congratulations General ... ;-) >> ====== Bridge, USS Chimera ====== Shane sat in the XO's chair and read a PADD, one from a heap next to him. There were a dozen reports from various departments and Shane wanted to be up to date. It was merely a day since Rangi released him from the sickbay and he still felt not completely all right. He was completely focused on the PADD and he even overheard the 'bleeping' on the TAC console behind him, announcing an incoming transmission. After three seconds 1LT. Acheson announced: "Sir, there is an transmission from SSF Command coming in" Shane looked up from his seat at Acheson and nodded. Since it was SSF Command on the line, it was surely the Colonel they wanted to speak with. "Call the Colonel Lieutenant" he replied to Acheson. Acheson replied swiftly looking directly at Shane: "Its labeled for you only Commander". "Hmmm" escaped from Shane's lips. He was quite surprised and surely looked like that. He could see it in Acheson's eyes. He swiftly tried to change his expression to his normal one and turned away. "Lieutenant rely to it the ready room" he said, already heading there. ===== Captain's ready room ===== Shane went over to the table and tapped the Comm panel. The SSF banner appeared for a second there, before the image of Admiral Hunter appeared on the screen. "Commander Guzman," Hunter said when the image of the USS Chimera's Executive Officer appeared on the screen. "I have something here that may be of interest to you," the Admiral continued. While the admiral spoke, Shane managed to recover from the surprise of seeing the most senior officer in the SSF. It was really rare that the SSF Commandant himself issued orders to a single ship and even less to deal with a ship's XO. Shane began to feel a bit uneasy. 'High ups' on screen talking about 'something interesting' rarely means someting nice ... "Admiral Hunter" Shane replied to the image on the screen and waited for the admiral to go on. "It's come to my attention that Colonel Keylor is overdue for a promotion. His service record is noteworthy, and it continues to be in his service to the Special Forces. Starfleet Command has authorized me to grant him the rank of Brigadier General. However, I received word that the Chimera will not be docking with Bragg. Because I can't do it in person, I would like you to take care of the Colonel's promotion. As it were, I'm sure it would mean more coming from a member of his crew." Shane's face brightened in relief and joy. Relief cause the admiral wasnt asking for the head of someone from the crew and joy for the Colonel. The two man in charge of the ship, Bretam and Guzman werent close friends, but they shared respect for the other ... and from a certain angle of view, Shane admired his CO. Smiling he repied: "That are very good news Admiral. I believe i can speak for all the crew when saying that we all are happy about the Colonel's promotion." He chuckled somewhat when adding: "None the less I look forward for the party the Col ... General WILL be holding". With a bit more serious face he finished: "It will be an honor to be the one to hand the General his first star" "I'm sure it will, Commander," the Admiral said. "Sir" Shane asked, "do you have any special requirements for the ceremony or do you leave everything in the hands of the Col ... Generals crew? I mean there is a certain habit when officers promotions are in place and i would be very happy if we could keep it." "That will be up to the crew, Commander," Hunter confirmed. Shane noded: "Aye sir, its an habbit that goes far even to the time when the General was marine CO on starbase 742. To be honest sir ... the promoted officers will be pied. Well, thrown a pie into his face. I've been pied twice by now and well" he paused thinking if it was clever to tell things like that to an admiral, "I would like to pay my due to the General back ..." The Admiral raised an eyebrow. "An interesting touch to add to the ceremony," he said. "As I mentioned before, the details will be left up to you and the crew. Now, if there isn't anything else, I need to attend to a few pressing items. Extend my congratulations to the General." Shane noded pleased that even the 'big boss' of SSF wasnt against Keylor's pieing.He hardly managed to hide his grin imagining Keylor's expression when he will notice the pie ready for HIM (this time). "Thank you Admiral, we'll prepare everything for the promotions" Hunter noded one more time and the familiar ensigia of Starfleet special forces appeared on the screen.
