=/\= Holodeck 1 =/\= The Hurricaine stood in the air as the clouds passed by dispassionately. The plane was in a formation with other Hurricaines and Spitfires. Radio headsets were used to communicate between the ship. "15 minutes to contact" the squadron leader called out. Acheson looked out the window at the beautiful yet small English countryside that stood below him. What a terrific land to defend. Shane was sitting in the small cocpite of the small spitfire fighter plane wondering a bit what he was doing there. He accepted Acheson's invitation for a holodeck simulated battle ... too late he got aware that instead of shuttles they would be flying Earth 20th century air planes. But on the other hand, it might be quite more funny then a standart shuttle dog fight ... afterall Shane's skills were not among the most famous even in Shuttle piloting ... and piloting an ancient air craft would be teh same fun as an adrenaline sport ... to keep that 'artifact' in the air. "Roger that" he replied to the squadron leader as he looked around to see the landscape. That was another advance of the old style fight ... one could see the landscape. Shane was born on earth, but he has never visited the area of the old Great britain ... and this was the first time he 'saw' it directly. =/\= holodeck 2 =/\= Xenai walked into the empty holodeck, and scrolled through the programs. She paused at one for a moment. "Computer, who is in holodeck 1?" "Commander Guzman and Lt. Acheson" +taps+ Ensign Alshain to Lt.Acheson and Cmdr. Guzman +TAPS+ Acheson here. +taps+ Do you mind if i join you? Permission granted, Ensign. Do you plan to be British or German? Xenai thought for a moment. It would be intresting to see the XO and the Lieutenant in action. "Computer begin program ****WWII-Britain3delta**** and link to holodeck 1." Her orange starfleet uniform fizzled away in a wave of sparks, leaving behind ancient gray fatigues. She took a moment to straighten out and get comfortable. The uniform was a bit stiff, consisting of a tightly cut jacket fitted with a belt around the small of her waist, Breeches, which ballooned out at her thighs then tapered back in to fit snuggly under knee high leather boots. Xenai noted the red band with a black swastika on her right arm. Despite the morality of the federation, the humans had moments in their history that could make even a romulan cringe, but then again who was she to judge. She shrugged inwardly and began walked across the field of planes that had materialized before her. Xenai approached a small spotty gray plane adorned with the same symbol she wore on her arm and the word Schlangenbändiger written across the fuselage. She paused for a moment, studying the letters, then smiled. {snakecharmer... how fitting} Sirens began blaring, catching her off gaurd. Several dozen men wearing the same luftwaffe uniform appeared from a nearby plane hanger. One of the soldiers grabbed her by the shoulder and began to bark orders. "der Ansturm angebrochen dann, der Britische losschlagen sein Versuch mißlang" Xenai blinked, looking a bit confused. "Computer, activate the universal translator, and replay the last minute" she said calmly. The man blinked from existance, and then back again several paces away. Rushing up and grabbing her, he began screaming again, this time in heavily accented english. "The ambush of the british has failed, the attack begins now." 'Yes sir' she nodded, and hopped into the plane. She dropped down into the pilots seat studying the controls. "Computer pause simulation" The world outside the plane froze. "Computer, plane specifications" The computer began "Messerschmitt Bf 109 4, Friedrich, powered by the DB 601E engine, weight 6,880 pounds, 1350 horsepower, speed 390 MPH at altitude, service ceiling 39,400 feet. Weapons, large caliber MG 151 20mm cannon, 7.9mm mounted machii..." "Thats enough" Xenai inturrupted, looking somewhat impressed. She had read about early earth planes, but never actually tried to fly one. {This should be interesting} she smiled as the engine roared to life, and the plane began sputtering down the runways, following the rest of the squadron into the sky. She was ready to charm some snakes. The squadron leader of the British side called out: "Radar is detecting several Jerry planes directly ahead. Choose your targets and engage." Acheson looked ahead and saw a fearsome formation of planes, with a formidable black swastica painted on their wings. He pulled up, in order to avoid detection, in hopes of swinging from behind. For a moment Shane studiet the german airplanes that were fastly approaching. Sure, from this distance there were barely more then large dots, but they were growing fast. {Too fast} Shane thought. The trouble flying an ancient earth aircraft was the lacu of any shielding. This plane (and every else as well) had no shields at all. Every single hit could be fatal. That of course was a reason not to use the standart fighters maneuvers ... cause most of then counted with the shield protection. An interesting thought was the fact that Ens. Xenai joined the simulated battle as well but on the other side of the conflict, so Acheson and Guzman hat to face not only AI 'bots' but a real player as well. Xenai was engineer ... but the first thing an Tac officer , and Shane used to be Tac for quite a time, learned was never to underestimate your enemy. Shane would like to have a dof fight with the female romulan, but without asking the holodeck computer, it was impossible to find out with plane was piloted by her. The klingon words "Its a good day to die" sprang in his mind and Shane smiled to himself. To avoid the middle of the formation, Shane directed his aircraft downways, quite in an another direction then the rest of the squadron. Hoping that the germans will pursue the core of the squadron, he intented to catch one or two off guard later. Acheson pushed the trigger on his stick and felt the ship shake slightly, as bullets seemed to come from the dual machine shot out toward the crosshairs on his primitive display. A call came in from the squadron leader: "Don't waste your ammunition. Save it for the Krauts." Just then, the German planes passed by the Allied formation. Acheson could hear the bullets flying through the air as they passed through him. He pulled to the right, to reverse himself. Somehow, a German plane ended up right in front of him, flying away. He sped up and lined up his gun. With a few quick trigger pushes he fired, striking the enemy plane. The bullets ripped through the hull mercilessly and it began to smoke. The pilot continued though and tried to pull back, to get a shot in on Acheson. Acheson kept firing as the German fighter maneuvered, until he could clearly see a fire in the engine compartment on the plane. The motion of the air intensified the plane's fire and it began to fall from the air quickly. The pilot jumped from the plane. He sighed. The poor fool. He's doomed. Suddenly, a white cloth came from the pilot's back and slowed his descent. "Huh. They were more clever back then than I had thought." His interest was interrupted, though, as a German plane appeared behind him and began firing. BY some chance, Shane aircraft was unpursued at the moment. Obviously, Shane's hope that the germans would pursue the core of the squadron were fullfiled. Slowly, still a bit messing up with the ancient aircraft, Shane leveled his plane upwards into the fighting attitude. He could see several planes in dog fight ... one or two pursuing a single one from the oposite force. Till now it was not sure who had the battle luck on his hands ... Shane was a bit lost without a scanner device on board and how he tried to find a plane he could engage. He had not a long time to wait, cause suddenly were bullets flying at him from behind. "Geeez" Shane cried out and tried to evade by turnign the plane upwards and right. He shouted into the radio: "Jezus, one is just behind me. Anyone could give me some cover?" Shane wondered how would anyone recognize which plane from the UK squadron was asking for backup, from the occasional radio traffic, he could never say who said what. As several bullets hit his plane, Shane asked himself if it wasnt Xenai in the plane that was pursuing him. The plane shook violently as Shane lost suddenly some attitude ... and started to descent slowly down. Shane tried to pull his plane up but there was little to none response from his craft. "I am hit, loosing the controll" he cried out into the radio. The battle was intense to say the least. The germans zoomed by left and right, leaving Xenai feeling more than a little enept. This was no federation fighter. She struggled to keep the fragile plane under control, as they flew into the thick of the british formation. A plane caught her eye. it dove down, away from the fight, avoiding the rest. Xenai raised an eyebrow, this could be good practice on easy pray. She rolled the plane over, doing a vertical u-turn to come face up just underneath the straggler. Pulling up on the throttle, she fired the cannons, but missed. The recoil of the guns sent shockwaves through the plane, through the throttle, and through her arms. Shaking off the shock she pushed the throttle down, and the plane dove towards the ground. "Lets try this one more time" she sneered pulling the plane back up, focusing on her target. The bullets hummed through the air, slicing through the wing of the enemy plane. She could make out sparks begining to erupt from the wound. But her moment of glory was shattered by the scream of bullets. Her plane dove again, rolling on its side, and back up again, now flying wing to wing with her attacker. {this is bad} she thought glancing at the british plane. If he was feeling a little suicidal today, then she stood no chance. Xenai pulled up on the throttle, barely missing another german fighter, her plane looped and came up behind the british plane. She pushed the trigger, and her plane shook in response, but nothing was fired. {Oh shit... not now} She pushed the trigger again and again frantically. The guns had jammed, and she was left unarmed. The German pilot behind Acheson was a veteran and his arim was true. Bullets flew verwhere around his fighter, but most tore through his metallic plane like paper. His rudder felt sluggish and then he felt the entire engine stop. The plane began to fall and he knew what he had to do. He opened the hatch and climbed out, then jumped to the earth below. He hit the airground with a slump. "Huh?" The program, in his holodeck ended: "You have been shot down by Enemy Forces. Your days as a pilot are over." He smiled, even chuckling slightly at how he'd gone off in a blaze of glory. 2 Minutes earlier Shane have been informed that ... [You have been burned alive in your plane. Your days as a pilot are over]. He chucked slightly at Acheson's humour and now was studing the holodeck statistics. {All three of us have been shut down} he thought and raised an eyebrow like Ens. Oriana uses to do ... {Ens. Alshain was the one who shoot me down, I guess i have to offer her a rematch soon} ===== End of log ===== Ens. Xenai Alshain AEO USS Chimera & 1LT.
