*** Deck 5 near SickBay * USS Chimera *** Rangi knew that, strictly speaking, there was no need for her to return to sickbay to see Maikai Quiocho.But the young woman was one of the AMO's and Rangi had a point or two she wanted clarified. She was acutely aware that she now held Shanes position of XO, albeit temporarily, and already felt the need to double check everything. {I'll be a nervous wreck by the end of this!} she thought and entered into the brightly lit sickbay. Nurse Anne Robinson greeted her. "All the guests arrived safely?" Anne asked. "They were just beginning to when I left." Rangi replied and seeing the person she sought, headed in the direction of bay2. "How's Maikai?" "Fine." Anne replied. "Sleeping soundly thanks to a shot of Imatrexine Steve gave her. He's sure its a migraine." Rangi came level with the biobed, picked up the medpadd and began to read it. Anne straightened the coverlet over the sleeping AMO "Ok...so she wasnt on duty." "No." Anne shook her head. "She ended her shift and then she and Corporal Pressman left together.He brought her back an hour or so later." "Where is he now?" Anne shrugged. "He didnt stay long..he may have a shift himself, I dont know." " He was fit to leave wasnt he?" "Yes...Maikai had treated him herself..there's a discharge report somewhere...want me to get it?" "No...it's alright... thankyou." Rangi set the padd aside. "It was the mention of alcohol when Steve called me to say Maikai was here that bothered me." Anne nodded."Corporal Pressman said she tripped and hit her head on a coffee table. There's no serious damage done though." They both looked at Maikai, blissfully unaware of their attention. "I sometimes wish the General hadnt lifted the ban on alcohol." Rangi stated. "It's more trouble than its worth..." she turned away from the bedside " ...and what about Lt Blackburn? the transfer went ok?" Anne nodded."I explained everything to Dr Olexa...he said he'll keep you informed. Apparantly there are two others from Kinsi itself who didnt respond well to the antidote.It's a worry isnt it?" Rangi sighed "Yes...yes it is.But the hospital ship is much the best place for him to be..particularly now...with a new mission beginning." She paused and pulling her thoughts away from the CEO, she told the nurse: "I'd best get back...they were going to have a meal after seeing their quarters." Anne glanced at Rangi as they left the sleeping patient. "I'm quite looking forward to meeting them...it's a bit different for us isnt it...to have children around the place? Lucy and Steve and Mercedes are fixing up a games room come excercise place in one of the holodecks..trampolines...tunnels...that sort of thing...only hope none of the children come to grief." Rangi was about to agree when Annes murmured "Uho" made her look towards the main entrance. Athena Wellington walked towards them, carrying a small child in her arms.The little girl looked at them with large green eyes and a tear stained face showed her unhappiness. "Athena!" Rangi exclaimed seeing the counselor and the state she was in."Scott?" she asked as the AMO followed the counselor into sickbay. He too carried something.... a small bundle wrapped in a cloth napkin. "I'm afraid we have a casualty." he said and strode to the nearest vacant biobed where he reverently laid his bundle down. Rangis heart sank to her boots. {So soon?} she thought. Scott turned to them and to Rangis surprise she saw he was smiling.
