===== Shane's quarters, USS Chimera ===== It was not ago that Shane finished taking shower and now, wrapped only in a towel, stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom, trying his best to shave his chin. Lets be honest, Shane wasnt too keen to shave every morning and it wasnt an uncommon thing that he missed one or two times a week ... but today, with the winter ball happening in the evening, it was a special occasion. Once finished and 'aftershaved' with the aftershave Rangi liked best, he looked into the mirror again and gave his hair a hard stare. That was an another public secret ... Shane's hair led an ongoing fight with its bearer ... He wasnt a fan of those modern Bolian cosmetics appliances and tinctures ... he used only a comb and water to make his hair looking ... well not pretty, but acceptable. As already said ... today was a special occasion ... so Shane took the advantage of the blue-ish gel like thing that he got from the ship's friseur ... a big fat Bolian. The Bolian himself was originally assigned as support crew (waste disposal, cleaning duty, mechanical maintanance) but now was maily 'used' as ship's friseur ... Having a short cut hair, the appliance of the gel thing (and Shane's experiece) ... his hair turned slowly into a hedgehog's cut ... a tiny bit resembling to hair cuts that those old Earth cyber punks used to wear in the 23rd century. {Not a big deal hoestly ...} Shane said to himself when he saw the final result ... but then only shrugged. He knew the several hard-proove laws in the universe ... and his hair beeing like a bird nest or a hedgehog was among them. Going over to the bedroom, Shane opened the single warderobe standing in the room and carefully pulled out his dress uniform. He carefully unfolded it and put it on the bed. The dress uniform was of course mostly white. Starfleet had sometimes funny ideas about uniforms and appearance of its officers and a WHITE dress uniform was among their master pieces. It was decorated with thin gold lines on the edges and the collar piece was in command red color. The three golden pips were on the breast part two times, one on the left side, one time on the right side ... not too much under the collar part. Well, the uniform itself was elegant but ... {the HECK} it was white! <<OOC ... Well, have seen already several dress uniforms in ST. I believe this one wore Picard's enterprise crew in one of the latest movies and since it could be NICE to see all of you (man) in white, the Chimera crew has those WHITE uniforms ... ;))) ::grins evily::>> Looking at the left breast part, Shane saw the several ribbons he earned in his time in starfleet till now. There were several academy ribbons (mostly shades of blue color), The two mostly white ones - Fleet Commendations ribbon and the Horizont award, two mostly red ones - Golden shield and Citation for galantry and the mostly yellow ones - Technical excellence award and Bronze star of valour ribbon. Sure, for an Acting CO that was a bit low count ... but hey! theres always time for some more, isnt it? Once dressed, Shane went again to the bathroom and took a critical look @ himself. He felt a bit uncomfortable in the uniform and it was even a bit tight! {Geeeez} he thought {I am putting on weight} Well, with xmass time it was good to understand that ... all those fancy foods and cakes and cookies ans stuff ... that was a LOT of fat and sugar. First Shane went over to the Comm pannel and send a mail to Athena and asked her to prepare an another pie ready for him. Shane had blue velvet box with a hollow pip in his pocket and only he knew who will be the receiver. Finishing the business ... Shane went over to his table and got the little white box that was lying on it. Inside was a little present for Rangi ... a little Orchidea flower on a hand bracelt made of dark blue titatium with three single white crystals embedded into it. Shane knew that Rangi liked dark blue ... gems and flowers .... but if such a mix will be a success ... that will only the future reveal.
