Athena sat at her desk waiting for cadet Ceril Winnie to arrive. His last
appointment was a very short one due to his agitated state and she had decided
to see him today. While she waited thought she prepared her report on the
children for Shane. She was preparing a complete report from their arrival, to
the missing and then found, to the children's party and how well it went. She
included the tree incident and the hero of the hour and reported that Jules
didn't suffer any from the experience as she caught him and his brother trying to
convince some poor cadet that they were indeed only one person. The only
part left out was that of Philip's behavior toward her and the departure that
wasn't sue to happen for a bit. She also added in comments from the kids about
the lovely program that MCapt. Acheson ran.
[Ding] The chime sounded and then Cadet Winnie entered asking, "Am I late?"
Athena looked at the small chrono sitting on her desk and then up to the
Cadet and answered, "No, right on time," and then added a smile. She motioned the
cadet further into the room and to have a seat.
She smirked as Ceril walked in and laid on the sofa. She debated a moment or
two which of the two questions she wanted to ask him. Either would get him
talking but which would get him to the heart of the matter quicker. She
wouldn't have thought her continued silence would draw the rather uptight man out
but it did. "Counselor, I don't think this therapy is working," he stated with
a modicum of confidence.
Athena looked at him as she sat in a more comfortable chair and in one closer
to her subject. "Why not," She asked.
"Well, First I was still terrified of THAT dog," he replied and then paused.
Athena noted the sarcasm but said nothing. Ceril blushed brightly and then
continued, "Besides its embracing to explain about this," he held up the
stuffed dog, "to everyone."
Athena arched a brow and asked, "To everyone or just the young lady to whom
you were talking to at the ball last night?"
The blush on the cadet's faced deepened as he responded, "Well .... everyone
a little bit .... but her mostly." He sat up abruptly and almost yelled, "But
this therapy isn't working ...... I was still afraid of that Ginormous DOG."
{Ginormous .... gigantic / enormous. Gee, its not as if the dog was a St.
Bernard.} Athena shook her head. "Did you faint when you saw the dog?"
"No."
"Did you walk past the dog," She continued to ask.
"Yes, but ..."
"No buts," she continued on keeping Ceril's answers short, "would you have
talked to the girl before the therapy?"
"Probably not," he answered soon realizing short and sweet was all the
counselor wanted.
"The your therapy is working .... Your just not ready for the big doggie,
yet."
Ceril thought the counselor sounded way to optimistic. Athena moved to her
desk and grabbed a padd on it she typed the title of a holo program for Ceril.
Handing the padd to him she said, "I want you to make time to visit the
holodeck and run this program at least once before I see you next week."
Ceril stood and looked at the padd with a dubious expression. He nodded and
then slowly walked out of her office oddly enough like a puppy with its tail
tucked between its legs.
Athena grabbed another padd and made a few notes and then left her office to
check on the children.
