===== Captain's ready room ===== Shane sat in the confortable chair behind the desk and tried not to yawn. It was middle morning, but Shane felt tired like after a long run. Well, the 'run' was long indeed ... first the winter ball with all the dancing stuff and thereafter Rangi ... with ... Shane thought about the conversation Rangi and he had. It was not a pleasant conversation and emotions had the upper hand about mind and reason. Shane would never guess it ... but the point of the conversation was Athena. The main trouble with Athena was the fact that Rangi was somewhat jealous about the pretty counselor. To be honest ... Athena WAS an attractive and sexi (unattached) lady and Shane was sure that Rangi wasnt the only jealous (about Athena) woman on board, but Rangi surprised him. Aye, Athena and he do spend time together working on crew evaluation and personal reports. Aye, Shane liked Athena as a friend and does not refuse an occasional drink with her. Aye, he found her attractive and in some way he felt attracted to Athena ... but he never thought about having an affair with her. {At least not since Aurora ...} Sighing quietly, Shane reached for the next PADD on the desk. Looking at the report's headline, he realised it was Athena's status report about the 'Kids mission'. Reading it through, Shane learned that the kids are 'safe and sound' and there happened almost no iccidents involving them. Athena mentioned LT. Foster's and MCpt Acheson's participation and support and Shane noticed it down as a 'plus point' for those two officers. He will take that in consideration when their next evaluation will come. Althought if there was nothing about one of the boy named Philip Smart mentioned in Athena's report, Shane 'heard' that the boy wasnt behaving in the best way. For a moment he considered if he could speak with the boy, but then decided not to do ... the boy did nothing major to 'earn' a talk with the ACO. Suddenly a call from the Bridge interrupted Shane's thoughts: "Commander" started the unmistakable voice of Mr. Anderson, "we are entering the Tetris System" +TAPS+ Very well Lieutenant, Ill be right there Shane droped the PADD on the table, stood from the chair and went through the little ready room towards the door. The door opened with a quiet 'hiss' and Shane entered the bridge. A swift glance revealed that the bridge was (again) populated by the alpha shift. Most of the alpha shift's officers attented the winter ball, but there were almost no mark of acute sleeplacking on any of them visible. Ops was nammed by LT. Foster, Tactical by Mcpt. Acheson, helm with LT. York, Science with PO Petrel and to Shane's surprise, behind the engineering console he recognized noone else as Ens. Xenai. Walking over to the CO's seat he said towards Andy: "On screen Mr. Foster". The big wall main screen went alive and showed the vanishing warp effect ... and then the farest (from the central sun) planet of the Tetris system. For a moment Shane enjoyed the spectacular view on the large ice ring of Tetris XII before tirning back and asking: "How long till we reach the orbit of Tetris II Mr. Foster? The human clone tapped his console for a moment: "34 Minutes sir" he replied. Shane's lips formed a smile turning to helm: "Stright to the orbit Mr. York, steady as she goes. I dont know about you, but ill be glad when the kids will be off the ship. We already have had our share of babysitting" The answer he got were the agreeding looks from the male part of the bridge crew and the 'i dont care' type look from Xenai. Looking at the Tactical console just behind the CO's seat he said: "Captain, standart scan of the system. I dont want any surprise poping up when we will deliver the children." Shane then turned to Foster and said: "Mr. Foster, please inform LT. Wellington and MCpt. Walsh that the kids have to be ready for transport in 35 Minutes" He half turned away but then added: "And inform the base on Tetris II about our arrival" ===== End of log ===== Cmdr.
