Lieutenant JG Mercedes Carpenter Assistant Medical Officer USS Chimera NCC 96899 = Medical Stock Room “You looked very pretty at the ball,” Scott smiled at Mercedes, and added a wink just for good measure. Mercedes felt herself blush a deep red. She was suddenly very thankful that her long hair concealed her ears which had definitely changed to the colour of tomatoes. “Why thank you, Scott. You looked very handsome yourself.” “I saw you talking to someone outside of the mess hall…” Scott left it hanging. “Oh, that’s Lieutenant Versey,” Mercedes explained. She knew Scott was not the jealous type; he was probably just curious. “We served on the Archer together. I don’t know him that well, to be honest.” “That’s good to know,” he muttered to himself. “Sorry?” Mercedes asked, not catching the last phrase. “I didn’t get that.” “Oh nothing, just thinking out loud,” Scott covered. “We should probably get started.” Mercedes nodded. The stock room was almost half as full as it usually, and several of the stock had expired. The Kinsi incident had severely drained their resources. “Let’s start with the ODA battlefield trauma kits here on the floor.” Opening the trauma kits, they went through them one by one to make sure all the equipment was inside and functioning properly. Each had to have a medical tricorder, a hypospray and a dermal regenerator. It took them about forty minutes to sort through all the trauma kits. Some of the kits were missing equipment and were put aside to be replaced later. “So, when would you like to go dancing again?” Scott asked as he neatly placed the completed trauma kits into the storage lockers. “How about tonight?” Mercedes suggested. “I’m sure we could find a nice holoprogram… or you know what? We could always ask permission to beam down to the colony. Maybe there’s a club or a dance hall.” “It’s just a small colony, I doubt there’ll be any fancy places,” Scott replied. “Mmm, you’re right,” Mercedes said. “When are we going to dock at a big colony or a nice decent Starbase? We always seem to be going to these dingy places.” Scott just shrugged. “We work for Special Forces… we have to do all the dirty work. Like babysitting overgrown teenagers, for instance.” Mercedes tried not to giggle. She know he was deliriously happy to be rid of Gina and her gang. “Will you hand me the medkits in the upper lockers, please? I can’t reach them.” “With pleasure,” he replied, stepping on the bench in front of the lockers to reach up to the top ones. “Help!! Help!!” The panicked cry came from the other side of the open door. Mercedes raised an eyebrow and peeked into Sickbay to see what was going on. “Help!! I’ve been stung by a bee!!” “What the…” Scott remarked, looking down while he took out a medkit. Ceril Winnie came rushing at Mercedes like a rhinoceros in heat and she hardly had time to side step him. Grabbing him by the arm, she brought him to a halt. “I can’t see! My eyes have swollen shut!” “Calm down, Ceril,” Mercedes said. “You’re in Sickbay, I’ll take care of you. Where did the bee sting you?” “Right here,” Ceril replied with a pout, pointing at the corner of his eyes. His whole face was swollen and puffy, and he had turned a bright shade of red. “Where did you get a bee from?” Scott asked curiously from atop the bench. “I was in the holodeck,” the Cadet explained. “And I forgot to turn off the safety protocols.” “Those damn safety protocols,” Mercedes muttered under her breath. “Stay right here, I’ll go get a hypo.” But just as she turned around, Ceril decided to take a step forward. He crashed into Scott standing on the bench, and Scott lost his balance, losing his grip on the medkit and accidentally dropping it on Ceril’s head. Mercedes turned around to see what the commotion was about and found Ceril lights out on the floor and Scott with a shocked but slightly amused expression on his face. “Bloody hell,” he said, and let out a little giggle. = -- No virus found in this outgoing message.
