== /\ USS Chimera, Holodeck /\ ===== Jack looked at the brisk morning air and felt a pang in his stomach. Looking around there was vast amounts of woodland on the horizon infront of him, he could hear the steam from afar and he could hear his officers assembling in front of him. "Ok. I don't know how your old boss did it, but the way I work is, I say something you do it. I'm not a firm believer in Marines who think too much, if you want to think excessively go get a blue collar. All that should fill your mind is tactics, strategies and most importantly what would you do if you were in the other guys shoes. Its clich=E9 I know, and frankly I don't care because at the end of the day you answer to me, and me alone." "Sir Yes Sir!" Came the reply, as he expected. He didn't really expect them to listen to what he was saying, he wanted thinkers if truth be told, but he didn't want a thinker who had to be told to think. Those who had to be told would soon be on their way out of this department. "Cadet McKnight, take Ensign T'krin and form a crows nest. If anyone comes near the flag take them out, but rotate your position, when they respawn, chances are they'll know where you are." "Aye Sir." The Assistant Commander replied grabbing a rifle and T'Krin and heading off up the range. "And one more thing" he cracked open a crate of thermal imaging goggles. "Computer, access holodeck program Walsh 1. Authorization Walsh-Beta- Four-Gamma and change to night." With that the beautiful day quickly changed to an eerie night time and Jack grabbed a head set and a rifle. "Ok You, You and You...and...You" he pointed to Four officers in turn. "Set up a sweeper team. You'll be secondary to my point team. We'll be the initial recon team, mark their positions, you come in after and clean them up. Basic leapfrog formation take no prisoners, head and body shots only. And remember the Computer is logging *all* of your shots for my review. Make them clean and make them count" he slung the rifle over his shoulder and began to move off into the foliage. He was glad that there were more than just the ODA team members participating in this exercise otherwise they would have had to split 11 men in half and then make do with that. As it was he didn't have a huge team on his side, but just enough, and to be honest this was really just a test to see how his men acted and thought under fire. Pushing forward he came across a small overhang just upahead out of the clearing. Marquez had been scouting further ahead and just as Jack was beginning to think it was going to be plain sailing all the way to Blue Camp his Comm. Badge whispered, ever so silently. "Marquez to Captain Walsh, enemy sighted, small team, led by..."there was a pause.. " Ensign Haines. "Awaiting orders." "Hold Lieutenant" Jack turned on his ankles not making contact with any of his officers, because frankly he couldn't see them, but he knew they could see him, all awaiting orders. He signalled that the enemy had been sighted and pointed where. Next he told the initial team to surround them and then sweeper squad to move in and mop up the rest whilst the firefight was starting to break out. Watching with a slight smirk as his orders were carried out Jack moved in synch with what he had just ordered and came across a large tree where he paused and crouched down at once he heard the team making their way towards him. "I cant believe Walsh turned it to night, what a hard ass bastard..."he heard a mumbling in the distance. "Ensign Shut the hell up before you give away our position" Haines barked to the officer on his team, obviously not an ODA member. "Too Late" Jack let out a sly chuckle as he sprung from behind the tree still crouched with his side arm blazing into the chest of the Ensign with the large mouth. Haines and Co. Sprang into action soon after taking what cover they could and letting off a few cover shots. "Suppressing Fire!!" Jack bellowed at the top of his voice whilst moving so as to not give away his position. Tapping his Comm. Badge. "Walsh to Michaels, we've engaged a small team, look out for the other team, no doubt they're going to try and catch us off guard." he squeezed off another few shots as he saw the sweeper team slipping up from the rear at a rapid pace firing all the time. Just up ahead he could see Ensign Haines running, no doubt trying to escape the pandemonium. One quick look behind him to see what was coming sealed his fate as he tripped over and rolled down the overhang. It wasn't a huge drop, but enough to send a breaking sound ringing though Jacks ears. Rushing over as the other officers that had just been shot were being beamed into the holds box for a period of five minutes, he slid down the rocky slope and Joined the other officers at Haines. "Its broken sir. I can patch it up though Captain" Said the Medic. "Alls Fair in Love and War Corporal..."he paused. "Captain Walsh to Sickbay. Lockonto Ensign Haines and beam him to sickbay, he's broken his leg it seems. Contact me if and when he's ready to return to simulated training. Walsh out." "Ok Hold position. Set up a perimeter and for god sakes keep yourself hidden. We'll keep here for 05 mins and then resume heading." "Walsh to McKnight, Report." ==== MCaptain Jack Walsh ODA Commander USS Chimera, Omega Fleet
