====== Brig cells, Security area, USS Chimera ===== Shane looked through the activated force field on the man lying on the bank in the cell. He was informed about their 'guest' by one of the security officers that were ordered to escort him by Commander Summers. He was sure that in a short time there will be a report about that event delivered to him by Rangi as well, but this was a matter that Shane wanted to have solved as soon as possible. Shane was quite surprised when he learned that the man Rangi ordered to take to custody was noone else then Commander Peter James Birt, the brother of the deceased LT. Birt that served on the ship as a member of the ODA team. LT. Birt was the medical specialist of the team, but he didnt survived one of the earier ship's mission ... a thing that happens despite all the effort to complete the mission AND to keep all alive. Loosing crew ... friends was a thing Shane hated on Starfleet, but everyone knew his risk and everyone accepted it. The first time Shane's met Commander Birt was when he was ordered by Admiral Pakos to take part of an tactical research experiment. It concerned a new scanning procedure and the field testing was done on board Birt's ship. The two man were not friends ... Shane only wanted to return to the Chimera as soon as possible and Birt wanted the experiment to be a success ... but both man learned to accept the other and even finally found a way how to cooperate to achieve both goals. And now, the same Commander Birt was in a brig cell on the Chimera and by some play of destiny, Shane was now in charge of the ship and Birt was the 'guest'. Shane had little to none informations about Birt since he returned from the experiment and the only thing he learned that he had a daughter among the children they've just delivered to Tetris II. It seemed that Birt was not in duty on Tetris II, cause the Tetris colony was quite small to be a suitable place for an Commander and he wore no uniform as well. If Shane should guess, he would think that Birt retired from starfleet to enjoy the civilian side of life. Birt seemed to be sleeping qite deep and Shane thought that it might be good for him to get some honest portion of sleep before having a talk with Shane, so he decided to leave him for the moment. After all, Birt couldnt run away ... not at all. In that very moment a call from Rangi requesting him to come to sickbay reached him.
