He was talking with Legate Altar for some 20 minutes already. Even if some details of their new mission were uclear and a bit bluring the mission as a whole was surely more then interesting. Tomalak watched the legate to bend a bit closer to the screen. "I am sure Commander that you understand the importance of the mission" he said. Tomalak noded: "Yes legate. I do understand the benefits the empire could gain from the success" Tomalak surely understood the importance ... afterall he was a Leith for more then 15 years. It would be not the first battle he had to fought, not the first enemy to deceive ... not the first race to conquer. The legate noded: "Good Commander. Dont forget my words and do everything you see fit to achieve victory. You know why we do send your ship and not a regular galae ship, dont you?" The romulan Commander looked a bit amused. It was funny how all those fresh legates though they knew everything about the romulan secret service - The Tal Shiar. Tomalak by himself was a member of Tal Shiar since he graduated the romual war college. From field operative to agent, he moved through most of the ranks of the secret service before his assigantion to the Warbird Teelen that have been a Tal Shiar ship for more then 20 years. Tomalak never cared too much about politics ... on Romulus it was an dangerous thing, but he always regreted that the military was still under the rule of the romulan senate. Sure, there were ways how to go around the senate and Tomalak liked the one that showed the infamous preator Shinzon the best, but usualy he had to bend his head when receiving orders from civian politicians ... like Legate Altar. So he bowed himseld again before the "Will of the citizens of the romulan empire" as the senate described himself and replied: "Yes Legate, i do everything to serve the folk and the senate" The legate noded again: "Once again Commander, we want the alegiance with the Kzinti. We need alies and even more we need that technology". Tomalak noded. The Kzinti technology the Tal Shiar learned about few years back could prove very valuable for the empire. "You have to remove those oposing us, but Commander ... we dont want an open war with the federation. Not yet at least ..." Not too happy about his last order Tomalak noded. This was a skilled speech. He was told to do everything necessaty to succeed, but he cant fight any federation vessel directly. And of course, the legate 'forot' to tell him how to do both things at once. "Jolan' tru Commander, we await your report about the success soon" ===== 5 Minutes later ===== Tomalak entered his bridge and barked out orders: "Cloak the ship and se the course to the Kzinti System" The bridge crew exchanged surpised looks and his Subcommander said: "But sir, the Kzinti system is out of the empire's theritory, quite near the federation space".
