=== Security/ODA office === Gary walked in to the Security office looking for Marine Captain Walsh.. He was eager to talk to the ODA commander about the state in which the oda was in. After leaving the infirmary the day before Gary poured himself in to his work. He had visited the armoury first where he inspected each and every weapon in the arsenal. From there he had headed down to the storage areas where the various pieces of equipment issued to the ODA was stored. He then spent the remainder of his first day in his quarters, looking over personnel records and reviewing the training reports, especially the training reports form the holo training that had just completed the day he had arrived on the ship. Though the look on his face was plain and unemotional, Gary was not pleased with some of the things he had observed. Neglected maintenance on equipment was disturbing to Gary. Weapons not maintained properly and armour with repairable damage were just a few of the deficiencies he had found. But more so was the training. Though the recent training on the holodeck was a good basic exercise, Gary wanted to see more training for the specialized types of missions an ODA was suppose to perform. Looking about the office, Gary looked over at a Marine corporal sitting at a desk. " Petty Officer first class here to see Marine Captain Walsh" he stated as if announcing royalty. Gary waited to be told to enter the Captains office. Jack sat at his desk, reeling from his encounter with the Acting Executive Officer earlier. He still couldn't believe he'd been so absent minded to send her that along with his report. Mentalist. Just then Corporal Banks made his voice heard in Jacks office with the announcement that the new Ops Spec. was reporting in. He'd had his eye on this guy since he arrived, he'd been putting his nose everywhere in ODA business since he got onboard. That was his job though, he was sure that the ODA was in need of an overhaul, considering it was an inherited department. "Come" Jack called aloud, standing to greet the man who entered at his request. "Petty Officer First Class Gary Williams, reporting for duty!" he said, saluting Jack and holding position at Attention. Jack saluted the Petty Officer in return. "At Ease" he nodded motioning for him to take a seat opposite himself at the desk. Gary stood at ease, glancing at the seat. He thought twice about sitting down. On one had, he had ideas, opinions to express to the oda commander. And though to a point he was allowed to do so, he tended to come off as pushy. Remaining standing and keeping conversation on a professional level was an option. On the other hand, he could take the seat, be friendly with his new boss and see where it went. He could still get his points across, but if he ended being pushy, as usual, he would only end up back in the standing position. Looking back at Captain Walsh he politely refused. "No thank you sir." He said shifting his gaze to the wall behind Jack. Jack looked at the man slightly odd. "Right Ok. I see you've been making yourself busy Mr Williams." Gary glanced down at Jack, "Yes sir I figured I would get familiar with the ODA. One can tell a lot about a group by the shape of their equipment. I also wanted to familiarize myself with their personnel records and previous training." He said confidently. "And just what has all your investigations unearthed?" He played with the PADD on his desk whilst waiting for the Petty Officer to reveal his true opinions. He had a slight feeling that this guy had his own agenda here, and it possibly wouldn't fit with Jacks. Gary stiffened up a bit and looked back at the wall. "Well sir, After reviewing the armoury, I found 10 Type IIIb Phaser Rifles that needed some form of maintenance, worn coils, rust on the barrels that kind of thing. " he paused for a moment. "One TR-116 MARK II sniper rifle that was dirty, and 7 pieces of body armour that need servicing. Then when I inspected the rest of the Oda's equipment I found various items dirty, torn and in general not kept in top shape." He looked back to Jack, "If our unit is to be ready for any thing they throw at us, we should have our equipment in tip top shape." He waited for jack to reply. Well Petty Officer. I totally agree with you. So I'm putting you with the task of making sure that everything is to my approval by 0700 tomorrow morning." Walsh sipped his coffee glancing down at the desk. "Was there anything else?" Gary barely flinched. He would have made sure the necessary maintenance would have been done with out being told to do so. TO him, that was part of his job. But it was not bad to have the CO of the ODA to approve. " Well sire the training." He said ending his words short. "Go On" "Well sir, What I mean is the type of training. From what I have seen in the ships records the oda has done plenty of ship based training, repel boarders, assault a ship, that kind of thing. But there has been little in the way of training for our standard kind of missions. Our teams need to hone their skills at what they were trained for. Sniper detail, reconnaissance with out detection, Hostage rescue." He stiffened and waited for the captain's response. "Right well draw me up 4 training scenarios as well for tomorrow and liaise with Cadet McKnight and myself on the specifics." he tried not to take this personally, the man was just doing his job after all. "Anything else?" Gary remained firm, {that went too well. I wonder if this man is setting me up for something. Usually by now I have received the, =91slow down' speech.} he thought to himself. "No sir, that about covers things for now." He said confidently. Gary looked down at Jack, "Once they have been drilled in special mission scenarios, we might want to look at some kind of individual annual performance test, just to make sure they are keeping up on their specialties. You know, like a shoot and scoot holo-test with various alien weapons for the weapons specialist, hacking a telerite computer core for the communication specialist, field repair of alien warp core under fire for the engineering specialist. Some thing along those line, to keep their skills sharp." He waited for to see if he had pushed his luck too far. "Very Good" Jack yawned ever so slightly. "Draw me up some rough ideas and we'll go through them." Walsh smiled and shook the mans hand and watched as he departed. === MCaptain Jack Walsh, ODA Commander & PO1 Garry Williams, Ops Spec.
