Having left Xenai in charge of the repairs, there was not much he could do
before re-initialyzing the warpcore, so he turned to his investigation. He
did not know who it could be, but the list of guests on the ship had been
quite long for a moment, and so was the list of suspects.
He was headed for security where, he hoped, someone would help him out with
sensor logs he needed access to. PADD in hand, he walked in the department
and headed straight for the chief's office. He rang the door chime and
nobody answered, after ringing for a while and starting to lose patience he
noticed a cadet, passing by.
"Cadet." He interpelled him, not knowing his name. "Do you know the where
abouts of the chief of security by any chance?"
Michael turned to see the officer in front of him. “No I don’t know were he
is at the moment.” Michael had just finished of some ODA paperwork, before
that he had been reviewing the unit rosters. So at the moment he had nothing
much to do. Michael was about to head down the Holodeck to do some PT, he
always considered it a good idea to stay in shape. “Is there anything I can
help you with? I have some free time.”
"Well, yes, maybe you can help me." He said. "I've been investigating a
problem with the warpcore matrix and we have found that the cause was
sabotage. Someone definetly tried to keep us from leaving or simply delaying
the ship just to annoy us. EIther case this is a very serious matter and I
would need to look at a few things."
“Really… well I have clearance as the ODA assistant commander. Is there
anything in particular you wanted to look at?”
"Yes, I wanted to see the where abouts of all the crewmen and guests between
2300 hours yesterday night and 0700 this morning, specially movements during
the night. I still don't have all the evidence for any accusations but I
have to start somewhere."
“That sounds reasonable enough.” Upon join the SSF and the ODA Michael was
also told that every member of the SSF was a bother in arms. If one member
was attacked the whole of the SSF is attacked which is what makes that such
a formidable force. It what Michael had just been told was correct, someone
was going against this idea which did not stand well with Michael. “I
suggest we access the ship records for activity last night. I don’t think
someone would be stupid enough to do anything with their combadge on, but it
could give us an idea of who was in what location. Maybe someone saw
something and don’t even know it. If nothing else we can real out people.”
"Indeed." Gaalen replied. "I'm Gaalen Idrani, Deputy Chief engineer, by the
way." He said, smirking and extending a hand.
“I am Michael McKnight, Assistant ODA Commander.” Replied Michael returning
a smile and shaking his hand.
Gaalen followed Cadet McKnight to an access console and watched him access
internal sensor logs for that night. They both stared at the screen. "Well,
I think we need to refine the search." Gaalen suggested, momentairly taken
aback by the amount of entries the computer displayed.
“Yes I would Say so.” Michael looked at the profiles, each came up with
records and medical information. After thinking for a moment. “Is there
anyway we can cross reference their data with the evidence taken at the
scene?”
"Well, at this time, I still don't have evidence fom the site, I have a team
on location, effecting repairs." Gaalen replied, knowing this should have
been done prior to him showing up at security.
“Well it that case we will have to go there and do it our selves.” Michael
was not a detective so he hoped that it would be easy or at lest easier than
the last time he was in a Jefferies tube with another officer. “Sorry, you
will have to lead the way. I am still learning the layout of this ship.”
{why do I keep ending up on missions to the Jefferies tubes with male
officers?}
As they where on the move to Jefferies tubes on deck 12, section 4-A They
wherein terupted in their talks by Ensign Dallas. He reported the findings.
Gaalen replied that he was on his way with Cadet McKnight and they would
take the necessary scans to place a face to the found regulator.
-= Some time later, security. =-
It took them a few moments to gather the necessary scans from the refulator
and the surrounding area. Gaalen gave the tricorder to McKnight who
downloaded the whole content to the computer for analysis.
At the same time, Gaalen ran the serial number of the regulator in his
database to know where it was suppose to be stored on the ship, with the
many emergency kits scattered in lockers around the ship, it could have been
any of them.
After a short time the information from the refulator had been cross
referenced with everybody on the ship. The results came back, it was
negative. Not one crewman from the Chimera had anything to do with the
Sabotage. Michael sighed in relief, there was nothing worse than finding a
traitor on your side. But it did still leave the problem of who did the act.
Michael thought for a moment, {It’s not one of the crew so…} Michael moved
to a different consol assessed the security logs for the guest quarters. The
logs showed only one possible match, he had left his quarters at the time of
0500.
“It was governors Son, that little…” Michael contained Himself. I guess we
should make a visit to those quarters and see what we can find.
-= five minutes later, lower decks. =-
The Two of them were now making their way to the quarters. As they were
making a turn on the deck which would have lead them to the quarter, Gaalen
stopped Michael with a pat on the shoulder. Michael turned to see the
Engineer gazing at a access panel. To Michael’s eyes in seemed fine, clearly
Gaalen had a better eye for these sorts of things.
Gaalen lowered to one knee and removed the panel. Michael moved in closer to
see what Gaalen was going to find. Gaalen hand wwnt inside searching around,
after a sort time it reappeared with a regulator in hand.
“That is one keen eye for detail.” Michael said, complimenting the officer.
He turned it with a smile. The only thing for the two of them to do now was
write up a report and possible put a bounty on the head of the governor’s
son.
